Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The goggles he had acquired in Cascadia pressed tightly against his face as Kal soared through the clouds, his artificial wings stretched out behind him, allowing him to glide smoothly along. Chill wind ruffled his hair and cloak froze his skin, but at least the dizziness from being so high up had subsided after he had begun chewing on a mouthful of greenish leaves he had bought in the city after hearing about their supposed useful properties. Along with relieving the illness, it also helped with the vast amount of stamina flying consumed. Though the wings ran off his body's innate supply of mana, since they were connected to his nervous system by nodes surgically embedded into his back they still required natural energy.

The pack that he had carefull tied to his person contained his reason for traveling so far out of his way from his journey to Istan; a contract from an organization that based itself in Cascadia known as the Mystical Creatures Rights Association. It was mostly funded by wealthy nobles that wanted to look good by supporting a non-profit group that acted for the "betterment of all of nature's eccentric critters". It was a load of dragon dung to Kal, but the MCRA had a treasury full of coin, and were happy to use it to hire mercenaries to carry out their objectives, even if it meant violence. Supposedly, they had so many sponsers that they could form a small army if they wanted, and their finances had to closely regulated by outside officials in order to keep them from doing so. When he had heard that they were calling for assistance in a high-priority mission, he readily accepted.

Now, he was flying towards a large stretch of ruins on the plains that once was a large city, but was now the meeting place between a band of poachers that were quickly becoming notorious in Imythess, and some band of criminals that apparently bought their catches from them. That was all the information the MCRA could gather from their informants. He would have to improvise to deal with the rest.

As he began to fly over the shattered walls of the ruins he angled himself into a dive, using slight changes in his wings to change his trajectory. Here was where it got difficult. Keeping himself in flight was easy enough now that his brain had gotten used to manipulating the metallic appendages, but he hadn't quite gotten the hang of landing yet. As he neared the ground he tilted his wings up and began a quick downward glide, searching for a good place to land. He spotted an area relatively rubble-free and touched down, quickly folding his wings against his back as his momentum carried him forward briefly before skidding to a stop. A quick look around told him that no enemies were around, and he quickly ducked into the crumbling doorward of an old building made of stone. Crude stairs led up to a second floor, with the wall completely demolished. He knelt and pulled a small looking glass from his pack, using it to scan the surroundings. Seeing nothing, he moved to the other side of the building and did the same.

He stopped when he saw a group of five. Each carried containers, some with bars like cages, while others were completely closed off, hiding what was inside, though he already knew that would be holding rare animals, some magical and some simply endangered, but all quite valuable in illegal business. They were currently talking to a man with a sword on his hip, and Kal saw another ran standing on a rooftop nearby, a crossbow trained on them. After more words were exchanged, the group began walking down the eroded streets and out of sight.

Kal lowered the looking glass, considering the information he had gleaned from his reconaissance. Guards were most likely strewn throughout the ruins. He'd have to be careful advancing. Flying was no longer an option. He picked up his belongings and exited the structure, drawing a throwing knife in one hand in case he was ambushed. It was time to get this job underway.
