| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

A small figure was trudging through the ankle-deep snow, traversing a path on the cliff face so thin it almost seemed invisible underneath the layer of white. Still, the girl never seemed to falter, every step sure on the winding trail. She was garbed appropriately for the weather, a fact in itself that was quite unusual. Rin paused for a moment, looking out over the snoqy valley. Her clothing was much more practical and a gift from an Istani monk named Zaki: doeskin leggings underneath a snow-white sundress, fur-lined boots and gloves, a heavy double-breasted coat with silver buttons, and a thick hooded cloak that trailed in the snow behind her. She was very comfortable in their frozen surroundings, although the wind still bit at her exposed face and turned her cheeks a ruddy crimson. She smiled at the view and continued her ascent, pushing through the thick snow. Rin seemed to possess the grace of an acrobat, never once losing her balance or slipping on the treacherous footing. She was far stronger and faster than she appeared as well; the girl was a creation of the Grand Grimoire, constructed to be efficient and deadly in her task. When it came to the lost pages of the sentient tome, the girl was utterly without mercy, her entire being devoted to their collection. That was the reason for their journey to this forsaken wilderness today; she could sense that one of the pages of the Grimoire was hidden within this peak, lost for years in the snow and ice. She had not seen another living creature since leaving Zaki in her home in the mountain city of Axerise. It could be lonely, wandering the wilderness in search of the lost fragments, her only companion for conversation an omniscient tome with a sarcastic attitude, but Rin did not mind. She often met interesting people on her travels, and from time to time they chose to accompany her for a time. A few more minutes of climbing led the artificial construct to a much wider ledge, an outcropping of stone partially protecting the fissure from the freezing winds. Ahead of her was an opening into the mountain itself, although at first it looked to be nothing more than a small indenture. Rin danced ahead, her boots scraping a furrow through the clean snow. No one else had visited this spot for several days, if the undisturbed whiteness was any indication. She peered into the darkness and was not surprised to see that a tunnel led further into the mountain, the stone walls caked with thick ice. The girl smiled triumphantly and spoke out loud to the empty air. "Look! A cave! I can tell that the page is inside!" As a creation of the Grimoire, Rin was capable of sensing where its power was concentrated. This internal compass had led her from the Debon Plains to the city of Balefire to the Istan Desert, locations scattered around the entire continent of Imythess. A voice responded to her exclamation, although a witness would be unable to hear it. The words of the Grand Grimoire were spoken directly into the girl's mind, a constant companion she had been with since her creation. Very good, Rinrae. I believe you are correct. The girl stepped a foot into the cave, looking at the floor in front of them. Odd, angular runes had been carved directly into the stone floor of the tunnel, the letters belonging to some alphabet she had never seen before. However, Rin possessed an innate ability to decipher any language that the Grimoire had previously encountered, although she had to learn how to speak and understand it normally. Her blue eyes scanned the words quickly, mumbling to herself as she read the warning. "Beware of.. Ing... eloak... er..." She frowned, stumbling over the unfamiliar pronounciation of the carved word. "Ingeloakastimizilian?" Rin wondered what the meaning of the odd word was, but the Grimoire was not forthcoming with any additional information. She did not enter the cave just yet, staring into the sullen darkness of the opening and wondering what she would find within. Edited by Rin, Wed Sep 28, 2011 5:25 pm.
