| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

(I am posting this because I left for an extended period of time and I want to cover what happened to Veronna and why she left Imythess.) Four Years Ago... A storm moved across the plains, the clouds dark and streaked with sheets of rain. The wind was picking up and the fields of wheat, oats and other crops began dancing with each new gust. Veronna stood atop a hill, watching the storm work it's way towards her. She was nervous, but not about the storm. Three days earlier, Vaoulrah, her daughter, was taken from her. She knew who did it and demanded him to face her, though she was not sure if he ever got the message. Something told her she needed to be here, on the Debon plains, at this time. There was a strike of lightning not far off which lit up the ever darkening surroundings. She saw a movement out of the corner of her eyes and whirled around, her hands dropping to her scimitars. Standing before her was what appeared to be a man, heavily robed, the hood hiding his face. The presence around him made the hair on the back of Veronna's neck stand on end. This was him; the Dark Being. No other name was given to him for no name could ever fit such a powerful entity. Though his form looked human, or at least, human-like, it was obviously just the shape he chose to take. "Where is she?" She demanded, taking a step towards him. "She? Do you not mean 'them?'" He asked, his voice mocking her. Veronna's heart sank and all of a sudden she felt very numb. "Them?" The word barely making it from her lips. "Nythiers..." How could she have thought her son, whom she had hidden away right after birth for his own protection, was safe from such a power? "Let me see my children." Her voice was demanding and firm, trying to not let her fear come through. "Very well." He waved his hand and two small children appeared. Both had black skin, like Veronna, and black hair, like their father had. "Ilhar!" The five year old cried as she ran to her mother. Veronna dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around the child. "Vaoulrah," she said, stroking the child's head. "Ph'dos si?" She asked, her eyes going over Vaoulrah's body, making sure there were no sores or marks. "I'm xundus ula." She told her mother. She was shaking because she was scared, but besides that, there was no physical harm to her. A loud clap of thunder originated from near by, causing the other child, a boy, to cover his head. He would not come near Veronna and Vaoulrah, the poor thing was too terrified to move. "Zhah that ussta dalninuk?" Vaoulrah asked, looking up at her mother. Veronna nodded her head. "I don't know him..." The child said, seeming a little distraught about that fact. Looking down into her child's beautiful green eyes, she tried to come up with a way to explain it to her. "Uk inbalus ulu tlu velkyn tarthe dal verin lodias." She could not take much time to explain it all, her time with them was running out, she could tell by how the Dark Being was starting to move. "Vok ulu uns'aa. Dos inbal ulu plynn kyon d'dosst dalninuk, kampi'un? Kyorl doeb whol ukta." Veronna spoke quickly and hoped the girl understood it all. "Why?" The child asked, a puzzled expression on her face. "Because he is not as strong as you. He will need you to protect him." Those words were difficult for her to say; no one should have to ask their children to watch out for each other. "Vaoulrah, I love you and-" She was cut off as both children disappeared. A fire erupted inside of her and she lunged at the Dark Being with her hands. He waved his hand and she flew backwards, hitting the ground hard and knocking the air from her lungs. "It's all so sad, is it not?" He asked as he walked over to her. She had her feet under her once more, her hands resting on the hilts of her scimitars, but not drawing the blades. "Take me instead." Veronna offered as panic set in. She could not let him take her children. Her body was shaking, both from rage and fear. "I am sorry, but you are not what I need. Your children have more potential than you ever had. They will serve me well." "Please..." Her voice was cracking as she begged him to take her instead. "A mother loosing her children. Tsk. You should have thought about that before you-" He stopped mid-sentence, an evil grin visible under his hood as he noticed Veronna was avoiding drawing her blades. "The former Goddess of Blades, unable to use her own swords. Now that is just wonderful." Veronna formed her hands into fists. It was true; she could not use her scimitars. They were too powerful for her, as a mortal, to wield. She did not know how she could possibly fight him without her weapons, but that did not stop her from trying. She moved at him again, planning on hitting him with her fist. The Dark Being raised both his hands when Veronna was arms length away, freezing the former goddess in place. He placed his hands on her shoulders, just the touch of him making her cry out in pain as it took all her willpower to remain standing. "I want you to listen, and listen well, Veronna." His voice was quiet, almost a whisper, and it made every bone in her body ache. "I have your children and I will keep your children. If I ever see you trying to find a way to 'save' them, I will inflict such pain on them..." He trailed off. "No." Veronna managed through clenched teeth. "If you do not want them to suffer, I suggest you keep to yourself and slip away. Disappear." He leaned in closer. "Be forgotten." The Dark Being's hands began emanating more power and more pain shot through her. He placed his index fingers at the sides of her neck and dragged them across her shoulders, down her arms and all the way to her hands. Veronna screamed in pain and fell to her knees. His fingers felt like knives cutting her flesh. And then, he was gone. They were all gone. Her children taken to some place she could never go. She had failed them, just as she had failed Ocar. Tears streamed down her face as she wrapped her arms around herself, numb to the pain from the cuts that he had given her. Because the pain she felt now, was a pain no one should have to bear and it hurt more deeply than the worst wound Veronna had ever had. The wind blew fiercely as it started to rain. She finally stood up, her legs shaking as she took her first few steps. Blood was running from the top of both wounds and down her arms and dripping off her fingertips. She needed to get to Kellen for shelter and to find someone to help stop the bleeding. |
