| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

There was a flutter of movement, and Slade landed on one of the platforms, the wings on his boots folding back in as he adjusted the staff across his back. He glanced around, his piercing black eyes darting around him as he stepped out into the light and into the tavern, taking a moment to shove the hood back away from his face, his brilliant white hair cascading out. It had grown longer since he'd taken to working alone in the depths of the forest, long enough that it actually fell over part of the haft across his back. Moving slowly, he settled down at a table, reaching up to make sure the fetishes bound into his hair hadn't come loose this time. He'd had that happen once, and had only realized it at the worst of moments, when he'd needed the summon it represented. Now, he made it a habit of checking every time there was a chance, and had even caught it when it happened a few times. Once he was seated, he lifted a hand, and ordered a pitcher of ale and a bowl of stew from a passing barmaid, before leaning back in his chair, his eyes once more darting around him to take in everything around him. |

Gala sat watching her Star Patch juggle eight little motes of light and sing to itself. It had attracted a certain amount of attention from the other patrons - it always did. Nobody had offered to by it from her yet though, which was a bit of a novelty. Usually at least one person tried. It wasn't that she wanted the little thing around - frankly it was annoying and not the least bit useful - but she couldn't bring herself to sell it. She felt that would be wrong somehow. Still she would have to do something for money. She was incredibly sleepy and the owners were already giving her black looks for not ordering anything, just taking up space on a stool in the corner - she couldn't imagine what might happen to her if she fell asleep. She pulled her starry mantle a little tighter around herself. She was starting to feel a little lost and just a bit frightened. Gala wasn't paying much attention to the world around her, but moved at the door did draw her notice, so she saw the white haired man walk in. He was a bit of a novelty - white in a world of greens and browns. But she was too tired to be much intrigued by it. |

It had been sometime since Mistalee had visited Norwood. Her travels had kept her far from home. That and the desire to avoid her brother. But she felt it was time to at least visit home and see him. It was already late and she did not want to visit tonight, tomorrow morning would be good enough. For now she walked into one of the taverns. The elf kept her magical hood up to hide her face. She was too easily recognizable here and did not want her brother hearing she was here until she was ready for it. The hood she had acquired had proven its worth on many occasions. It made it all but impossible for people to remember any of her features. Not her hair color, her eyes, her face, or even her weapons. She took a seat not too far away from where Slade was sitting. Her emerald eyes looked over to him. She did not recognize him. He obviously was some sort of traveler either new to the land or had not been around much in recent years. Normally she would not take much note about travelers as they were common enough, but there was something inside her that told her that this one was special. She just had to determine if that was a good thing or a bad thing. |

The two women weren't the only ones to take an interest in Slade's entry. His food had just shown up when two males on the opposite side of the bar rose, stalking across the main room toward Slade. He saw them coming, but waited. He still ran into people who remembered him from his Moon Child days, and even more recently as the Twilight Guardian Guildmaster, but not everyone was happy about him being around still. He had a sneaking suspicion that these two were the latter, and were about to cause trouble. One hand slipped beneath the table, pulling the pocketwatch he'd carried for several years now free of the pouch he carried it in. As he raised it above the table, one of the two shoved the table, bumping the nearly full bowl of stew, causing it to splatter out of the bowl, and onto the watch. Slade froze, and then his eyes drifted up from the watch to the men. "Yah know, if you want trouble, you don't want to go finding it with me. I will, however, accept an apology," he said, wiping at the watch with a sleeve. "This watch was a gift to me, and I'll thank you to be more careful next time. Can I help you with something?" The two men snickered, and one of them started around the table. Slade sighed, tucking the watch away back in the pouch. He took a swig of his ale, and then rose to his feet. "I take it you aim to misbehave. How about we take this outside so no one else gets hurt, gentlemen?" There was no response forthcoming, and he shook his head. "Fara, forgive me," he said, before his eyes fell from the ceiling back to the men, before they both doubled up, jerking and shaking. Slade was now standing with the watch in his hand, spinning it by the fob chain. "Leave, both of you. And the next time you try and start trouble, make sure it's with someone that you can take, or this will continue to happen to you." He crouched, and helped them both to their feet. "Get out of here." Edited by Slade Morgan, Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:20 pm.

The watched the exchange closely. In the blink of an eye the two fools who tried to attack the man were doubled over in pain. There was much more to this man than met the eye. She was not sure if he noticed but five more elven men rose up behind Slade. She was not sure exactly how he had managed to take down the previous two so quickly, but something told her that the current numbers would be a problem. She also did not like seeing fights breakout in her home. With a sigh she rose from her table and walked over to the crowd. The other thugs glared at her, she met the glare with her own. "Leave. Now," she ordered, with an air of authority clear in her voice. The men merely laughed at her. "Looks like the lass does not know when to stay out of things. Shall we teach them a lesson?" Mistalee did not even reach for her weapon. Instead in one graceful motion she pulled down her hood. This had not been exactly the way she wanted to reveal herself...but it was better than a fight. The thugs took a step back, recognizing her instantly. The whole tavern seemed to know who she was. "I said leave. Don't make me repeat myself," she said calmly. They nodded and ran out of the tavern without a backwards glance. She then looked over to Slade. "Interesting trick you pulled taking down those idiots. Hopefully they will learn not to mess with visitors again," she said in a friendly enough voice. "I do not recognize you. Who might you be?" |

Gala watched the exchange with interest. Apparently, the man in white had annoyed somebody. He didn't look like a target one would peg for just a random shakedown. She was a more likely target and thus far everyone had left her alone. So it must be someone with enough clout to get people to do dirty work for him. Just as things were starting to get really ugly, this elven woman stepped in. Gala had no idea where she came from - she hadn't seen her come in and knew she hadn't been in the bar earlier. Clearly though, she carried serious power around here. She had to be someone important. At her orders, the bar fight that was rapidly brewing broke up like clouds on a windy day. Pretty soon the bar was empty except for her, the man in white, and Gala. Gala sat in her corner and watched their conversation, feeling no compulsions about staring. Her Star Patch continued to sing to itself in a tinny voice. She felt that it might be rude to introduce herself, but there was no one else in the bar except them. Maybe, if she just kept sitting there, they wouldn't notice her. |

Slade paused, the watch spinning around his hand twice and then landing on his opened palm as he turned to face the ones behind him, his hand already moving toward the shaft of the spear. One eyebrow raised as the men scattered at the young female pulling her hood back, and he flicked the catch on the watch, staring down at the face of it, before closing it and tucking it into his pocket. "Seems I have to thank you. Two to one odds, I can handle. But my... gifts can't let me handle that many." He bowed, his hair cascading around his face as he straightened again. "Might I know the name of the woman that saved me quite a few pains and aches, since it seems that everyone else here already knows who you are?" He turned his head slightly to glance at the only occupied corner left, and smiled. "And I trust we didn't disturb you back there, did we? Seems like your musical friend doesn't mind at all." |

The elf waved her hand as he thanked her. "No need for thanks. Those boys have always been a bit unruly. They need to be reminded from time to time that such behavior is not welcomed in Norwood," she said. "Good kids honestly. Just have to grow this stage in their life." She looked around the tavern, seeing that it had calmed down. A few patrons were still giving her some looks. The innkeeper did not seem phased at all, and merely gave her a friendly smile. He knew her well enough and was use to seeing her pass through here. "As for who I am. I am Mistalee Ti'ren. My elder brother is a Lord in this area," she answered. "And before you start, do not call me 'Lady' I hate it when people do that. Merely call me Mistalee. She smiled at Gala as Slade beckoned her. She also waved the lass over. "Come and join us. The more the merrier!" |

They noticed her. Oh well, it beat sitting in the corner by herself, trying not fall asleep. She scooped up her Star Patch and tucked it in its pouch, where it continued to chatter on to itself, albeit heavily muffled. "My name is Gala," she said, giving the shortened form of her actual name. It seemed a bit easier for people here to process, despite the fact she found it somewhat trite. She folded her mantle over one arm to keep it from dragging on the floor. She wished she knew a spell that would mend it when it was torn or clean it when it was dirty. "Forgive me for staring. It was..." Well, she wasn't certain it was rude here. "Inevitable. You seem to attract attention in the worst way." She blinked. That phrasing felt too abrupt. Next time she would have to do better. |

Strangely, Slade didn't even bother bowing, instead just inclining his head slightly. One eyebrow went up, and he smiled. "Nothing to forgive. There's rarely any boredom when I'm around, especially in areas where my history is known. Which it... somewhat is... here in Norwood especially. As for me, I am Slade Morgan," he said, inclining his head slightly again to both of them. He pulled a chair out from the table, gesturing for them to both sit down and join him, gesturing at the waitress and pointing at the two women, and receiving a nod in response. "And again, I'm used to being stared at. It's not often you see a tiefling with my... peculiar coloration." He chuckled as he said it. "Lot of people don't believe I've got demonic blood in me with the white hair, the white skin, the white clothes. They think I'm full of it, or just trying to get sympathy for.." He winced, his eyes going distant for a moment, his hand coming up to press into the back of his head. "Sorry. I'm rambling," he said quietly, his voice thick for a moment before returning to normal. "You," he said, pointing at Mistalee. "You I can understand being here. But you," he said, his finger pivoting to point at Gala, his eyebrow rising up again. "I can't figure you out, no offense. What brings you to Norwood?" he asked. |

When he spoke his name she raised an eye brow. She had heard of him, though this was her first time meeting him. Anyone who spent enough time in Norwood had heard of Slade Morgan, the weretiger Fara're and their exploits in the land. When he mentioned he was a tiefling she merely shrugged as if it did not matter. "I have heard of you," she replied. "I had wished to meet you before. Along with the weretiger I had heard so much about. But my brother always said it was 'too dangerous' and would not let me go out exploring on my own. Well...that was until I decided to sneak out on my own." She nodded to Gala and lauged a little at her comment. "Well meet. I do suppose people like us tend to draw a bit of attention where we go. I normally don't like to let people know I am noble decent...but its kind of hard to hide it here. At least it helps end fights before they can really start." |

Gala nodded at the Lady Mistalee's comment, then turned her attention to Slade's. "I came here with a wool merchant from the Debon Plains. I'm just sort of wandering right now. I had no particular purpose when I came here except to see the world." For a moment, she considered his white hair and skin. Then she shrugged. "I don't know much of demons beyond they are generally enemies with celestials. I have a little elemental blood in me, myself." Well, it was more than a little. How she came out looking as ordinary as she did was completely baffling. She turned back to Mistalee, "Why, if you had to sneak out, did you decide to come back?" |

He gave a slight bow when she said she had heard of him, but his demeanor changed when she mentioned the weretiger. His eyes went distant, and he let out a deep sigh, shaking his head. "You're a bit too late to meet Fara," he said, in a voice more fitting to a pastor in the midst of a solemn sermon. "She... she passed away not long ago." He shook his head. "Hence why those two didn't stand a chance after they splashed soup on this watch," he said, dangling it from his hand. "It was a gift from her, not long after we became an official couple. I've carried it with me ever since, and it is even more dear to me now that she is gone." He could the fob chain around the watch itself, and tucked the watch back into a pocket on his tunic. "Your brother was right, though Fara and I, and now I alone, work to make it a bit safer for those who choose to call Norwood, and indeed all of Imythess, home." He smiled, seeming to throw off the temporary melancholy with a moment's notice. "Wanderers are always welcome in Norwood, and in fact is how I found the place I even now call home," he said, shaking his head. "I was a wanderer once, and even now I still wander to some extent, but for different reasons than I once did." |

Her eyes grew saddened as he mentioned that the weretiger had passed away. "My sympathies," she said. "I know all too well the pains of loosing a loved one." But it would not do to dwell on such things. She had not intended to make the conversation take a somber path. She nodded when he did say her brother was right. "I understand that the world is a dangerous place, I learned that while I was still a child. But he would never let me go out unless I was with a guard or two. Even when I had proven a number of times that I was as good of a fighter, if not better, than many of our guards. And that I was much better at hiding than any of them. My father taught me well," she explained. "One day I decided I had had enough and that I needed to find my own place in the world. So I left." She then looked to Gala. "I might need to sneak out of my childhood home to go traveling but that does not mean Norwood is not my home. I return from time to time to visit. I love my brother dearly, and he is the only family I have left. So I am here now to visit him. Originally it was my plan to keep a low profile until the morning and return to the manor then...but it seems like tonight's series of event have caused me to change those plans." "I am fully expecting my brother to try and keep me here once again. He wants to keep me safe, but refuses to let me choose my own path," she said. "I will spend some time here and enjoy his company...but I know that soon enough I will have to ditch him again when I want to leave. I just hope I can do it a bit more peacefully this time. Last time included an arrow with a note attached to it...." When she finished that statement she smiled a bit sheepishly. Her last visit to Norwood had been less than pleasant. Her brother had hired a bounty hunter to drag her back home by any means. The hunter had been successful, but luckily for the spirited noble, her contracted ended upon their arrival. That had allowed Mistalee to almost immediately escape once more. She had let her brother know of her departure by shooting an arrow into his study with a note attached. It was then all too easy to give the guards a slip and be out of the manor without further detection. Edited by Mistalee, Sat Apr 27, 2013 3:18 am.

Gala nodded. She understood - she'd left a safe and secure home as well, though with the blessings of most of her family. Well, some of her family. A few of them anyway. The ones that mattered. To her. A serving wench came over with a bowl of some kind of bread that she put in the center of the table. The smell made Gala's mouth water, but she forced herself to move casually. She took a piece of bread, tore it in half, and chewed and swallowed a small bite. Even forcing herself to move slowly though, she was still finished much, much too soon. She reached out and took another piece. "Aren't you worried that one day your brother will come up with some way to keep you here for good?" The Star Patch worked its way out of its pouch while Gala was busy eating and somehow made its way to the top of the table. It began doing an odd little dance that involved hopping on one foot with one arm up and one arm down, all the while singing in a tinny, barely audible voice. Gala popped the last of her third piece of bread in her mouth and made a grab for the creature. It slipped out of her fingers and kept dancing. |
