Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Bastet was in her human form, well... human like form. She was not about to give up her hearing or her balance. It was hard enough walking on two legs. Like she could manage it without her tail! She knew that wearing clothing was important in her human form. She didn't know why, only that it was important. She wondered if it was because they didn't have fur.

She didn't pay any attention to the way people looked at her as she walked across the pathways from tree-top to tree-top. She was wearing the dust-covered remains of what once had been a straght jacket, worn backwards now. In all truth it didn't really look like one anymore. More like a heavy cloth shirt with buckles down the front and sleeves that had been torn off. Under that she wore a skirt that reached her dirt-stained knees. Both her arms and legs were bare. Bastet's clothing wasn't dirty exactly, just rather worn and stained from travel.

She wandered into a few shops as she went along. One was a herb shop. Thankfully she lost interest before catching the smell of catnip. Another shop was full of cloaks and wraps. She thought they smelled funny and wandered away from there as well. The next shop was more interesting. There was armor there. It was a nice mix of elven metalwork and leather armor. She ignored the metal stuff and was looking at the leather.

Most of the things were much too big for her small frame. She did however find some soft leather bracers. She picked them up and tried them on. A small purr escaped from her throat. She left them on for a little longer as she looked at a few other things made of the same leather. It wasn't long before she grew board and went to leave.

As she started to walk out the door, she heard shouting behind her. "Hey! You have to pay for those!" She turned to see a very angry looking man. Her ears went back flat against her head. She didn't know why he was yelling or what he was talking about. She was about to ask when he left from behind the counter and started for her.

She panicked. Her tail bristled and she bolted out the door. This seemed to make the man more upset. "Stop! Thief!" The man shouted. It was a words she didn't really know what it meant. In her mind it translated to 'everyone chase her' which scared her all the more. She saw out of the corner of her eye some people coming after her. She made an odd sound, trying to make a panicked cat-like noise and failing because her human like vocal cords simply were unable to make the sound. She started to dodge past people, seeing them as only accomplices to the horrid declaration of 'everyone chase her'. She was more frightened then normal because of being up in the trees. It made it too hard to focus on shifting. If she could have focused, she would change into a cat. However, that idea was no where on her mind right now. She just needed the people to stop following her.

Bastet dodged back and forth and down side paths until she found herself crossing the same path in front of the shop. She had somehow managed to get behind her chasers, though some were keeping close.

The treetop village nestled in Norwood Forest was really the only place one could reliably find Logan Pathwalker. While their goods and services were not as abundant or diverse as, say, Taras or Istan, the proximity to his peaceful hermitage within and its rather pleasant and uneventful day-to-day operations made it the ideal retreat for the ranger, who still enjoyed peace and solitude despite coming out of retirement from his adventuring days. Today, however, seemed to buck that trend.

What could be going on here?, Logan's thoughts grumbled to him, being roused from something of a mild meditation as he sat upon a bench out on one of the vistas in the treetops. The sound that roused him was the frantic slapping of bare feet upon the wooden pathways, and as the ranger opened his eyes he see a young girl, seemingly about fifteen years of age, wearing a rather tattered outfit running away from several village guards and the angry owner of a crafts shop that Logan had parked himself in front of. Sitting up on his bench, now, he observed how the girl had now seemingly wound up running circles around the shop, dodging and weaving as the guards continued giving chase.

While Logan could have just drawn back the tail of his longcoat, drawn his sword and then threatened the girl with it to make her surrender...well, he was quite tired at the moment. Instead, the ranger innocently stretched his arms and legs, extending his lower limbs into the pathway right in front of the girl, who appeared to have cat-like ears, seeking to trip her. If it worked, she'd fall flat on her face and leave her completely vulnerable for arrest by the village guards.

She was getting even more confused as well and frightened. She felt her heart pounding in her chest so hard it reminded her of a butterfly. Why were there so many of them still?! She normally could outrun them. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw an opening between two buildings with a bunch of branches that could lead to the ground safely. She dodged past a small group of people who seemed mostly surprised to see her. Safety! She could get there!

Then... the world was yanked out from under her. The wooden walkway leaped up at her and she threw her arms up to protect herself. The bracers reacted too, turning into plated steel magically. She landed with a loud clang that was nearly deafening due to how close the sound was to her ears. She was shocked, not sure why the bracers had done that or why she was now laying flat on her belly on the path. She didn't have time to recover. Two pairs of hands grabbed her roughly as the bracers turned back to leather before her eyes. One person had her my the right shoulder and had removed the bracer on her right hand before placing a hand cuff on that wrist. The other person had her left elbow and removed the other bracer before forcing her arm behind her back to be cuffed to the other. She could still see the safe way down, but now she couldn't reach it... She would have to wait for another chance. And for her ears to stop ringing.

The guards had seen Logan's actions, but made sure the girl was in custody and the shop owner had agreed that yes, those were the bracers she stole. As they got the girl back to her feet, she seemed to droop. Though her eyes were wide and she was clearly frightened. She had skinned her knee, but not badly, and the bracers she no longer wore had saved her from further injury. She still didn't know what was going on though, just that she didn't want to be there.

The barefoot girl's arrest by the town guard was quick and efficient. The ranger was content to simply watch from his bench and observe their work rather than get up and try to assist. Her hands were quickly cuffed behind her back and she was picked up and led away down the street, her cat ears drooping as they took her away.

Rising from his seat, Logan took to slowly following the officers and their prisoner and observe the situation. The girl seemed desperate to try and get free, but the officers held fast and kept her secure. He followed them until they'd reached the town lockup, where the guards and the girl disappeared inside. Logan elected to wait outside, for the time being, and contemplate possible heading inside to see how the girl was reacting, for she didn't seem to have the mannerisms of a typical thief.
