Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kaess was in the thick of the battle on one of the bridges. He had just been doing that tournament and now this fight had broken out. It certainly seemed like all help was needed so there wasn’t much else to do, but help defend the city. Now it was all chaos and there was hardly time to think most of the time. He moved swiftly as he kicked a golem square in its midsection, sending it flying off the bridge towards the waters bellow.

He noticed several enemies coming at him and he let his foot comedown he sent out a wave of fire all around him. It stopped three out of the four for a moment, but the fourth charged forth with a wild scream seeming to ignore pain. Kaess’s form blurred as he ducked under the wildly swung axe and punched through the man’s stomach with his clawed gauntlets. With his strength he then through the man off his hand back towards the others who were now charging.

He then sprang forward clawing out one warrior’s throat and kicked another who was slowed by the flying body. Feeling the man’s neck snap he moved to the last one breathing draconic fire over the man. The one lit on fire started to scream as he ran off the bridge himself as he tried to get rid of the flames that wouldn’t come off until the man was burned to ash.

Surprisingly for a few moments it seemed he had a small break in the fighting near him. The odd moments like this wouldn’t last long so he looked towards where the defense needed help. It was then that he spotted her surrounded in a circle of death much like his own. He couldn’t help saying a few words out loud even if they weren’t likely to be heard over the din of the battle, “Oh jeez it just had to be her and she had to fight on the same bridge as me.” It was Shalia and if the past was any evidence this would make it a very long day.

Shalia was angry. Angry about being disqualified from the tournament. Once again, it seemed these 'fights' moved the weak on ahead of the strong. Had she wanted to kill the woman, she could have done so before she could even blink.

Then ontop of that, the city was now under attack. Normally she would simply up and leave, but the enemy had attempted attack her. Now it was time for her to return the favor. She was on one of the bridges, her blades flashing around her in a deadly dance. Anyone foolish enough to get in her range ended up dead.

There was a brief moment when the area around her was completely clear. She glanced over to the side and her jaw dropped. What in the nine hells was THAT fool doing here?! Why did Kaess always seem to show up at the most unconvient times?

He was not that far from her. Instead of giving him any greeting, or yelling at him. She lifted a hand and began to chant. When she released the spell, she pointed it at him. Knowing that fire was useless against him, she released a ball of icy cold fire in his direction.

Kaess was shocked back to reality quickly as he saw Shalia start casting a spell. He noted that other opponents were also approaching, but the ball of blue flames was coming at him faster than that. Normally he would have just taken a hit from flames, but something seemed off about this ball of flames. He moved quickly, but the as the ball speed past him missing by a hair’s breath. He could feel the cold off of these flames. He wasn’t entirely sure he could have bent those flames away from himself.

He then yelled over the din of battle, “Good grief you hate me so much you try to kill me in the middle of a battle like this. Or are you fighting for the other side?” A part of Kaess couldn’t believe he was hated this much. Another part of him was saying this was only to be expected from Shalia. She was unstable at the best of times and she hated him.

Before he could move closer to her to give her a piece of his mind another wave of enemies descended on both him and Shalia. He let his body flow as the first enemy struck towards him with an axe. He looked like a strong warrior, but wasn’t very fast and Kaess side stepped around and his leg came out slashing the back of the warrior’s leg cutting through his muscles. He twisted leaving the toppling warrior as he spun to the next warrior slashing into the man’s belly. He had literally torren from one side to the other tearing off a crude breast plate. The club from the second warrior fell away as the warrior stumbled back from the wound. He then moved again dancing his way slowly getting closer to Shalia. He would give her a piece of his mind no matter what.

It was sort of odd in the fact he didn’t know which he would dislike more. Her working for the White Queen’s army or her blasting a dangerous spell at him when she should be at least temporarily on his side.

The only answer she gave the half-dragon was a harsh glare. She could not stand him. She hated anyone who thought they were better than someone else due to birth or because they walked a 'higher road.' Kaess fell into the latter. She was still extreemly mad about him refusing to train her because of the 'darkness in her heart.'

But right now she had something else to worry about. A new wave of enemies were fast approaching. The tiefling hissed in frustration as she raised her blades. The poor fools that attacked her never stood a chance. Dealing with Shalia when she was calm or annoyed was bad enough, dealing with her when she was angry was suicide.

Twin blades flashed out as she began her deadly dance. She really did not take note of any one person. She just merely would dodge or parry a weapon before retaliating with her own. All this time she kept an eye on Kaess who was slowly make his way towards her through the din of battle.

What on earth did the fool want this time?

Kaess dodged and weaved through his opponents leaving most wounded, dead or destroyed behind himself. Still there were many people and even his skills couldn’t keep all of them off him forever. At one point he was left little choice besides literally going through an ice golem’s body to escape a particularly blood thirsty berserker. Kaess had broken three bones and given several wounds and the man had kept coming at him.

So, soon he was jumping smashing through a golem with his strength creating a large hole in the construct as he exited out the other side. Blinking as the shattering ice fragments flew out before him he saw that he had come a lot closer to Shalia then he had thought.

She wasn’t that far off and he was flying towards her. Managing to touch down on the ground he dug in his clawed boots with the new clampons he had added for fighting on these icy bridges. Slowly he slowed his forward slide and just in time in his opinion as he stopped just inches from being in range of Shalia’s blades piercing him.

He was a little nervous as he never had intended on getting this close to her. He had wanted to get in yelling range, not she can cut my guts out range. Still he was hear now so he might as well say what he had to say and get ready to dodge any attack she threw at him.

“Hey now no need to cut me open I just wanted to say that it was highly rude to just blast a person like that out of no where. Surely you aren’t on this White Queen’s side? And I happen to be on Striberg’s side as well, so can’t we just call a truce. Fighting while in the middle of a battle field would not be ideal you know.”

Shalia moved through the battle with a deadly grace. Most of these men where most likely hired swords, and bad ones. Some were actually compotant, and forced her to focus on them. But for the most part she found this a whole lot easier than fighting in the Blood Wars.

But this was not a battle to merely shrug off. If she made one mistake it would cost her her life. That is why she fought seriously and showed not mercy to any who dare attack her. She did not really care who they where, or what side they were on. If they threatened her, they died.

After disposing of a particually difficult opponant she glaced over to see Kaess coming at her. Casually she raised her icy katana and pointed it at him. She half hoped the fool would impail himself and end his existance. Although it was an empty hope. The half-dragon managed to skid to a stop mere inches from her blade. Although he did not seem to be too happy about that fact he was now in striking range of her.

Her lavander eyes narrowed at him. "Does it look like I am this White [removed]'s side? And the side I am on is my own. This city is just lucky that they are currently not on my bad side, while their enemies are."

She then noticed a man come up from behind Kaess, sword raised. He apparently was hoping to take the two of them down while they argued. Without giving any sort of warning Shalia swung her fire blade so quickly it just looked like a red blur. If Kaess did not duck in time he would loose his head along with this would be attacker.

Kaess was already prepared for the Shalia’s strike as soon as she made it. Ducking down he let his strength go free as he slammed into the Ice floor with one of his fists. His full strength going through the thing started a fracture moving along the ice. It wasn’t enough to come close to breaking the massive bridge, but it was enough to break up the terrain around them. He knew it would distract or delay Shalia for long, but it would probably cause other’s around them to stumble and he needed to distract those ones more, so he could focus on the more dangerous and unpredictable Shalia.

He did notice a head bounce past him at the same time and he responded to her last statement. “Really you are only here, because the other guy made you angry. Do you really need a reason to fight against a force invading a peaceful city. And here I thought you were doing something good for others. So much for the hope you had become a better person. Should have known since you tried to blast me and cut my head off without warning. Thanks for beheading that guy by the way, though warning is nice on those sorts of things.”

While speaking Kaess moved past Shalia’s right side coming up with an arm ready to block her next strike and as his other hand was going into slashing another opponents throat. The warrior never expected him to come under and around Shalia. He had chosen her right side as she had already swung her sword that way and wouldn’t easily strike at him while he passed and got back into a better position.

Shalia was not surprised when Kaess dodged the attack. She was more aiming for the man she beheaded than him really. Although Kaess did not seem to pleased about not getting a warning.

"I have no animosity for this city," she said simply. "The attackers are a different story. I do not attack those who do not deserve it."

Even in her obvious rage, there was an odd calm about her. Kaess had seen her fight before, but this was his first time seeing her in war. War is what she was born and breed for and what she was best at. She was able to use her anger to empower her abilities, yet not let them get out of control. It was like standing in the eye of the storm, where everything was calm yet you knew that danger was not far off.

Although Kaess being her was pushing her to the edge of her control. She had never met anyone she hated more than the half dragon. She had no respect for him as a person. The only thing about him that deserved any respect was his fighting abilities.

"Giving you a warning would have been a waste of words, and I would not have been able to kill the man so swiftly," she said calmly. Her voice showed now anger, just an erey battle calm. Though her eyes betrayed the fury raging within them. "I knew you would dodge, it was not like I was actually aiming at you. Trust me, if I was trying to kill you, you would know it."

As Kaess moved past, she moved as well. She was away of the man behind her, but knew that the half-dragon would take care of him. As she stepped past Kaess, she cut down another warrior. Once again she began her dance of blades, not exactly caring if Kaess was in the way of a strike or not. It was up to him to avoid being hit.

Kaess was never one to be surprised by much, but the cool calm of Shalia in the middle of battle disturbed him. It wasn’t the calm of someone who had achieved peace with themselves. It was more this calm that seemed to be holding back a tide of destructive emotions. It was the face of one who was one with war. Many could be used to battle, but this was a different level. She was a creature of war. Somehow realizing this made him feel like she was even farther away from any sort of good path.

“Really now not even I can always do things perfectly a warning before attacking would be much better.”

He saw a flying creature of some sort with bat wings dropping to dive at both of them. It looked to have fairly hard and sharp features around the front had ice formations almost like blades. Still everything else besides the front didn’t seem to threatening.

Kaess waited for the creature to come closer as he lept off of the body he had just killed and came underneath the creature. His foot came out kicking and slashing the creature. The creatures’ own speed tore open it’s belly. With the kick he had also nocked it off course. It wouldn’t hit dead center, but now would go a little beyond Shalia. There was a chance it might clip Shalia’s head and he decided that it was only fair to practice what he had just said and spoke.

“You may want to duck.” Spreading out his wings he slowed his decent to avoid the warriors pincushioning him as he fell back to earth. Luck was with him as most hadn’t noticed where he had gone in the confusion, though a few were looking as he had called out to Shalia. At the same time he wondered what else he could say to Shalia to maybe push her down a better path.
