| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Shan lowered himself from the griffon with trembling legs. The ride up to the cloud city was beautiful, breathtaking even. He certainly found himself having trouble drawing breath when he saw the speed at which they were climbing. Shan would be proud to later report that he was able to take five steps before his knees buckled and he collapsed to all fours. He waved away the griffon owner's proffered arm and stood once more. The sun had set on the way up, and the Flying City of Cascadia was lit with lanterns, magic lights, and the dying glow of the sun. At last, he'd reached the most beautiful, cultured city of Imythess! Now what? He wandered the city's streets looking at the stalls filled with food and beautiful trinkets magic and mundane; his stomach caused him to pay far more attention to the food. Note to self, his second thoughts said, Don't spend all your money to get up to the pretty city in the clouds, especially since now you need to get more money to not only get food and lodging, but back down to the ground! Moron. Shan sighed. Really, coming up here with so little to his name was a bad plan. There was nothing for it, then. He'd have to make some more coin. He settled on a fairly busy street corner that no other minstrels have occupied, lifted the fiddle from its battered case, and placed the case before him as an offering plate. He quickly tuned the strings, and began playing, hoping at least someone would be generous enough that he could eat tonight. OOC: Here's Shan's "I'm hoping to get supper" song for today. |

Good evening, world. Allaer had just awoken but he had things to do. He was up and about much earlier than normal and was dodging the fading remains of sunlight as he moved on his way towards the building where he was suppose to meet up with the Captain. On the way there, he had to stop for a quick meal of course. Leaving the unfortunate victim on the ground for them to wake up later, Allaer moved on. After his business there was settled, he was merely walking through the streets reading through the report he picked up. No, no, no. There was nothing in here that indicated much. He was given a copy of the full report to spare them wasting their time explaining to the Elf. He didn't mind, but he did mind this. There was nothing here that lead him anywhere. Anywhere at all. Just as he was about to start reading the detailed pages in the back of the packet of paper when he stopped for a street musician. Ha, haven't seen one of those in a while. Musicians were usually so higher placed that they did scheduled showings instead of just street performing. It brought a smile to his face and Allaer stayed with the small gathering crowd for the rest of the song. After it was finished, Allaer stepped in front of everyone else. He dropped one coin into the fiddle case and stepped past it. "I wish to inquire what song thats was. As well as how long you've been in city." It was all curiosity, really. Maybe if this person was always on the streets he saw something. Saw something that they missed. |

Shan finished the piece to a rather generous crowd. They clapped, but dispersed a bit too quickly for his tastes. Only a few dropped a copper coin appease in his case. One gentleman with pale skin and long black hair stepped forward and placed a coin in his case. "I wish to inquire what song that was, as well as how long you've been in the city." Huh,his second thoughts said. He seems rather straightforward for an elf. Aren't they usually given to flowery speeches? He probably spent a lot of time among humans, Shan thought to himself. We're an abrupt group. "Oh, this piece is called the Devil's Trill, or an approximation, I suppose. I was playing it from memory, so it's probably not exactly right, and I'm afraid I haven't been in the city long. I only arrived less than an hour ago." To Shan's embarrassment, he felt his stomach grumble loudly again. Did he have enough to buy something to eat? He was willing to see, even if it was Tubed Mystery Meat in a Bun. "Anyway, thank you for your donation, good sir. May you be blessed in your travels." |

Allaer stifled a frown. Looks like this man wasn't going to be useful for him, yet he showed a smile anyways. Why he was on the street was obvious now. He must lack money in general. "If it's differents, it matters nots. Your version still sounds lovely enough on it's own." Allaer complimented and gave a small bow. He was about to be on his own way when he heard a noise. That was a noise of hunger. Allaer had nothing better to do during his evening, since the report he had in his hands was useless. "Sounds like you're a starving artists." He joked and offered his hand out for a handshake. "I'm nots busy so I can show you around and treats you to a meal." The Elf offered with a small shrug. What better things did he have to do? |

Shan shook the stranger's hand. "Um, yes, I suppose you have me pegged there..." You idiot, please don't go around with a complete stranger, his cynicism said. He seems nice enough, Shan thought, and he knows more about this city than I do... Did he say food? his sleepy id asked. Every single time you trust someone or get distracted by a shiny object, you end up running for your life, trying to avoid being killed or eaten or maimed- He said something about food. His id interrupted. Could you look at his eyes, please? They're red. Please, please, please be intelligent, listen just once and- HE IS OFFERING FOOD BY THE GODS SAY YES. "If it wouldn't inconvenience you unduly, I would like to take you on your offer. My name is Shan Orison. It's a pleasure to meet you." Godsdammit, Shan's cynicism grumbled. |

Vyse rode on Umbriel, he felt he needed to spend some time with his partner, she was getting ornery and wild since he was away so often, he had even come out while wearing four swords, Lita, Sopheur, Blitz, and Fenrir. He looked through the crowd and saw an all to familiar man... someone he met months ago in Cascadia, Allaer. Vyse had Umbriel walk up behind Allaer, having Umbriel stare down at them, the massive dire tigress purring slightly as Vyse spoke, "Hello Allaer... I hope you're not planning on doing anything bad with this man now... are you?" He had met Allaer months ago, he hadn't changed one bit, but Vyse had, he had his two extra arms hidden in a padded pocket in his white vest, making him look a bit chubby. He looked down at the other man, he was an odd sight, but he didn't seem like a bad lad, "I heard you talking a bit before I decided to reveal myself... I hope you won't mind me tagging along for this dinner Allaer, it's been such a long time since we last met. As for you my new friend, I am Vyserial Noclan, just call me Vyse, I am the owner of Noclan Merchants Company, we make cheap and top quality healing supplies so that any man can have his wound treated quickly and efficiently, now who are you?" Umbriel lazily looked over them and purred as Vyse scratched her head, she was such a good kitty, she hadn't bitten Allaer's head off even though he smelled of blood to her, she yawned, showing her impressive array of razor sharp teeth, her two fangs sticking out from under her jaws a bit, so even if she closed her mouth two fangs were always in sight. Vyse simply smiled, she wouldn't do anything yet, not until he commanded her to. |

"Its wouldn'ts a... ah." Allaer started before being interrupted by an odd sensation down the back of his neck. Heavy breathing, it was no question now that something very large was behind him. The Elf tensed up and turned his head at the voice of a familiar voice. It was that man he had raided a warehouse with back a few months ago. What was his name.. Vyse? The Vampire's body relaxed as he stepped aside to make more a triangle between the three men instead of a line. "You don'ts have to hope, I have no plans on doing anything bad. Simply aid a... starving artists." He said and made a gesture at Shan. Allaer almost zoned out at Vyse's long tidbit of information he gave out. He was a merchant? Ha, that was different than what the Elf had expected of him. After he finished, Allaer gave a look towards both of them before turning to Vyse. "I have no qualms with you joining us. I'll justs have you know thats I won'ts be paying for you, Mr. Merchants." He said with a sly smile, though if Shan minded that would be another story. |

Shan looked from Allaer to the newcomer on the giant tiger and back through their conversation. It seemed they've met before, and the newcomer, Vyse, felt Allaer didn't have the...purest of intentions, which always meant a lot of running and screaming on Shan's part. Listening , they were either good enemies or strained friends. He felt a bit as though he were intruding on some ancient history. The polite and sane thing would be to excuse yourself and get far away from this situation, especially since one is accusing the other of...something. Mind you, the accuser is heavily armored and riding a dire tiger, so safety is best found elsewhere regardless. his second thoughts said. And miss out on the food? No way! Unfortunately, his id was rather strong at this point, not to mention loud and petulant. "I have no problems if an old acquaintance of yours wishes to join us. It's a pleasure to meet you, um, Vyce. I am Shan Orison, a humble bard." His idiotic stomach began to growl again. "Very humble, as you can see. So, Allaer, where were you thinking of going?" Vyse smirked, "Let me show you to a nice place to eat, best drink in town, follow me." He motioned for them to follow, he road Umbriel through the streets, the people moving out of the way of the dire tigress, she turned her head to sniff Shan as she walked, her tongue sticking out and licking the side of his face with her rough tongue. She purred as Vyse scratched behind her ear, she was rather tame for a dire tigress, and much, much, larger then the average ones. He lead them into a nearby alley, dismounting Umbriel he walks in, Umbriel right behind him. He led them through it for a good five minutes before they got a door, loud music and laughter emanating from behind it, he opened the door and walked in, Umbriel walking a bit further down the alley before laying down, she curled up to take a nap. Vyse looked around the old tavern, it's chairs and tables weathered and dull, but the people inside wore workers clothes, plain tunics, and one or two of them wore fine jackets. They looked up to Vyse and cheered, raising their mugs to him, he waved to them as he snagged one of the few tables not occupied by these men. He smiled at Shan and Allaer, "Don't worry about these rowdy men, they're my employees down at the docks or in my office to help me with paperwork, that's good to, my arms are getting stiff..." He shrugs off his coat, showing two long slits on the sides of his white vest, two more arms slowly extending out of it, he stretched and flexed them to get the blood flowing again. Vyse saw the owner of the bar approach, he wasn't a particularly large man, his hair gray from age, he nodded to Vyse and to the other guests, "I already know what you want Vyse, Venison and enough Black Water Ale to knock out two men twice your size, but you'll have to get a fresh barrel from the back if you would?" Vyse nodded and walked to the back, searching for a barrel. The man nodded to Shan and Allaer, "My names Brenk, what can I get ya? We've got just about everythin', I specialize in the exotic." He nodded to the two as Vyse slowly walks out of the back, holding a barrel roughly his size under a single arm, he quickly places it behind the bar and walks back to the table sitting down, back with his guests. |

Allaer raised a finger in the air matter-of-factly at the question of where they were going to eat. "I have absolutely no idea!" He said with too much pride in that fact to weigh. He crossed his arms and had his fingers bend the papers in his hand so they became stiff and concave against him. Vyse chimed in that he knew a place, along with the best drink in town. "I mights have to disagree with the drink parts, no matter whats they serve." The Vampire mocked before letting the tiger riding person lead the way. The Elf had to really hold his tongue and not question the whole super big giant tiger thing. Instead of he walked behind the two and mulled over what he was going to do. Had his spawn already gotten herself killed or did she properly dispose of bodies? Maybe he should go hunt her down himself and find out... but he'd be recognisable. Huh... what to do... What're the chances that she left the city entirely? When they got there, Allaer looked at the alley and stood still for a moment. Almost as if feeling this was a threshold, there wasn't something right... No. He was just being over stressed from everything that had been happening recently. He strode into the alleyway after a door had been open. He followed Vyse into the establishment and took a seat at the table that had been snagged. This was almost Allaer's kind of place, almost. At least it seemed a lot more lively than other some places in Cascadia. The moment the man came over and Vyse left, Allaer waved his hand dismissively. "Nothing for me." He said, doubting he'd find anything appealing on the menu. Of course he wasn't really hungry either. When Vyse came back, something odd happened though. He had an extra set of arms. The Elf gave him a dumbfounded look and stood up from the table. Leaving the papers there. "I'll be rights back." He said and walked out of the building. Outside, he found the nearest water source and started to rinse his hair out. Cheap black dye coming out, revealing radiant copper hued hair underneath. He wore it because copper hair didn't tend to blend well with the shadows yet now he had things to do. Probably after he left Vyse and Shan for the night. The vampire walked back into the tavern and took a seat like nothing happened, hair still a bit wet. |

Things were getting a more and more bizarre. He felt himself tense when he found out the place Vyse had brought him to was full of men in his employ, but then he removed his cloak. Shan could explain the tiger, but the extra arms definitely had him widening his eyes. They took a seat, but when the bartender asked for their order, Allaer excused himself and went outside. The bard was going to ask if everything was alright when the the bartender asked what he wanted. "Um...A beer?" "What kind would you like?" the bartender asked with a grin. "What?" "We've got pale ales, stouts, bitters, lager, wheat. I even have some mushroom beer from the Darklands. You usually don't find it outside of Menzoberranzan." Shan felt a bit lost. He realized he'd gotten used to taverns where you prayed the patron's beer dregs weren't being poured back in the keg. An actual selection dazzled him. "Um...whatever you think's best?" The bartender gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder. "I'll get you some Cloudy Sky Lager. Brewed right in the city." Allaer came back inside, except he now had beautiful, if wet, copper hair. At least that could be explained with black dye. He was still working on Vyse's extra limbs while trying not to stare. The air felt tense as the three men waited for their drinks. Shan tapped a bit on the table. "So...um, how do you two know each other?" Shan asked, then immediately regretted it. Yeah...considering the tension between them, it would have been best to keep your trap shut, his second thoughts said. Now you've done it, his paranoia added. Now they're going to tie you up from the ceiling, shove a funnel down your throat, and force feed you corn meal mush until your liver is bloated and yellow! There was a stretch of silence in Shan's mind, until... Ducks. What? They do that to ducks, his logic said with strained calm, to make foie gras. How do you know there isn't a human equivalent?! his paranoia countered. Okay, his second thoughts said. Where's that beer? Edited by Shan Orison, Wed Aug 17, 2011 12:33 am.

Vyse chuckled as the Black Water Ale and Shan's drink arrived, "Me and Allaer met a few months ago, he helped me find, kill, and destroy a smuggler's illegal items, it's not like we're on bad terms, it's just been a long time since we last saw each other." He picked up his own flagon, which can only be called a mini-barrel with a handle attached to it. He drank deeply from it, smacking his lips and sighing, Brenk's ale was the best in town. He looked to Shan and nodded, "Feel free to order whatever you like, Allaer is paying for you right? Oh, you should here how we met properly though, at least the first part." He sat back in his chair, now that he thought about it, how they met was rather funny. He started off, "Now, Allaer here was leaping from the roof tops all whimsical like, until he leaped down and landed with his arms out, like he was performing for someone... right into the center of the gang of smugglers I was following, I had to grab his arm and drag him out of there before he got himself beaten to a pulp.. heh heh... what were you even thinking back then Allaer, didn't you bother looking down at your landing area? Or did you think people would automatically move out of the way to give you some more room?" He chuckled some more as he drank, he had gotten used to drinking a lot, it helped him think, though he would only have one flagon of the stuff, then again his cup held quite a bit of ale in it, but his drinking habits wouldn't effect him for a long time. |

Allaer tapped his finger on the table in a rhythm he was trying to recall, half paying attention to the situation at hand. At Vyse's questions he looked up at the four armed man. "I could've taken 'em!" He said and threw a mock punch into the air above the table. He lowered his fists and flipped through his small stack of papers quickly. These were useless, maybe they were holding out on him or something. "They would've been blinded by how awesome I am, anyways." He said after a few moments, and then pointed a finger at Vyse. "You, tell me whats happened to you thats you're a little more handy than I firsts remember." He said and then shifted his gaze to the bard. "As for you, Shan. Tell me, whats brings you to Cascadia, anyways? I know it's a marvelous city buts still, there has to be some kind of specific reason." Allaer scrunched his nose at the smell of alcohol. He never really liked the smell of it, even before he became a Vampire. |

Shan drummed his fingers on the table again. "Well...I actually did come to Cascadia because it is a magnificent city. I'm bard as much for the traveling as for the performing, and I love seeing new places and people. Although...I suppose I chose Cascadia because I had some...difficult times trying to get to Norfolk Village which caused me to retreat back to Balefire where there were even more...interesting times. After that, I suppose I came here because I wanted to go somewhere that was the exact opposite of that place. Not Balefire, I mean. I quite like Balefire, though I suppose this place is the opposite of that too, or is it more of the opposite for the Dark Elves' cities, since this is in the air and those are underground? "Anyway," Shan said, derailing his rambling. "I also heard that Cascadia was a great place for artists, so I was hoping to learn more songs and swap stories with other bards, though I rather miscalculated my money and wound up spending my last copper getting here. I've always been terrible with finances. "So, um," Shan derailed himself again. "Do they have stew here? I could really do with a nice, thick stew." |

Vyse chuckled, Allaer was scrawny, but he had seen him fight, there was a good chance that he could have taken them, he decided to play along with Allaer anyway, "Of course they would Allaer... as for my arms, well one day I got drunk and was doing paperwork for my merchant company, I thought to myself, 'I wish I had extra arms so I could do my paperwork faster.' So I got some info from my friend Ratterung, best informant you'll ever meet, he showed me to a place that gives you magic tattoos... so I got two of them, one gave me these two arms, and the other... well, let me show you." He looked behind him and saw two rather burly men, he whistled to them, "Hey, I wanna show them what my other tattoo does, you two mind helping me out? Good, take a barrel and stand next to each other." He watched them nod and chuckle, picking up the barrels and standing next to each other, Vyse stood up and walked behind them, putting an arm around one of their legs and lifting them up, not even batting an eye. He chuckled as he put them back down, looking back to his guests. He looked to Brenk at the bar, "One stew, and a leg of lamb for me. Now, yes, I'm strong, but that was just a tiny little bit of my strength... I once beat a twelve foot tall stone golem to oblivion with another twelve foot tall stone golem, I ended up smashing them into bits on the first swing... rocks are pretty fragile right?" He knew people finding out about his strength sometimes struck them with fear, some people he knew appreciated his strength, while others feared it, he had to admit he did have a few accidents with it when he first had it... he was still paying the bill for Qadaj's broken bones being magically healed the and repairs for the three houses he hit him through. |
