"An evil ice queen sir. An evil ice queen has bonded her castle to our city! We must stop her at all costs!" Lazarus looked at the young guardsman. "I need a full report. What does our battlefield look like?" "Sir, there are many berserkers and golems marching across the ice, I think they want to take Striberg desperately. And.." Lazarus gave a frustrated look at the young man. "And what guardsman?" "Well s-sir there is, a dragon. An ice dragon is leading the ice queen's forces." "A dragon you say? Well my boy you hired the right man for the job." "Sir you've fought dragons before?"

"...Never a day in my life.."

The man looked fearfully at Laz, he was shaking as he noticed the man wore no chest armor and fought with a large glaive. The young man had seen many strange things but this took the cake. Either the sell-sword was crazy, he had a death wish, or he actually had the strength to combat a dragon.

"You look scared guardsman." Lazarus spoke out and broke the young man's thought. "If you are worried about my sanity or, my position in the fight. You should be. It will make you a great a leader one day. But today, today I am your commander. I have been hired to lead you guards in an assault against the white queen's army. Whether or not you live or die is not my concern. My concern is completing the job and making my prize."

Lazarus was laying the truths of the world on the young man one, by one. Hoping the young man would either buckle under the stress or come from beneath the weight a champion. This day would prove his future, as well as the futures of many others. Lazarus couldn't lie and say he had no interest in this city's affairs. Lazarus enjoyed Striberg, they made good cake here.

He heard the horns sound and the guards began to march. Lazarus was about to stand and issue orders to the troops when suddenly he heard a cowering voice grow deep and strong. "Men of Striberg. Today we conquer the White Queen's army! This man will lead us, and we will win."

Lazarus laughed and cracked his knuckles. "Leave the dragon to me."

Jinjo sat at a bar victoriously drinking from a mugs he looked out to the rest of the tavern, a smile on his bear-like face. All around there were people beaten bloody and bruised, all singing their drunken songs and laughing as they drank their ale. Just a few moments earlier there had been a large brawl of which the pandaren came out on top. Considering that at one point he had five people attacking him at once made it a rather amazing feat, especially since he didn't even dare use his Phoenix Talons for the fight. If they weren't using conventional weapons, neither was he. In the end he hadn't even used a bar stool to fight. Sure he might have been as beaten as any of the other drunken brawlers, but he was also bigger than they were; he could take more of a beating by nature.

He happily turned around as somebody poked the back of his shoulder, it was the bartender returning his wide-rimmed hat to him. Jinjo had been smart enough to hand that over to someone that rarely found themselves entangled in messy fights. He didn't say anything, instead simply smiling and giving a nod as he put the hat back on top of his furry head and gave her a few silver of an extra tip for being so kind as to hold onto his hat for him.

For a while he had simply sat there, blissfully drinking his ale and occasionally laughing at some drunkard's comment. Unfortunately the bliss was interrupted as a man walked up to him, cautiously and dressed in some warmer clothes for the winter season.

"That was amazing!" The man commented to the pandaren. Jinjo simply shrugged it off, finding it to be nothing more than a typical night in a tavern full of volatile drunkards who were more than happy to take some sort of anger out on anything they could; the reason Jinjo's hat was behind the bar with the pretty bartender.

"Why aren't you in Striberg?"
"I don't even know where Striberg is." Jinjo shrugged before taking another drink of his ale, the man looking flabbergasted at the notion. The pandaren figured that this man probably was from Striberg, though that still didn't explain just why he said that the bodyguard should be in Striberg.

"There's an assault going on in Striberg! Against Striberg! If you can fight like that then you could help defend the city!"
Jinjo sighed, thinking it over for a moment. While the notion of helping defend a city from whatever was going on did seem like a good way to get some notoriety, he still had no clue where it was or how to get there. More importantly was that he had no idea just how much it might cost to get to Striberg.
"So? I don't work for free. I still don't even have a clue where Striberg is." He shrugged, checking to make sure his Phoenix Talons were still placed well on his back, which they were. He wore them like a couple of shields so much that he occasionally forgot they were even there. Helpful for travel, not so helpful when he was getting attacked, "Shiny things and information are a good way to get my help, though."

It didn't take more than a moment for the man to give up everything he had: His money, the information. Considering that the man just happened to be carrying around a little over two dozen gold pieces, Jinjo figured that he must have been a merchant. Merchants often paid well for protection of something.

-----------------------

It was almost two weeks later when Jinjo finally arrived in Striberg and began to coordinate with the soldiers and guards of the city. He noticed plenty of other mercenaries and bodyguards running around with the pack, though he didn't recognize anybody in particular. What free time he had he spent at a tavern that was serving discounted drinks to the defender's of Striberg; Earthtouch was of course drinking what he could and spent time talking to one of the soldiers that had been there since the whole mess started.

A few moments later one of the soldiers from Striberg's defense came in through the tavern door and called out to assemble outside for a speech from their division's leader. It seemed like things were about to start getting fun.

The pandaren followed the crowd outside and looked over the heads of many men to a somewhat timid figure that stood in a clearing.

"Men of Striberg. Today we conquer the White Queen's army! This man will lead us, and we will win." Came his voice, quickly rising to bravery. Jinjo found himself thanking the gods that the young man with the false courage wasn't the one leading them into battle. The last thing that the bodyguard wanted was to risk fighting a dragon if the leader was just going to lose his head at the sight. Of course, Jinjo didn't particularly want to face a dragon either, especially in unfamiliar territory but if he was going to: he didn't want to worry about a drop in morale from his allies when the leader got eaten.

Lazarus lifted his glaive and swung it wildly in the air. "Soldiers! Prepare for death!" The group became hushed. Whispers from men all around doubting him because of his order. It was no secret that a man unprepared for death was useless in a war. He pointed around the room and began to assign men to smaller groups. He surveyed all the hired bodyguards and mercs only to notice a rare sight. A pandaren was in the forces, this amused Lazarus.

Making his way across the room he tapped three men on the shoulders and pointed them towards the bear. "A pandaren? That's a rare sight around these parts to be sure, not that I've ever met one of your kind before. I figure you're strong, I'll put you and these men on the front. Do Striberg proud." One of the men near the entrance scoffed at Lazarus' decision to make Jinjo a commander. "Why the hell is he commanding our men? I am a man of Striberg not him!"

Laz threw his glaive, piercing the man's shoulder and locking him to the wall. "My name is Lazarus the reckless. I'm a well known sellsword from Cascadia. I was hired for both my fearlessness and my tactical skills. I am your commander in this fight, and I select those strong enough to lead." The man got mad and yelled back. "I don't give a damn what your name is! To me you are just another weak mercenary who came here to die at the order of a coin! I have no respect for any of you. And especially not someone who isn't even human!"

Lazarus removed his glaive from the man's shoulder and grabbed him by the collar. "Bigot." He scoffed as he threw the man onto a nearby table. "You're dying first."

"Soldiers! Prepare for death!"

Even Jinjo had to pause for a moment at that shouting. While most soldiers did need to prepare for the fact that they could die, it wasn't exactly something that people liked to hear right before a big battle that may or may not involve a dragon. Dragons were often big, powerful and ornery, not to mention seemed to have a knack for eating people. Of course, he didn't even say anything to this fact, covering his face with a large furry hand. He was stuck with this man being his leader and was expected to survive. He wasn't getting paid nearly enough for this mess.

Of course by having his hand covering his face meant that for a moment he could not see, which meant that he could not see the man that was staring at him for a moment nor did he pay attention to the fact that the larger group was being divided into smaller ones. He raised his head when he heard himself being addressed by the same voice that gave the idea to the soldiers that they were probably all going to die. Again: sure most of them might die, but this man didn't seem to know the better parts of morale building. And as expected, Jinjo saw the man standing right in front of him and didn't even bother trying to hide the fact that he was having second thoughts about taking this job.

Yes, he was a rare sight. Yes, he was somewhat proficient in hitting things hard enough to send them into the next week. No , that did not make him a good choice to be a group commander. Honestly, the bodyguard couldn't help but agree with the man that said he shouldn't be the group commander, not that Eathtouch thought that the loud-mouthed man that spoke up would be any better a commander.

The pandaren didn't even flinch when he saw the glaive get thrown through the man's shoulder, he didn't cringe when he heard the whole and angry back and forth between the two people. He simply reached back and grabbed his Phoenix Talons, taking a moment to put them firmly on his hands over his fingers. While he might find that the Stribergian or whatever they're called was quick to bigot, he was supposed to apparently be on Jinjo's team.

After knocking together the cloth-covered knuckles of the Phoenix Talons the pandaren would move in between the bigot and the Reckless guy, an annoyed expression planted firmly on his face. He didn't say anything to the fact that the man ad just assigned him somebody and then was trying to kill him off. The world was filled with bigots and those were one of the many things that Jinjo just started shrugging off. He couldn't get rid of them without putting himself in a cell so he didn't bother.

The bodyguard would offer one of his large armored hand forward for Lazarus to shake.

"Name's Jinjo." Was all that he said.

Lazarus extended his hand towards Jinjo's. "It's a pleasure to meet you in Jinjo. I expect you shall be a great asset in this fight, as most of your kind tend to be strong and reliable." He threw his glaive over his shoulder and nodded towards two men in the corner. "Soldiers, myself and the advance squad will be heading directly for the helm. We will distract the dragon. The soldiers, the golems, those are your priority. Jinjo, I will trust you with the main force. Let's win this battle."

The soldiers all rallied and yelled out chants and battle cries. Lazarus led his two men into the field and pointed at the army's general. His soldiers charged forward and cut down the soldiers in their path. Lazarus found himself face to face with a land serpent, nodding towards his men to move forward he readied his weapon.

The snake lunged at him and he parried it's initial blow. Cutting down it's side with the tip of his glaive- he spun to avoid its tail only to get bitten in the leg. He cringed from the pain but he was still holding steady. He jumped from side to side poking at the beast, its large torso allowed it to take many beatings and still fight strong.

Lazarus jumped back into a small field of ice rock, the snake had a hard time making its way through. Lazarus spun and threw his glaive- it missed the snake and flew directly over its head. It hissed and showed its massive fangs. In a moment of shock Laz began to run away, the snake chasing closely. He tripped- the snake jumped blood dripping from its fangs.

Right as it was about to reach Lazarus- he remembered his trump card. "Return to me, my blade." His glaive reacted with it's returning enchant and thrust itself directly through the serpent.

He smiled as he lay wounded, casting a healing spell upon himself. "One down."

"Actually, most of my kind tend to be drunkards who like fighting. The reason we're friendly with dwarves and orcs alike." Jinjo chuckled, speaking the inside truth that he knew of his own people... to a point. He left out the part where some of the most dangerous pandarens were highly skilled in both hand-to-hand combat as well as elemental magic. A fight with a pandaren was a fight for the strong-willed unless the pandaren were named Jinjo Earthtouch. The Earthtouch family as a whole had more of a knack for a more brutal and blunt fighting style; strong, sturdy and blunt like the Earth, where they got their name from. The Phoenix Talons Jinjo won in a bet against the second son of the same generation as him from the Firebrew family. The game was drinking and the Earthtouches were better drinkers than the Firebrew family.

As the crazy reckless man would leave, the pandaren would turn around and help the man with a hole in his shoulder off of the table with a sigh. That whole situation was very obnoxious and over quick and left Jinjo questioning once more following this man into battle. Short-tempered, impulsive and quite possibly stupid; Lazarus seemed to be the very kind of man whose army would get killed off because he stopped to fight with an ant hill and its tiny little insect soldiers!

"Shut up, get healed and move out. Lazarus might get everybody else killed but I'm a bodyguard and despite what I think of you so far, you're not about to die on my watch." He said, allowing no arguments from the bigoted man as he turned and left, waiting around just long enough for the man to get healed before he set out into the damned war zone with his assigned soldiers. Of course there was the fleeting thought that made his heart sink for a moment, if these Stribegians actually had any clue how to actually fight or if they had just been given some gear and an attitude. Oh gods how Jinjo prayed that these men knew how to hold the swords they were given. If they didn't, then there really wasn't any way that Jinjo could see about keeping them alive.

Berserkers were a pain in the ass any day of the week, anywhere in the world. Unfortunately that was what Jinjo and his team had to face in battle. Jinjo took up most of the work as two of the raging blue-skinned humanoids came charging at him while his allies tried to not get torn apart by the berserker rage. The pandaren was forced to face them alone but the Phoenix Talons did more than enough to deal with the threat. As the berserkers attacked they found their weapons flying through the air after coming in contact with the massive wrapped claws. Of course, a berserker losing its weapon didn't stop their rage, but a large bear-man smashing in their faces while wearing enchanted claws the size of a tower shield did.

Lazarus tore his staff from the carcass of the large snake beast. His two advance soldiers called out for him at the sight of the dragon. They drew out their bows and began to lay down a blanket of arrows. "I didn't expect that we'd encounter him so soon. This is bad-- the rest of the army isn't even here yet.."

The dragon was large, maybe twenty feet in height, probably three times as long. It was pure silver with white fur patches on certain limbs. It had diamond talons and its eyes had the appearance of a blind creature. It's roar shook the ice and nearly knocked the men off of their feet. "Is that so? Men, keep him occupied, entertain him from two sides and I'll attempt to flank him from behind.." "Sir, is that wise?" "Probably not, but we don't have many alternatives."

Lazarus wouldn't lie and say he wasn't horrified-- the thought of fighting a gigantic ice dragon, the thought of the dragons army around. He knew that he had possibly dug his own grave. For once he realized that he had been too overly reckless. In general he could control his actions better but in the heat of the moment Lazarus would often lose control.

Jinjo took a moment to look over the unconscious bodies of the berserkers, their faces bloodied and their worlds upside down but they weren't down for the count just yet. The pandaren sighed at the sight of the growling blue-skins launching to their feet unsteadily, forgetting about their weapons and beginning to charge the bodyguard once again. Berserkers were always obnoxious, nonstop until they were unconscious or dead and for blue-skins there was a fine line between the two. As long as he kept them down and back he could keep the advantage. In raw strength he was the more dangerous, with his skills of brawling he was more powerful and within a moment the berserkers crashed against the ground once again, snarling as they began to pick themselves up again. Finally his team came in to help, the best time that they could as they brought their swords through the necks of the blue-skinned hides.

"Okay, so we're going to have to face more of those... a lot more." Jinjo said, under his breath but loud enough for his group to hear over the distant sounds of battle. One might think for a moment that things could not sound much worse than the idea of facing berserkers coming from every direction that they could and that was the risk they were taking. Jinjo's group had been making its way through a scarcely threatened area to try and flank other soldiers of the White-Whoever's army. The bodyguard still hadn't bothered to learn her name, he didn't think it mattered; maybe what he should have learned was the dragon's flight pattern, though. The soldiers' morale shrunk even more when they heard the massive wings beating against the cool Striberg air.

"Oh gods we're all dragon food!" Cried one of the men assigned to Jinjo, not the bigot. The bigot was too proud to admit to the fact it took every ounce of his will to keep from defecating himself.
"Maybe but probably not!" Jinjo said, glaring to the man who was so quick to say what they were all thinking. Unlike Lazarus the Reckless, Jinjo actually cared if his men had enough morale to throw themselves willingly into the line of fire with some sliver of hope that they were going to win. Against a dragon they probably were going to end up its meal all the same, but maybe they could at least give it mild indigestion.
"You are not seriously considering that we go anywhere near that beast, are you!?" The same man cried out, possibly crying underneath his helmet, too. Jinjo just shrugged in response and started walking down the street, trying to figure out how to get to where it landed. It only took the bigot a moment to catch up to Jinjo and give him actual directions to which he reassured the pandaren would be their complete and utter demise.
"At least you're not crying about it." Joked Earthtouch to the bigot as they walked down the road while the coward ran the other direction.

It would take the three men left over a moment to get around to actually seeing the hide of the dragon. The bodyguard would motion for them to keep quiet though, watching Lazarus the Reckless' plan on dealing with a dragon for a moment. It was quite possible that Jinjo knew more about the large scaly beasts since he had bothered to talk to them before. Before and after the Fall of Agriir. The pandaren's guess was that fire might work best on at least annoying it into leaving.

He paid no mind to the rest of the army. His two advance soldiers closed in on the dragon as per his orders. Their weapons pinned into it's scaly claws. "Alright men! This is our final push! Either we bring down the dragon, or our dead have died in vain!" Lazarus let out a loud battle cry. Unaware to him was the dragon was unbeatable. None of the men would know this, save a few who made the conclusion. A losing battle was a losing battle, and this was definitely just that.

He darted around the back of the dragon and grabbed a hold of its tail. It flew into a violent rage and threw him into the air. He spun and used his glaive's weight to anchor him towards the dragon's back. It let out a scream as he landed on it's back. Digging in his glaive he commanded, "men. It can bleed! It will die!"

Jinjo watched what he could only describe as the battle of a truly reckless man against a fearsome beast, a mighty dragon versus an impulsive human. Not only did he think that their group of soldiers could actually stand in a fight against such a creature but he seemed to believe that they also had an actual chance at healing. From what the pandaren could guess as he watched the initial move of Lazarus’ assault, the dragon was a quiet type, playing with its kill. No doubt it had a breath weapon and more than enough knowledge to have used it to dispatch the annoying group as soon as possible. Did that mean that the dragon was playing with them? Most likely. Jinjo might not have been a reliable strategist, preferring to just jump into the middle of a fight and swing his arms wildly until something fell down, but he had talked to enough people who were to be able to fake it and not get himself killed. This dragon must have been playing with them, it wasn’t talking. From Jinjo’s experience they could talk common quite well. That just made things worse because it meant that at any given time it could decide that it would want to make fun of them.

The pandaren sighed as he looked to his men.

“Stay away from its front end and its back end, the tail and the mouth are equally as dangerous, the wings aren’t nearly as bad. If the dragon starts turning, hit the ground. That way you won’t get crushed by its tail or nearly badly hurt from its breath. We’re joining in on this fight. Don’t expect to win but try to plan to run this thing off; if it starts getting bored it might blanket the area with its breath, assuming it doesn’t have magic. Ready your shields for that.” Jinjo commanded with a huff as he turned back to face the direction of the dragon, preparing to get into one of the dumbest fights of his life. While it might have scored rather high in his lists of stupid fights, it wasn’t the first. Maybe it ranked third or fourth but definitely not even second. Dragons were dangerous creatures, especially since they had (at least) the mental capacity of your average citizen humanoid. If this one was commanding armies then it probably had a god sense of strategic planning, as well.

“Alright men, move out and if you can tell Lazarus’ soldiers what I told you, no sense in them dying because their leader’s a reckless buffoon!” The pandaren called out before rushing forward, his fingers outstretched so that he could try and damage the dragon. He wasn’t about to call forth the flames of his shield just yet, no sense in playing his cards before he knew at least some of what his enemy was holding. Given the setting of this whole fight he was hoping that it might turn out to be a frost dragon, particularly annoyed by fire. It was a gamble… unfortunately Jinjo didn’t have a good past with gambling.
