Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Lumi walked into the woods, indicating their current path. They walked for a half hour, before Lumi suddenly dropped into the nearest bush, dragging Balan with her.

"Mercenaries ahead. These aren't burn zones, they are battlefields," Lumi whispered urgently. She stayed low, peering out at the small group of men. They held crossbows casually, staring up the field, higher up the squat mountain. Lumi contemplated closing the distance and attacking, but she couldn't be sure if there weren't many, many more. She grimaced. A voice called out from above her.

"Two ladies hiding in my bush. You can pay rent with your swords." Came a whisper from behind her. Lumi instantly turned, eye to eye with a young-looking woman. Dusty red hair fell to her shoulders, resting on the thick armor she wore. Brilliant blue eyes lay behind silver glasses that flickered with the intensity of magics. Her weapon, a glowing longsword was pointed straight at Lumi's sternum. Lumi's eyes flicked back and forth, measuring up the situation. She had three more soldiers with her, all armored similarly. The armor had sweeping curves and every reinforcing trick in the book, but had an iconic rough-steel look.

"We'll fight for you, then." Lumi said immediately. The woman smiled warmly.

"This will be a quick skirmish, ladies, just us versus the ten of them," The woman explained. Lumi stood, drawing her rapier quickly. The red haired woman put on a traditional-looking armet and strode out of the bushes, to cries of alarm. A crossbow quarrel deflected from her shoulder armor, arcing into the air and landing beside Lumi's foot.

Before Balan knew it, she was being yanked into dense vegetation. The girl landed on her side and scrambled to a crouched position, peering through the bush's branches. Lumi was right about the burn zones. But why was there so much fighting on such a small island with no visible civilization? Allison opened her mouth to speak these concerns out loud before a different voice interrupted her. She wheeled around and unsheathed her sword, pointing it at the woman who had an enchanted blade pointed at her master.

"Are you sure this is the most prudent path, Lumi?" Balan asked in a shaky voice as they got to their feet. Her voice fell to a whisper. "We don't know what their motivations are. What if we fight for the wrong side?" There wasn't any time for more dissent than that, though, as they were already in battle. Allison flinched as the armored soldiers took crossbow quarrels, spraying them every which way. She gripped her sword in both hands and the entire squad broke into a charge.

When they connected, Balan stuck close to Lumi, keeping an eye on their supposed allies as well as their enemies just in case of a sudden betrayal. While her training master had no trouble at all fighting, Allison would occasionally engage someone that would have given the woman some minor inconvenience. She parried a mercenary's strike and managed a harsh blow that cut deep into his side, then ran him through while he was staggered. This fight wouldn't take much time at all.

Lumi kept her distance, trying her hardest to not get injured. Her offense was lacking but her defense became perfect. If they would need to fight their 'allies', Lumi would be prepared. She used her allies as defensive barriers, keeping stray swords away. The fight was quick, ending with their foes attempting a retreat. Lumi put it to a stop with her characteristic speed. Lumi returned to their blood stained allies.

"Good, you won't have to pay rent for hiding a ship on my island either if you help some more. I'm Liza Reinquist, airship designer," The woman said, taking her helmet off. Red hair tumbled down her shoulders, bright blue eyes hiding behind glasses. She gave a slight smile. Lumi blinked a few times. Liza Reinquist had designed the primary ships of the Cascadian Fleet. One of the most brilliant minds on Imythess stood before her, in Koshkin's armor. It seemed like an intellectual dream team was involved in this combat, but why? Kiva darted up behind her, swishing her tail. The armored people didn't bat an eyelid.

"I'm Lumi Kirsikka, and this is my apprentice," Lumi said, indicating Balan. The woman nodded and began walking up the mountain.

"Come, we'll have dinner in my workshop, arms dealer."

Above them rumbled a dozen odd machines. Drives bringing power to a great factory that they overlooked, putting together a massive airship. A true giant.

"Those men are mercenaries here to capture the Warden, my masterpiece. I need every hand I've got to keep fighting, there's nearly a hundred and twenty men attacking our thirty. Thirty including my twenty noncombatants." Liza explained. She continued to eat her Istani kabobs, something Lumi could only pick at. They were spicy, and Lumi rarely had spicy food.

"We'll assist." Lumi stated.
"You better. Half those weapons have Kirsikka Enterprises seals on them." Liza stated.

The pretty redhead under the elaborate armor turned out to be quite a prominent person indeed -- evidently one of Lumi's customers -- so they made their way to her workshop to have dinner. Liza Reinquist explained that the mercenaries on this island were trying to overrun the workshop and get at the huge airship, the Warden, that was under construction here. Balan listened quietly while she ate her meal. It was a bit spicy, more than Lumi apparently could handle, but Allison ate it all out of both hunger and to show gratitude for the meal. Her master agreed that the two of them would assist Liza in defending the airship, which was good albeit a little problematic. Weren't they supposed to be getting back to Striberg? And taking down a hundred and thirty men was no small feat for such a small group, either. But Lumi's judgment was probably better than hers, so Balan didn't say anything.
