Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It was finally time. They had arrived at Cascadia, the sight of the great dragon's head ship, the chilvalrous vessel Malendroke, had stirred excitement among the dock workers, the quaymasters, and the rich descended daintily from the elegant plank of a "cruise ship", likely a trussed up old galleon back from the old days of the Sky Riders. Seamus, looking at the ship, thought that he could remember the curve of the hull and the shape of the sail of that cruise ship, but when he came beside it as he came into the "quay", he realized that it was not one of the true Sky Riders, those cavalier fellows who sailed gaily among the thermals and kestrels, the old fun of plowing through giant clouds than seemed to span miles, seeing naught but the nose in front of your face, and then being spat out the other end, the entire ship like a giant whale lifting from the ocean, covered in wash and the seawater. No matter, that was a time long past, a time that could not survive in this new world. Divine perish the thought that the sailors could have fun.

He worked next to his brothers, throwing ropes at the workers on the dock, who tied them down with expert precision and speed. Soon the ship was tied up at the quay, and one of the sailors of the Malendroke threw out the ramp. A man, the quaymaster in this area, stood waiting. He wore white robes, the only color that most could stand in the heat. He adjusted the pair of uneven glasses that had begun to slide down the bridge of his nose, and called out to the captain of the ship for identification and the boarding fee. Seamus walked out, scowling in the bright sun, and held out a stack of papers tied with twine and a leather purse that clinked lightly from its burden. The man nodded, shook the sky pirate's hand, and left. Seamus had played this game long enough to know that if anything off was found, he would be tracked down and brought in to answer for it, peacefully or no. The quaymasters had power in this part of town, and indeed, much of the town. It probably gave some unscrupulous merchant nightmares to think that if his actions were uncovered he would be barred from docking in the main quays for enough time to ruin him.

It was at this quay that Vyse stepped off, and it was here that Seamus shook his hand, the packages he had arranged to pick up having been done so. The man in white had returned, in a form congruous with the notorious punctuality of the quaymasters, and returned the papers for the next docking. So it was that the Malendroke freed itself from the quay, and flew off into the clouds, great wings of wood and cloth and leather and rope creating huge gusts of wind, and the sails on the mast, for sea-faring, caught air. The Malendroke sailed off for adventure in the future, and perhaps another meeting of chance. Seamus was a roamer by nature, but he was never gone for long. And it was a good thing that this was so, for the pieces of a grand game were coming into place, and he would have his own role. In time.
