| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Amazment, this was the sum of what this young man was feeling right now. Sure he had many mixed emotions, like happiness, joy, excitment and many others, but they all added to the sensation of amaze that filled his soul. Magic was his realm, it was what he spent and wasted most of his time on, whether being buried under stacks of books, or in a field casting the very magic he studied. All of it was what he considered his profession, a castor of the arcane arts, and studier of the ancient realm beyond this planet. Xene studied this stuff, and knew it all in his mind, but he had yet had the chance to experience many magical encounters in his life. Most times he was alone in a library or a dusty basement. He had no friends, no adventures, it was a boring life that he had been so contempt with, up until now. Xene was tired of sitting in dimly lit inns, eating alone, studing until his eyes burned. He wanted adventure in his life, he wanted to live like the wizards and warlocks he read about. He wanted to discover ancient cities, fight off terrible beast, and maybe even fall in love. But all of this was just a dream, a dream he would strive for, and this was the first step. He had never been to Striberg before, actually he had never really ventured to far from the academy before. He had read books about this great magical city, and all the history behind it. It was amazing how the city was on an ice berg, and protected by a magical barrier. Xene was full of wonder just by being here, admiring the city and all of its splendor. This was what he wanted, to become a master of the magic arts, so skilled he could create something like this. It was good to have dreams. The city was warm, a nice pleasant day to be out on the town. The city streets were filled with many types of people, all going about their buissness like normal. Xene must have stood out like a sore thumb, for he looked lost and confused, not really sure where to take his next step. He had his long blue robes on, his Staff strapped to his back, and all of his spell books on his person. He strolled down what appeared to be the main street, since it had the most people and loudest noises coming from it. There was a variety of sights, sounds, and even smells that rushed his senses all at once. He was so overjoyed that he was not even sure what to do next. |

On the streets of Striberg, one of the sounds that drifted through the cacophony was that of a violin, playing a steady, upbeat tune, serving as a comforting background melody to the hustle and bustle of the commuting crowd. The source of the music was, in contrast, the picture of relaxation. He stood leaning against a wall, head bowed and eyes closed. There would be the occasional clink of coin in the open violin case at his feet, but it was the sounds of the passing crowd that caused him to occasionally glance up to watch. The bard had mixed impressions of Striberg. While it was a good place to play for money, since the bard to person ratio was more in his favor here than in Cascadia, but he'd had several bad experiences here, as well, such as being chased by a psychotic murderer and facing down some of the invading Queen's forces. Still it was warmer here than outside the walls, and the magic here was something that always held something new to learn. Possibly that was why he kept returning. As he watched, he saw a skinny man in blue robes with a staff on his back walk past, staring around him in overwhelmed amazement or confusion. He had to be new here, and so taken in by the iceburg city that his steps slowed to nearly dragging, uncertain where he should go or what he should do in the crush of people and sights. The bard began to add another layer to the music, spreading through the notes an echo of emotion, inspiring the listening crowd, and the robed man in question, to hold a bit more courage and confidence in themselves and whatever they were setting out to do. He smiled and kept playing, hoping the newcomer had a good day. Inspire Emotion (Courage)
