It was that time of year again, as the icy undead rose, and this time Diana would hear more then rumors of the heroes that destroyed these creatures. But she had to move fast before they started to rise on their own, just before the magics of the seasons did their unnatural work and let them raise on their own. She was determined to keep at least one for herself. She went with the fire elemental, Fira, her worg, Ash, and her wisp, Hope, to help her keep back the waves she could not control.

Diana was rather new to all this necromancy and raising of the dead, but she knew the frosty undead would have to be weak to flames if she could not find any control over the creatures. The rest of her pets were back with her wagon, with her daughter. Diana still could hardly believe she had a daughter, and remembered at some point she would have to go tell her mother that she was a grandmother. Perhaps this would be the best season for such good news, after she did some business with a time limit.

Setting herself where she was sure the ancient dead would still lie she began to try enchanting the remains. The natural magics infused with her own, and an icy mist rose from the ground as a skeletal hand popped from the ground. Diana had a greedy gleam in her eye as the undead warrior was raised. There was not a bit of skin to tell whether she had raised a man or a woman, and she honestly did not know enough about the small anatomical details to tell the difference in only a skeleton, but it definitely had an icy chill about it and mist seemed to emanate from it's body.

"Work's done, let's-" Diana began to tell her pets, but several more hands had begun to rise, and a groan informed her that there was a thinking undead among them already taking in the wills of the others. "Well, I suppose we were a little late."

Everto waited in the area, his metal gauntlets had fused to his flesh, his magic was stronger then ever, he just needed a test to unleash his might. He knew about the undead coming here and new his magic would decimate them and he could get a little hand to hand practice in with his gauntlets. He decided to use his magic when only he was going to be overwhelmed, until then he would fight with his hands. He smacked his fists together, letting the metal clink together, he was ready to take on any number of undead.

He heard moaning and the slight rumble of the earth, it was coming from the west, he grinned as his fingertips became clawed, it was time to kill some undead beasts. He rushed to the area, ducking through areas thanks to his small body, it let him go through areas some others would ignore. He popped out, leaping onto a tombstone, thrusting his hand through the head of the undead just coming out, it was sheer luck but it should off some skill. He laughed as he leaped down, he saw a woman and some other creatures near her, but he had to ignore that for a bit, he was killing undead not fraternizing with some simpleton. He kept his hands working, his clawed hands ripping away at muscle to slow the undead even, allowing him to send them back to their graves with quick thrusts of his hands at their spines, the undead needed to be kept together to move, so he simply had his clawed hands rip them apart.

Diana drew her blade and gave a call for battle to her pets to join her. Hope flew up above, having already been taught she was to use her talents when she was called for specifically and staying out of the way and safe until then. Fira, muttering in her own language began to fire fist sized fireballs at the undead. Thanks mostly to the icy nature of these particular undead, Diana could see the fireballs were having greater effect then they would on the usual enemy.

The worg did not fear the slow moving undead, so she pounced the first one she saw that was not on Diana's side and tore it to pieces. Diana moved swiftly behind, deciding not to use any magic for such a thing as her own cold undead kept behind her to guard her from any surprises that might sneak up on her. As she began her own battle, Diana noticed someone else was helping to fight the undead. Of course, she had to assume this was someone here to kill undead and not just helping her. It was odd though, as they were rather... small.

The groans grew louder until they became a yell, and suddenly the icy undead began to form up and fight with more unity as a larger figure came behind them, cold glowing blue eyes staring out and meeting the world as his mind seemed to remake itself. A voice groaned out of it's skeletal mouth, masculine and deep, reverberating with ancient power, and it became clear it was speaking arcane words.

Everto grinned as his clawed hands ripped apart the cold legs of the undead, the wet flesh peeled off like dead skin beneath his quick attacks. He noticed though he was going to be surrounded soon, he gave a quick sharp whistle, calling in his back up, a drake with shimmering scales like mirrors dove down from one of the buildings nearby, Everto chuckled as he ducked to the side, scampering away as the glass drake breathed it's white flames down onto the foes that were chasing him, sending the ones he had injured to the ground while the others slowly made after Everto.

Everto turned to see how many were following, but it seems they had turned away and were not making themselves into a more powerful force, shielding a large undead, he could see the glowing blue eyes and he could hear the arcane words slowly coming from it's mouth. Everto chuckled as his finger started to glow, he started to write arcane script in the air, as if he was writing a math problem. He did not utter a word though, he need not use arcane words for his casting, he had learned ways to get around it. His glass drake was already flying high above the undead, breathing flames down upon them. Everto chuckled as he finished his spell, shouting out, "You like magic huh you big dumb brute! Burn in the flames of hell!" He felt his magic take hold, setting his foe on fire, he knew his fire wasn't hellfire, but it was instead colored green after his magical essence. The glass drake knew what to do, it redirected it's stream of flames into the undead, Everto's green flames and the glass drake's white flames would take care of the brute soon enough. Everto laughed like a madman as he looked at the giant undead, slowly burning to re-death, "Magnificent! I was right to come here to test my power! This is a great confidence booster, even though these pathetic beings are weak to our flames so this isn't a good experiment. Oh well, it at least worked off my stress." He soon felt something breeze past his head, an old weathered long sword had missed him by a hairsbreadth. He chuckled as he started to fight again, using his gauntlets as his drake protected his back with his white flames.

Diana watched as her the fighting started to die down to the power of flame, not only of the small fighter but also from a dragon he seemed to call into the fighting. The giant, intelligent undead began to fall in his flaming agony, or at least what could assume to be agony without any words or even a death gurgle of some sort. It did not even get the chance to unleash it's power, but yet more words could be heard even as the other undead began to fall from the dragon's flames.

Diana had a bad feeling and looked around to find that there were still more undead coming, and she could hear more arcane whispers though her eyes could not find the undead responsible for the castings. She also could not tell their number, but she knew this ancient city must have much undead to give as they seemed to keep massing up and moving forwards, prepared to be the doom of mankind should they get the chance.

Overhead, storm clouds seemed to be coming and the winds were picking up, thunder clapping loudly and snow beginning to fall. Diana could tell it was too quick to be a natural storm. "Hey! You might want to make your dragon land, their trying to make the wind too strong to fly in!" She at least assumed that was what they were doing. It seemed true enough with the winds beginning to rage, and quite a few gusts of wind seemed to be aimed at the dragons.

Everto chuckled as his drake rained fire down from the sky, though the air felt different, it started to reek of rotting flesh and the biting cold was getting colder. The air was stirring and he could feel the winds start to pick up, the woman called out and said something about landing his drake, the increasing winds were apparently part of the undead's plan, meaning something was controlling them, now that would be a worthwhile experiment, how it would deal with his fire, drake, and clawed gauntlets.

He whistled and barked out, "Pyros! Come!" The glass drake gave off a tiny roar, from the way it roared he knew a lot of women back in towns when he first caught Pyros told him his roar was cute since it lacked the power of a fully grown drake and he lacked their innate ferocity. He felt the drake land... on his head, curling up in his white hair, Pyros perked up his head and breathed a stream of flames into the undead in front of Everto, setting them on fire and burning them to death again. Everto made his way closer to the woman, preferring to instead dodge around them.

When he made it to the woman he spoke quickly, "We need to find the head undead, destroy it or them and force the undead into a mindless state again, then they should attack whatever or whoever is closer, letting them destroy each other trying to feed on each others frozen flesh. The bulk are coming from the north, we should start heading that way so we can take them out, do you agree?" He waited for the woman to answer before he would start off towards the north and the enemies he craved to burn.

"That's fine," called out to the short warrior, who then immediately proceeded to move straight north on a hunt for the masters of this undead horde. Diana followed him, and his flames made a clear path, though she and her worg still had to do some of the cleanup on those undead that kept trying to surround them. Fira kept up the fire balls, though she could not compete with the intense fire magics of the warrior, or the flame weapon of his small drake.

Diana looked up at the clouds and could see flashes of life. On a whim she whispered an incantation and raised a shield spell up above her just as the lightning cracked down. It took a lot of energy to keep the shield up, but at least it was only one bolt. There was no more of this screwing around, she needed to make sure they didn't get overwhelmed with magic while concentrating on the hordes of undead.

Looking down on the the undead, her eyes seemed to glow with power before beams of unholy energy shot from them and began to more quickly leave her path as she ran forward. The undead had some resistance to unholy energy, but she just kept firing until they dropped. It was a tiring use of her magical energy, but she felt she had more then enough physical strength to make up for it when she finally met one of the leaders of this horde.

Castor heard her agree and he shot northward, using his clawed gauntlets to fight and his drake to breath the white flames on his foes. After a while of cutting down foe after foe his drake stopped breathing fire, it's claws digging a bit into his scalp as it curled up and started to sleep, he forgot it was still a baby, the constant flames had tuckered the little guy out, it didn't help Pyros got lethargic in cold areas. He started using his own vast mana reserves, sending out fireball against enemies that started to cast spells, but other then that he just kept on running forward, carving away at the legs of undead, he let the worg and the woman finish them off, he just weakened them.

He could feel his limbs becoming tired, he wasn't made for the constant fighting, he was a mage not a warrior, one target he could fight but the constant running and clawing was just wearing him down, soon his movements began to slow as he breathed harder, he was at his physical limit. He looked to the woman who seemed to be doing infinitely better physically, he called out to her, "Keep on heading north! I'll start using my magic to cover you!" He tapped his mana and smirked, he was still almost completely charged, he took out his wand from his pocket and held it up the tip glowing to write the script in the air, he saw a rather large and bulky undead heading their way, he could sense the arcane magic coming from it and he knew the spell, it was speaking in the demon language his father used, something was controlling them and giving them magical power beyond the normal undead, and from the language he had a hunch it was a demon. He let the spell flare to life, a fireball shooting from his wand into the undead, forcing it to recoil, destroying it's flesh and melting the ice on it, now it was time to start doing much more calculated magical strikes. He already had another spell on his mind as he started to scrawl it in the air, walking behind the woman.

As she was getting magically tired, she stopped using her unholy beams and listened to the short warrior say he would begin to guard them with magic. She nodded and continued to move forward, her blade hacking and slashing as she went. She thought it odd that these undead held so much power every year. There must be something different this time, but what could it be? Perhaps stronger spirits had been raised by the energies of the season this year.

She felt the chill of the wind grow strong, and she started to see taller undead. Their glowing blue eyes was a good giveaway, as well as their chanting. But there was chanting beyond them that she could hear of a distinct nature she was not as familiar with. Were even the intelligent undead having their strings pulled by another force? That would be in interesting turn of events if she had to fight off not only this lot but an even greater force beyond.

Of course, she imagined it was still the larger undead controlling the smaller, while the mysterious third force controlled the intelligent icy abominations. "I think there's something else controlling the big ones!" she called out. "You get that, my group will go after these blue eyed monsters, alright?" She did not wait for an answer as Fira cleared a path for her and she put her eyes on the closest of the intelligent undead, moving forward and attempted to swipe her blade at the creature. However, it's chanting sharpened and he raised his arms, casting a shield spell.

Castor heard her advice, she would distract the big guys and he could go and see if his suspicions were true, he called out to her before running off, "Alright! I'll go fight the demons, catch up when you can!" He doubted that the woman would, she would probably cut her way through the weaklings and then ride off on her worg, either way her temporary distraction would allow him to rush north still, it wasn't a long run, dodging undead where he can, getting away from the lumbering undead was easy enough at his size, they didn't tend to look down sometimes, they focused on the worg and the woman more then the child rushing around their legs.

He found an area with no undead whatsoever, instead he found gravestones in an odd arrangement, he scratched his jaw as he looked around for any kind of clue, he literally stumbled upon one as he tripped over a severed arm. He growled in anger as Pyros screeched from the sudden fall, waking up the drake. Pyros once again went to Everto's head as Everto picked up the severed limb, he saw runes in the demon language inscribed into it, it was for a basic but powerful summoning ritual, the man was probably dead but the demon he summoned was probably using his magic to enslave new thralls, wherever he was he had gone from here, he turned to rush back to the woman, he had solved the issue of who was controlling the undead, now he just had to coordinate a search effort with someone and kill the demon. He rushed back towards the woman, hoping to find her and get her to help him look, after all, by himself he would have no chance of searching the area, far to many undead, though with her and her pets they stood a good chance, he smirked as he made his way to her, his tired limbs gaining new energy at the thought of getting the alchemical ingredient... demon's blood.

The shield spell blocked her attack, but Diana did not cease as she looked behind the undead and whispered arcane words of teleportation. She appeared behind the undead, and before he had time to turn she rammed her blade in the back of his neck and snarled in victory as she tore through what was left of that neck. The head fell, and for a moment the nearby lesser undead looked confused and disorientated as they were free to think for themselves and yet had not mind to do so.

Diana did not wait, jumping swiftly up onto the shoulders of some poor mindless skeleton and gazing around to see if she could find another cold pair of intelligent, glowing blue eyes. As soon as she did she began to run along the heads of the undead horde, avoiding being attacked simply by being quick as she neared the next intelligent with her blade. He fell before any spell could be ushered, another bodiless skull falling to the ground.

At the second death she heard a screech of rage, and the unintelligent undead began to lose all holds on their wills, attacking eachother mindlessly. She saw the small warrior coming back. "Found anything!?" she called, just as Ash began to enjoy crushing skulls beneath her mighty jaws.

Everto rushed towards the woman, he heard her scream as he weaved his way through the undead, trying to stay out of their way, sometimes having to stop and rip away at their legs so he could run away. He heard yell if he had found anything, he grimaced as he got closer, shouting out to her, "We've got a demon on the loose! I found a severed arm with runes in the demon's tongue, whatever is controlling them is probably a relatively young demon, probably summoned to be bound, but from the severed arm... I'm guessing he ate his summoner. Now that the undead are turning on each other it seems whatever you've done has severed it's link to them! If we wait here and let the undead destroy each other it should make it's appearance and try to restore order, that is when we can attack it and bring it down."

Everto looked from left to right, his eyes searching for any sign of the demon or other intelligent undead that could restore order, he found none for the moment and looked back to the woman, "We might as well introduce ourselves while we have a moment's reprieve, my name is Everto, who are you?" He had no time to act smug or arrogant as he usually did, he was to happy to be gaining an ingredient to the potion he wanted, he had the chalice to catch the blood hidden in his jacket pocket, to most people the small white haired, red eyed child would be someone to be wary or be afraid of, but he didn't care, he just needed the demon's blood then he could destroy the remaining berserk undead and walk out of here with his ingredient, some more confidence, and a very tired glass drake.

Diana nodded to that plan, thinking it a pretty smart idea to let the demon come out to do the work just as a means to draw it out. Hopefully no more intelligent undead would be created to be part of the network of control that would make things go faster. She also thought if funny how some stupid summoner had tried to summon and control a demon here and now, though she supposed there were no better place and time to do so. Of course, anyone could have told the man that controlling demons was rather hard without something else for it to get distracted by and attack first.

The small warrior announced his name was Everto, and asked for her own identity in return. "Diana," she replied simply, seeing no need to inform her new friend of her last name that may have given him a bad view of her. Of course, that bad view would have been a natural conclusion. For the sake of keeping her prize, the icy undead she personally controlled had gotten lost in the crowd and sent away.

Ash the Worg was still busy making sure any undead that noticed the group would loose it's head in her bone-crushing bite. Luckily, now that there was a lack of organization and cooperation in them all, she would not be overwhelmed by the undead any time soon, and the extra help of the fire elemental would make sure there was little to no danger until something claimed control of the horde again.

Everto nodded to Diana, he could feel something coming, it was odd not to be afraid, all he could feel as excitement, he was older then most and had studied both demons and angels, he knew how they worked from rituals and he knew the different types, he just needed to learn what kind of demon it was and then he could make a plan to kill it. Though when red flames erupted from the ground as twelve foot tall demon, it had a scaly hide, it's eyes were like two black orbs of obsidian, the being was bulging with muscle and held both a staff and a longsword. The staff had a large purple crystal on it's tip, the staff was obviously meant for a human and was no more then a walking stick in his grasp, obviously taken from the human he killed, though the sword as made of a black metal.

Everto grimaced as he spoke, "It's a warrior type of demon, probably one of the weaker Arch-demons from the first layer, he's big and strong, but to dumb to use magic of his own... meaning that staff is the cause of his control, break the staff break his control. Also... uh... don't let that sword connect... ever... it's made of adamantine and his strength would cleave you in two. So he's my plan... you distract him while I try to break the staff! I'll focus on hitting him with spells also." He began working on his first spell when the demon roared in anger and started towards them.

Diana watched as a great big demon, the very image one thinks of when trying to imagine a demon without ever having actually seen one before. She noticed the staff in his hand. Everto explained exactly what was likely going on and what she should do. With a smirk Diana stared at the demon and let herself quickly come up with a plan. "Distraction I can do," she said. "Or at least, my pets can. Don't look at the wisp. Hope!"

The wisp who had been floating aimlessly nearby finally heard it's name called and burst into liveliness, putting itself between the demon flying towards the Mistress and the Mistress herself. For a moment the wisp glowed brighter then the usual ball of light until suddenly in her place was a beautiful, scantily clad dancing woman. Someone might have noticed that there was no sound from her movements, but any who watched her would find themselves unable to stare away, as though simply stunned by the image.

She looked at Everto, as though asking if that was a good enough distraction.
