| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Slade's attention locked to the Star Patch for a moment, but then he looked up, his eyes going cold as he held up a hand. Boots were heard outside the door of the tavern, and then an armored and armed guard stepped into the tavern, three more behind him. The leader scanned the room, and his eyes lit on Mistalee, and a smile graced his face as he began crossing the room. Slade's eyes narrowed, and the chair twitched slightly as he shifted it ever so slightly to the side, his right hand curling into a fist as he waited, his face impassive. "Lady Mistalee. Someone had whispered that you were back in Norwood, so your brother sent us to bring you back, whether you want it or not," he said, a smirk replacing the smile as the other three guards fanned out behind him. "So let's just do this nice and easy, and you just come back willingly this time instead of fighting us. Your brother is, after all, losing his patience," he said, his hand reaching for her arm. It was stopped, however, by the clatter of a chair falling over. Slade's hand curled tightly around the guard's wrist, and a soft smile was on his face as he pushed the guard's hand away from Mistalee. "So sorry to interrupt. But here's the slight problem with your plan, and your master's. You see, this young woman is not just dining with some random strangers. She's under the protection of the Twilight Guardians, and the PERSONAL protection of the Grandmaster himself, yours truly," he said, placing himself between the guards and Mistalee. The two women would see a dark canine form slip through the door behind the guards, slinking along the wall as Slade shook his head. "Normally, I wouldn't interfere in this, but she has made it quite clear she wants to see the world without her brother's interference. I happen to be very good at what I do, so I offered to help her with that, and make sure she had a safe place to go to when she needed down time from travelling. So if you four gentlemen will be on your way, I would appreciate it. After all, I've been around here as long as most of the residents can remember, and I'd hate to get thrown out for beating the stuffing out of four fine gentlemen such as yourselves." [[OOC: Feel free to control NPCs and such, both of you.]] |

As the guards walked up the elf's emerald eyes flashed. She looked them up and down quickly. She did not recognize any of them, and she knew every one of the guards under her brother's command by name. Their uniforms were good, but she quickly picked out a few flaws in them. They were counterfeits. She rose from her chair and picked up her weapon. She nodded and smiled to Slade. "Once this little interruption is over, you shall have to tell me about your guild," she said. "And these four are not gentlemen, I can tell you that," she said as she looked back to the thugs. "You're first mistake was coming here and trying to bully me with threats of my brother. You're second mistake was trying to imitate the guards of my own household. Plus...you messed up the emblem. Did you think I would not notice that?" She took a step forward, a dark glare in her eyes. No longer was she the care free looking noblewoman. Now she was like a hunting cat walking towards her kill. It was clear she was no stranger to battles and that she was a highly skilled fighter. "Not nearly enough time has passed for my brother to know of my presence. Also I know for a fact that he would come get me himself if he knew I was this close. What is your real intention here? Trying to take me as hostage?" she in a soft calm voice. The four thugs stared at her in shock, their plan so quickly being revealed. They obviously had not done any research on the noblewoman save for the fact that she had an over protective brother. The leader snarled. "I don't care what it takes, grab her!" he yelled. Mistalee merely smirked. With a fluid motion her bladed bow came up into her hands and she took a stance for melee battle. As the thugs attacked she began a graceful yet deadly dance. |

It always came down to a fight in this world. It felt like people were always looking for an excuse. The Star Patch, its warning duly delivered, jumped into Gala's lap and wiggled itself into its pouch, still muttering to itself. Well, seeing as how a fight was were this was going, better to get it over with now. She unhooked the silky rope from her belt and set it on the table. Then she drew her wand and held it causally in one hand. It was a good wand made out of some substantial, painted metal. There was a five pointed star on the top. The guards split themselves between Mistalee and Slade - three on her, one on him. None of them paid any attention whatsoever to Gala. Good. She rose to her feet and took a step back. She hesitated. Clearly those to could take care of themselves and her spells were not very selective. They could damage the whole room if she wasn't concentrating. If one of them gets through their guard, I'll get involved, she decided. Otherwise there's no point. |

Slade sighed, sliding one foot back as he took a side-on stance to the one thug that had come after him. "These are really uneven odds," he said. The thug started to laugh, until Slade continued to speak. "You might want to get your other three buddies over here. No? They're all going to pick on one woman? Well, I think I'll give her a hand," he said, the spear flipping and spinning in his hands as a blazing sigil appeared in the air behind him, a loud roar echoing from it as a large white lion bounded out. "Help her!" he yelled, one hand coming free to point at Mistalee, even as a black blur shot out from the shadows and bowled one of the thugs there over. He smiled, and tilted his head first one direction, then the other, until tit popped in both directions. "Now that she's got a hand over there. Let's do this," he said, and then lunged forward, the tip of the spear crackling with electricity as he dashed in, the spear itself spinning, the butt end flipping around at the thug's face. He wasn't wanting to cause serious injury, hence he had summoned the Celestial Lion rather than any of his other summons, at least of the ones that wouldn't cause untold destruction in a forest just by being what they were. As he lunged, he other hand dropped to the sash at his waist, pulling a small item from it. With a flick of his wrist, the item expanded out into a fan, with which he intended to counter the expected duck to avoid the clubbing from his spear. ((Kinda short, I'm sorry. Muse is not up to par right now, but I owed you guys a post. EDIT: MUCH better. Sorry the original was so crappy.)) Edited by Slade Morgan, Wed May 8, 2013 8:40 pm.

Mistalee smirked as Slade called this uneven odds. "I know right? I think they need about ten more men to even make me break a sweat!" she replied. Slade then did some sort of summoning magic, or at least she thought it was magic. Then a lion rushed out of no where and pounced one of the thugs. She appreciated that Slade was trying to aid her in battle, though she did not feel that she needed it against foes like this. As a club came down she stepped aside and turned in a single fluid motion. She weapon came up and slashed the man across the chest. He stepped back blinking in shock as he looked down at the wound. Apparently he had not noticed her bow was also a melee weapon. He did not get a chance to change his fighting style and he fell over. That left just one man on her, the leader. He took a step back assessing the situation and promptly ran. Had he heeded her warning before she would have let him go, but now it was too late. The elf calmly reached into her quiver and pulled out an arrow. Her bow twanged softly as the arrow flew through the air and lodged itself in the man's knee making him fall and stumble to the ground. |

Gala applauded. She really had no idea what else to do and it was a job well done. She certainly hadn't had to do anything and that had probably been a benefit for all sides. She pick up her chair and sat back down. "Very neat," she said approvingly. "I don't generally condone fighting, but that was very nicely handled." She tucked her wand back into her belt and rested her elbows on the table. She tilted her head at the tiefling and the elf, but couldn't think of a polite way to say that a) they seemed to have a lot of enemies and b) none of those enemies seemed very bright. |

Slade stalked through the now empty bar, his eyes seeming to glow with a faint orange glimmer, his muscles rippling as he moved gracefully through the tables to stand over the last conscious goon. When he spoke, razor sharp teeth were evident throughout his jaw where before they had been normal. There was a faint snarl to his voice as he did. "Make sure you take word back to whoever hired you, if you or they ever set another foot inside my forest, the Beast from the Black will have them, and there will BE no future for any who seek to harm those who dwell here." His hand flexed, and as if to make his point, sharp claws extended from the tips for a moment, before retracting away again. "Leave," he snarled, stepping away from the thug. Said thug took one look at Slade's face as he rolled his jaw, his teeth flashing slightly, back to normal again, and then bolted for the door, scrabbling away as quickly as he could with an arrow through his knee. He rolled his neck slightly, shaking his head with a sigh. "Fools. Keep on making me have to use that, and sooner or later, one of you is going to end up dead," he muttered softly. |
