Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Eko considered Xiren's question, looking thoughtful with one hand on her fork. She tried to consider her past experiences with werewolves. "I'm hesitating to answer because every pack is so different. Some werewolves don't even form into packs. It's all so variable." Her next mouthful she chewed deliberately, but waited until she had swallowed to continue speaking. "I'm allied with a pack in which the alpha male and female have the same amount of dominance. When I approached them for the first time, they needed something to convince them I was worth talking to. In my case, I showed them respect. But I could have also shown them my power -- which is more dangerous, admittedly. I don't think a patriarchal pack would be too different. Luken will probably consider you such a gnat that you wouldn't even be worth fighting, provided you remain respectful and submissive."

Of course, that would become a problem if he intercepted Xiren and demanded to know the contents of the missive. That was one of the most delicate situations one could get themselves into in Balefire. Eko feared for her freelance messenger; she genuinely wanted him to flourish. "How about this. We give you a decoy missive. Let Luken read those contents, then sneak the real letter to Ascontia. I'm not sure how, though. I've never been into Smokefur territory before. You may have to be pragmatic about it. I'll post some shadows around the area to rush to your aid if the job goes south."

Xiren considered this. Submissive should not really be a problem. He was good at submissive. To avoid cutthroat politics, he had learned to be meek and unassuming.

But a decoy message? No. Too much trouble by half. He shook his head. "I'd rather not. Too much can go wrong, not the least of which includes him refusing to let me see Ascontia. I'll just keep insisting - I'm no dazzling fighter, but everyone is ready to think the worst of drow in combat. That's been enough to make most people think twice about taking me one on one. Besides, I can always play dumb - as far as my people are concerned, women are in charge. Why would I give the message to him if there's clearly a female leader as well?" He shrugged. "I'll hold that plan in reserve though. That's almost more dangerous than a decoy missive. Point is: a second message would be hard to explain. I can lie my way out of trouble if I have to." He thought for a moment, "One more question and then I will be ready: who should I say sent the message, if asked?"
