| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The chains were heavy on the prisoner's wrists, arcanite enchanted just to be as heavy as possible without breaking anything. No matter how badly his jailers may have wanted to kill the beast they caught, they had their orders and he already had his sentence. They had stripped him down to nothing but his soft hide briefs, not wanting to risk the possibility he had something hidden on his person, something that could help him escape. He wouldn't carry any such thing under normal circumstances, he didn't really need to worry about being caught. He cursed the pandaren's existence as he leaned back, his scarred flesh pressing against the cool stone of his cell as he shut his eyes. There was no sound of battle outside, night time was reserved for stealthier tactics of warfare and proved far less entertaining. One shouldn't hear an assassination and the barbarian couldn't hear a single death. It annoyed him, he missed the sounds of battle, of his bandits fighting for superior rank or simply to survive an argument. He enjoyed the raids on caravans of unsuspecting and poorly guarded traders. All he got in this cell was some gruel that could barely be called edible and the sounds of some prisoners arguing over who was dumber. He wished that the last thought was a joke but it really wasn't, one of the arguments had quickly devolved into a childish argument of pathetic insults and promises of killing each other. Maybe it kept them sane to believe they could get free long enough to rip each other apart, but this part of the Striberg prison was reserved for the dangerous and the dead who had yet to be put down, usually both and sometimes the dead had rotting flesh. Now everything was just quiet, nothing audible save for the barbarian's own breath which caught what little bit of light it could through the small window above its source. The barbarian sought comfort in the fact that his death shouldn't be too much longer. They had spent months determining just what the perfect punishment for their captive would be. He had committed more crimes than they could count and those were just the ones that they knew about. He showed no remorse for his actions and when brought forth often joked about it before insulting his captors as if he were the one still in control. He didn't care, he had survived so long on his violence that he figured the gods were just balancing things out. It was a good run but even he knew that all good things eventually had to come to an end. It was unfortunate because he had actually been thinking of more ways to torture people before violently killing them, ways that had never been transcribed to any sort of parchment and might not be envisioned for hundred of years to come. He smiled as he re-imagined one of the methods, listening to the screams that didn't exist. Sitting there he looked like exactly what he was; he was a caged beast just short of rabid. The timing of the toothy and wicked grin couldn't have been timed any more perfectly if he tried, the sounds of armored footsteps coming through the dark halls of the prison. The barbarian watched the light on the floor glow brighter and brighter. They didn't need guards to slip gruel in past the bars to the corpses, that meant it must have finally been time to bring an end to their prisoner. They stopped in front of his cell, two armored guards and a few unarmed people that he had seen at some of his hearings in the past. The one in the middle, who the barbarian just knew was going to be the one to open his weirdly shaped mouth, was bald and scrawny with shiny robes that brought a memory back to his mind. Put simply the allure of sleeping on a pile of one's riches was vastly overrated. "What took you so long? Thought I was gonna have to off myself at this rate." The prisoner spoke, cutting off his smug jailer with the pure purpose of enraging him. The bald man ruffled his cloak and crumpled his face, clearly more than ready to end this whole situation. "For all of the crimes and atrocities you have committed against Striberg alone, this punishment doesn't seem nearly fit enough for you. At least I'll be able to sleep soundly knowing that your reign will be over, Aruk." The bald man snarled with a wave of his hand, signaling the opening of the gate. |
