Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Vyse grumbled, he had been kidnapped for the last four days... he had no doubt that Qadaj had already put out word that he was missing and his captors were feeding him well enough, spoon fed of course since he was tied up in a cocoon of adamantine chains, suspended five feet off the ground. He looked at the three people guarding him, two of them with cutlasses, the other with a boarding axe. He didn't know what kind of ship he was on, he had been knocked out from a sneak attack and dragged here and then chained up before he had come to. Now he was a simple prisoner in some kidnapping plot, who knows what kind of man would kidnap him... probably a rival merchant, oh well, it was best to try and think of a way out.

He waited hours in the boat's hull, taking food when it was given to him and drinking plenty of water, he needed to stay strong. He tested his strength against the chains, adamantine was tougher then he though, he should get an adamantine blade one of these days, or adamantine armor. His blades were tossed to the side along with his maces, all nine of his weapons were gathered there. The pirates often took out his blades and inspected them, greed in their eyes, they wanted his weapons for themselves, they would probably get the to at this rate... the chances of him being saved were low indeed and only these three knuckle heads had the key to undo his chains, if he ever gets free... he'll personally tear this ship apart from the inside, but for now, he will wait and bide his time until it is most opportune to act.

Upon the Malendroke there was a tense atmosphere, although it was filled with yells and shouts. At the head of the ship stood its captain, the self-proclaimed sky pirate extraordinaire Moddey Dhoo. His ship, the Malendroke, was large, to be sure, but what separated it from the other ships was that it floated about the skies. Instead of a horde of rowers, there were two giant leathery wings on the side of his ship, floating on thermals. Its figure head was that of a giant dragon, rendered in almost life-like precision. It growled, as if it were alive, and flapped its mighty wings. It shut its glass eyes for a second, and groaned into the wind. The head was so life-like that Seamus forgot for a second that it was a mere clever artifice. He turned around to the tubes placed around his perch at the steering post when he heard a loud whistle that meant a request to initiate conversation. He had a complex system of tubes that ran through the ship into different sections of it to converse well between the men on the ship, nineteen in total, including the captain. He lifted the hatch on the tube and shouted into it, "What is it, over? There were a few second of pause before his question was replied to.

"We've found the Cerva Aurum, half a klick to north-north-west. Your orders, over? Seamus grinned. The Cerva Aurum was a mere seadweller rowboat compared to the Malendroke, and it belonged to a rival from about a decade ago, when they were both after a slaver's ship. Seamus wanted to take its gold and free the slaves, but the owner of Cerva Aurum, Franciscus Draco, wanted to commandeer the slaves and sell them at market. Seamus did not particularly care for competition between pirates, but when one of them was aiming to be a slaver, he had a special bit of fury for them.

"Give 'em blood and thunder, boys. I'm taking 'er down, so raise some hell, over and out." He let the hatch fall again and grasped the strange thing that was his steering wheel. It moved forwards and backwards to control the pitch, and rotated along its circumference to control yaw and roll. He spun it and moved it forward to send the dragon flying downwards at a high speed to the north-north-west from the north. They came soaring at the cloud layer and he steeled himself for the transition, although it was a not a literal wall, he was never entirely comfortable going through it. Then flew through the other side, the ship trailing bits of cloud, and he moved the wheel backwards to level out the Malendroke. It leveled out just above and behind the Cerva Aurum. Seamus looked around him, and shouted, "Paddy! Paddy! Come take the reins! A tall man with a shock of red hair appeared and silently walked up and took his place at the wheel. Seamus patted the blades at his side, one a big red cutlass, the other a big dagger with a serrated edge, and walked down to the side of the ship. He grinned as they began their descent and once they were close enough to the ship, he and a group of five other crewmen jumped off onto the Cerva Aurum.

Seamus drew both blades, catching a blow to the side with his dagger, and lopped off the head of the assailant with his cutlass. Blood sprayed across his face and stained his madman's grin, and he laughed loudly. Now they would find out why he was called "Moddey Dhoo". The other five spread out to catch all those that escaped the sight of Seamus, they knew better than to try and get close to him while he was in the grips of his bloodlust. He was famous for it, like the Moddey Dhoo, the Black Dog, seeing him was like a portent of death to come, for he had a way of seeking out evil and rending it apart. This would really be rather fun, and no outsiders were present to hold still his blades.

Vyse heard the commotion and chuckles, looks like he was being saved or thrown into a new prison, either way now was the time to act. He looked and saw only one of them stayed behind to guard him, good, it was time to try out his plan. He started to squirm and kicking his feet forward, the movements slowly becoming a swing, the man turned and yelled at him, demanding he stop or else he'd be forced to 'stick him.' Vyse grinned, the man had no chance of piercing the layers of adamantine chains and his swinging body made it that much harder to attack his head. He swung until he felt his feet hit the side of the boat, he smiled, one more swing and it was goodbye suspending chains. On his next swing he readied his legs and feet, as soon as they touched the wall completely... he pushed off with his draconic might empowered feet, ripping the chains out of the wood from the ceiling, his body propelling downward at an angle to tackle the only man left.

Vyse rolled to the side and flung himself to his feet, the chains were no longer fastened and it was only a matter of moments until the chains went slack around his arms, waist, and feet, allowing him to squirm out of it... typical mistake, strong chains, weak structures holding the chains. He picked up his sword belt and weapon holster for his maces, putting the holsters on his back and his five blades on his belt around his waist. He drew his four favorite blades, Niteo, Fenrir, Blitz, and Sopheur. Their enchantments sparking to life as he climbed the stairs upwards, his four arms flexing as he walked out, he saw several of the men stopped fighting to look at him. He saw and remembered the faces of the pirates that had imprisoned him and mocked him, his blades flicked out and started to carve his foes to pieces. Before long he heard people screaming that he was a demon, his four arms were apparently proof of it. He growled and kept on fighting, his blades making him a spinning wall of steel, anything daring to get close was immediately cut down, arms, legs, heads, all kinds of body parts flew away as his blades easily cleaved through man after man. He was a man of action, he would let his blades talk.

Seamus laughed and brought down his cutlass on the back of a man who was running away, cutting his spine. The man died and fell to the ground, and Seamus stepped over him, now covered in the blood of his victims. At this point he had taken care of a great number of pirates, and far fewer had escaped past him to be cut down by O'Halloran's five compatriots behind him. He saw Draco stand at the rear of the ship, a virtual monolith. He wore a black robe with high collars and old burns around his now blind eyes showed the magic coursing through him in bright white flashes. He whispered a word, his finger outstretched, and the area around his eyes glowed especially brightly, the clouds that consumed his eyes for a moment parting and revealing a shifting cacophany of color. A few pirates looked around and screamed as their bodies were consumed by a rush of ethereal flames that burned with an ungodly frost. The men were killed near instantly, their blood and flesh frozen by the demonic magic. Seamus, being far enough away to see the spell coming, dodged out of the way, and the spell did not have the range to threaten the five pirates behind him.

Franciscus Draco fled down the stairs with a practiced motion, quickly but not frantically. He stepped into the large corridor that led to the place where his prisoner was and noted, disappointed, that the man had escaped his bonds. It was too be expected, the men he had access too were nowhere as effective as would be required to keep this Vyserial Noclan in permanent bondage. No matter, he had bigger worries to consider. An old thorn in his side, a lowly privateer by the name of Seamus O'Halloran had prevented a business venture of his, although he had not ventured much, the defeat had irked him. Now this man, after ten years, was going after him. He was not a forgiving person, that pirate. He stood on the main deck, with the madman, Vyse, coming towards him and he paused for a breath. He spoke a word and walked forward into the whirlwind of steel, his eyes glowing with an inner light and the clouds in them once again spread, showing the pandemonium of pigmentation. As he drew closer, he leaned forward, his arms behind him, and his form exploded into a mist of gas that moved around the man and reformed quite a distance away on the other side. He continued to stride forward at a brisk pace, and sidestepped a group of his more brazen employees as the went forth to die.

Seamus swore loudly in Gaelic and rushed forward, almost absentmindedly killing the pirates he now moved on in his rush to get the man. He would be sure to kill this man, if it was the last thing that he did.

He would not be able to kill Franciscus Draco.

Vyse was half-crazed from the blood he'd spilled, he was only in the lower decks but there were still so many cut throats and pirates. He spun the blades in his hands, hacking off limbs and heads. He felt the sting of crossbow bolts sinking into his side, he roared in pain, the bloodwrath taking over. He slashed, thrust, and weaved his blades into a dance of blood, it seemed to rain it as a fine red pool appeared around Vyse, he looked around, seeing the man who had distracted him before he was clubbed, he was next.

Vyse leaped forward, his blades slashing, thrusting, and spinning in his hands to try and carve him to pieces, only to have him turn to mist and appear behind him, the man was a mage. He saw more pirates coming out... where did they all come from... probably hiding from him. He shrugged, his bloodwrath welling up once again, he let out a beastial roar, his blades cutting them down one by one, he would make it to the man... even if it meant cutting through every pirate on this ship.

It took only moments to deal with the pirates... though now he turned to see another pirate rushing towards him, the man had a thick beard... he had never seen him before, no matter, he was here, he was a pirate, he would need to be killed. Vyse spun his blades, maybe a quick taunt to make him angry, "Do you see the carnage I have created... I suggest you retreat and live another day while I kill the captain of this ship... this is the only warning I give you before slipping back into my bloodwrath." He could only wait a moment, he wanted to carve something up, to kill everything that moved and destroy what couldn't move.

Seamus, a broad grin on his face, and his face speckled with blood, stopped at the four-armed monstrosity. He laughed boisterously at the man's attempt at a taunt. This man apparently thought him one of Draco's men. What a silly thing. No man with a beard as miraculous as Seamus' would even consider working for that spineless wretch of a man. He said, "Like hell I'm lettin' you kill that snake Draco. I'll have him on the end of my blade a'fore the 'morrow. By all means, give into your lust. It'll just make it easier for me to end you before I continue onto the big boss." Seamus settled back, and from behind him came another group of pirates. They looked to the two men with fear, initially wanting to retreat, but one man roused them by saying that they would be able to take two measly fighters. They were five strong, after all, and they were no poor fighters themselves. They agreed with a shout, and at the behest of the man, one ran off at Seamus, his sword high. Seamus grinned wider and sidestepped the downward cleave, easily sinking the edge of his blade into the man's neck. The man dropped like a stone and there was more blood on Seamus' person.

"Well, well, isn't this a shame, our little discussion interrupted. We'll talk more later, you and I, but I think that there is work to be done now." He turned around, his blades out at his side, and strode down the hall to the four remaining pirates. He could see his men at the other side, and they knew enough to stand away, to let him deal with these people on his own. He wore a rakish grin, and shouted out to the pirates, "Come here, avourneen, come here! Let me send you off to the Far Beyond!" This was very fun, he thought, although he wasn't too sure about that other plonker with the four arms. He would probably chip his best china and muck up his rockery. Which was silly, because his rockery was back in Soho.

The man continued down the halls of his ship, catching the wall to keep himself from falling over in a particularly bad tip of the ship. He walked through an open door and strode to the simple desk that was there. He placed a hand on a crystal mounted in the lower right corner and his eyes began to glow, the clouds dissipating. Draco, are the preparations complete?

"No, Red Rover. There's been some disturbance." There was a loud noise in the background, and there was a chuckle from the other man, this Red Rover. I can see that, hear rather. Oh, Sarah wants to talk to you, I'll hand it over to her. There was a sound like a package being handed over to another person and suddenly a loud shrill voice filled his ears, causing him to give just the barest shadow of a wince. Draco! Draco, are you there? "Yes, Sarah. I am here." Oh, good. Anyway, I wanted to tell you about what happened today, there was this... Once again he found himself spending what would surely be an inordinate amount of time speaking with the little girl, Sarah, when his attention should be directed elsewhere. He was sure that his men would be able to slow the two down just enough for him to appease the girl's appetite for conversation with someone outside of Red Rover and his attendants somewhat.

Vyse roared in displeasure, leaping at his foes, his blades whirling and spinning, his blades snapping through arms and wrists, legs and thighs, necks and stomachs. His blades easily dealing with three of them, he would leave the last one for the pirate who wasn't part of Draco's crew. Vyse started for the entry, he barely had a bit of sanity left in his mind, "I'm going to sink this ship... I suggest you get moving on finding Draco, I am very angry at him, I wish to kill him. Instead I will destroy his ship, we can talk on your ship once we leave." He sheathed his blades as he walked out, taking out his maces, he looked at them with grim satisfaction.

He saw how the pirates were already looting the corpses, he walked past them all, looking up to the mast, he nodded, it would fall. He swung his maces at it, all from one side, he heard a crunching sound, his maces had left large dents in it, good. He kept up his assault, walking around it while bashing away at the mast, watching with a smirk on his face as it started to crack and splinter. Vyse sheathed his maces on his back, gripped the mast in his four arms, he would wait for the pirate to get out, then he would sink this ship, using a wooden spear made from the wood of their own mast.

He looked over to the men, a few of them giving him odd looks, he smirked, "I'm Vyse Noclan, do not be alarmed, I was kidnapped by Draco a while ago, I'm just going to return the favor once the pirate with the long beard gets out, I suggest you guys either follow him or get onto your ship, once he's out I'll be sinking this ship using the mast as my spear." He had no doubt the men would laugh at him, he was just a man, though some of them that saw him pound away at the sides might have seen a flicker of his true strength, oh well, soon he would pierce the ship and leave it to sink.

The pirate laughed as he was swiftly overtaken by the abomination of a man, with his four arms. The berserker, in his rush to attack, missed one, the leader of the five pirates. This man slid past and attacked Seamus directly. He raised his big blade overhead in a faint, and brought it down. Seamus brought up his dagger, in his left hand, to block, and kept his cutlass near his side. Like a flash, the man shifted the direction of his blade, moving to cut around the sky pirate's outstretched arm. Seamus raised the corner of one lip, and moved his large blade to parry, crossing his arms awkwardly. A shudder passed through his arm from the impact, and he quickly dropped the angle of the edge, and swung it forward in a wide arc to catch the assailant's throat. The man jumped back before the dagger could do more damage than cause of thin crimson line that drew a few droplets of blood, nothing more. This pirate gritted his teeth, angry, and dripped forward into his attacking posture, preforming a powerful upward diagonal slash, one that left his center of mass open. It was an invitation that the sky pirate would not refuse.

With all five of the attackers dead, the two men parted, Vyserial moving to the deck, and O'Halloran moving to follow the mage. He passed a number of sharp corners and door-filled hallways haphazardly, almost as if begging fate to force an ambush to challenge his arrogance and recklessness. He stepped in an open doorway, and saw the mage sitting in a chair, his eyes closed as if in meditation, and a hand on a light blue crystal in the corner of the desk there. Seamus shouted out for the man to defend himself, and readied his blades to fight. No matter what kind of person he was, he would not fight this man while he was unarmed, even if it was Franciscus Draco. The man sighed, and put up a hand, speaking a single word. "Noli." Seamus could see the man's eyes, and the usual cloudiness in them dissipated, showing a mad swirl of impossible colors. His limbs locked up, and he struggled to free himself. The other man turned back to his desk, apologizing to another person and promising to call back once his work was finished. He blinked once, and a loud sigh seemed to pass through the room. Seamus could feel his limbs loosen, and he brought up his blades to attack, realizing his mistake. A mage like this needed no weapons to be a threat. He would fix that.

"Caede." Seamus paused for a second, and his limbs seemed to burn and strain with an ungodly pain for a second, and then he could feel the skin split and blood stream down his arms. He fell back, clutching his arm despite the pain, and the other man stepped forward, his face devoid of emotion. "I have no time to give to you, Moddey Dhoo, and I doubt that you have such a thing either. Perhaps some later time, Moddey Dhoo. Goodbye." Seamus shouted after him, calling him a coward, but Seamus slid the crystal, now light green, from the table, and became a mist that slid through the walls of the ship, escaping Seamus' sight. Realizing that he had lost this battle, Seamus walked to the top-side, hoping not to have to encounter any others. In a way, the emptiness of the ship now was eery, and even affected the Black Dog himself. Clutching his wounds, his face pale, he walked to the surface of the ship. He muttered something to his brethren about a failure as they were loading up materials to the ship, and fell back against the wall, panting from the exertion and the loss of blood. Rivulets of sweat ran down his face, and he realized that he had lost much too much blood for that attack to be merely what it appeared. "Draco... You win this time. Let's go boys. Oh, and ghea- person, you're welcome to join us."

Vyse ripped the mast apart, holding the large part in his hands, his muscles bulging, "Take him back onto the ship." He watched them take him, Vyse let out a roar, swinging the mast down, crushing the ship beneath it with his might, destroying the ship's deck. He watched as it slowly began to sink, it wasn't good enough, he set about chanting, "Churning waters, bring forth my faithful water companion, Acqauos!" A large sea serpent surfacing from the waters below, magically appearing it reared it's head and hissed, letting Vyse stand on it, it lowered it's head to the middle of the boat. Vyse took out a mace and swung twice, creating two holes, he put his mace away and placed his hands in the holes, flexing his might he shifted the boat, flipping it over with one mighty heave, shouting his battlecry, "None can kill the Noclan!" He felt refreshed, but also very tired and sore.

He had the serpent rise up a bit, letting him walk onto the ship, he was tired and hungry, he sat down and breathed heavily, he needed to exercise more, he was getting soft. He looked at the men, "So, who do I owe a thank you to? Also, my names is Vyse Noclan, head of the Noclan Merchant's Company, it's good to meet you all, thank you for saving me." He bowed his head and breathed slowly, he had never been so exhausted in all his life. He looked around the pirates, they were an odd looking bunch, but they didn't seem to mind him or freak out at his four arms, maybe they would help him get home.

Seamus slung his arms around the necks of two of his stronger brethren, and was dragged up a plank onto the deck. Seamus wrestled away from the two men, and sat down hard on the deck against a barrel. Another of his brothers, a younger sibling dressed in a simple white shirt that clung to him from the heat below-decks and the work. He was a serious man, wearing a small pair of glasses, and wiping a hand across his forehead covered the back of his hand in sweat. He pushed the bridge of his glasses further up his nose and kneeled down next to Seamus, hovering his hands over the captain. His hands were sheathed with a dull glow, and he cocked his head to the side, confused. "You're pretty messed up, eh? Hold still, this'll only take a second." For a second there was silence, and the glow surrounding the man's hands intensified. Seamus could feel a sort of tingling from his wounds, and it became an uncomfortable heat as his skin began to knit together. The process took less than a minute, and the heat subsided, although there was a dull throbbing of pain that still remained.

The Seamus and the doctor stood, and they shook hands, an action that predictably lead to a jolt of pain travelling up the pirate captain's arm. The doctor said, "Now don't go back into the fight now, you've lost quite a bit of blood, and your wounds still aren't fully healed. Whatever did that isn't fully neutralized, so it'll probably wreak some havoc for a while." The doctor left to go below-decks, and Seamus looked to the newcomer with a mixed gaze of suspicion and curiosity. After a while of silence, Seamus said in a flat tone,

"Can you turn off your extra arms or are they always like that?" Seamus looked at the man with serious eyes, although the other pirates had trouble containing their laughter. They were used to their captain being alternatingly serious and joking, but this occasion topped most of the rest. They could never forget the occasion on the harlot-mage Circe's island. Seamus glared at them, which almost lead to a new bout of near-laughter. Turning back, he continued, saying, "Anyhow, I'm the captain of this ship. Her name's Malendroke. Don't mind the dragon, her name's Spasarthach. Shoots giant bloomin' fire beams. You know, the usual stuff."

Vyse smirked, "You're more interested about my extra arms and not the fact that I can rip masts off and club ships with them? That's a first, but no, I can't turn them off, I just stuff them back in my vest's belly pocket, making me look pudgy." He showed them, his best inflating a bit as he crossed his arms inside of it. He stood up, walking over to him and grasping his hand, shaking it vigorously, "Thank you for invading that ship... I don't know what they were going to do with me but thanks to you, Noclan Merchant's Company will stay in business." He smiled as he stretched his arms, it had been so long since he had fought like that... he needed to find someone to help Qadaj with the whole business deal.

He smiled at him, "I'm Vyserial Noclan, just call me Vyse, as I said I'm the leader and owner of a merchant company, I'll make sure you're duly rewarded, how does a night of drink and food on me sound?" He didn't want to spend to much money, his company was barely staying afloat, he didn't want to send it crashing into the red zone and lose his company, best to do something small like offer some food and drink, he could pay out of his own pocket for that stuff, plus he got a discount at Brenk's tavern. Yes, that was for the best, now if he would only accept it.

The pirate nodded, grinning, and stretched out his hand. "The name's Seamus O'Halloran. That's "S" as in "Sierra", "e" as in- Oh, I'm sure you don't care how to spell the damn name." Seamus took another swig from a flask that he kept in a pocket within his jacket. He was already rather inebriated, although it did not show on his face much more than a barely noticeable deepening of the flush on his face, indistinguishable from a man in a rousing conversation. "Keep your lucre, pal, we got enough loot from the raid for a good while. Tonight, until we get back to Cascadia, you're one of us! Once we get to Cascadia, we'll drop you off, and you can get to anywhere in the empire from there. You're a friend now. Just raise the call, and we'll descend from the skies to your aid. The only cost is your aid in the same, and your arm in the pile t'night."

Just then, a loud whistle passed through the ship, a small cone hanging from the edge of the bow "fence", a thick piece of wood to prevent items from sliding from the deck, shaking from the intensity of it. Seamus looked up with a shot, and said, "That's the crows-nest alarm!" With these words spoken, the pirate rushed to the fence and looked over it to see a strange sight. An arrow-like burst of gas ran parallel to the ship, just slightly below the waterline. It kept speed with the ship, no easy feat, for the vessel was going at quite a pace. The wisp held a menagerie of shifting colors, dispersed randomly throughout its mass, and they began to coalesce. Their form did not create a known form for a long while, and then it suddenly shifted to the face of a man. Specifically the face of Franciscus Draco. The being alighted upon the deck softly, and looked at the people with eyes empty of emotion, and indeed existence, almost as if they were a hole in reality. It spoke in a wavery voice, saying,

"So you are the ones who broke my vessel. I cannot say that I am truly enraged at you, but I do know that it will be costly to replace. Moddey Dhoo, you have made a nuisance of yourself. You should be careful lest I clip your thorns. And you, Vyserial Noclan, we have not forgotten our plans for you, but I suppose that we can leave you be, for the moment. Farewell, perhaps we shall meet again. Who can say?" With this finished, the form once again dissolved into dust, and was spirited away by the wind. Seamus looked in the direction that the majority flew away in, his face serious. Who was this "we"?

Vyse chuckled, the man was friendly and preferred to spend the money he had earned, he was impressed by the pirate's selflessness. Vyse heard a loud whistling noise, Seamus called it the crows-nest alarm, rather plain name but it was indeed alarming when an odd multicolored wisp began talking to them, Vyse smiled at the mentioning of breaking a ship, he had done that with his strength, some power, and a lot of repressed anger. Though he frowned when he found out they weren't done with him, what could these people want with him... he was nothing more then a merchant now... had he wronged them back in his galloping days when he was free, or perhaps they were part of his father's plan with the Zombie Pills. Maybe they thought he knew where the rest were... but to his knowledge they were all burned to ashes or or sunk to the bottom of the sea, probably eaten by some fish that are now undead from the pills no doubt.

Vyse grimaced at the thought of him being in cahoots with other people, that meant more people to hunt down, Ratterung was going to charge a large price for the information he wanted. Vyse turned back to Seamus, "Looks like when we get to Cascadia I'll be doing some information digging... Vyse the Berserker is going to take a vacation from Vyse the Merchant... Qadaj and his new assistant can take care of the company while I'm gone. Once we get to Cascadia I'll get the information I need and head to where I need to go on Tiger-back. What about you Seamus, you plan on some information digging yourself or are you going to do something else? Oh, better question, do you know that guy and do you know why he would kidnap the leader of a failing merchant company?" Vyse needed answers, the man in wisp form called Seamus by an odd name, probably an alias or something, maybe a title, either way, he knew him and that could mean Seamus knew something about the man's operation. There was little chance the two were working together, but he needed all the answers to as many questions as he could get before talking to Ratt. It was going to be a long day.

The pirate's face grew dark. "I couldn't say. That man, Franciscus Draco, is a strange man. For the life of me, I couldn't tell you the last time I saw him angry, or scared, or happy. He just keeps his damned poker face on, and a good one at that. If his business has to do with you, I'd guess that it has something to do with that "we" he was talking about. If I was you, I would talk to a man named 'Smith'. He's an elf, dresses like a horse-riding pooftah, old as the stones, but he's got a hand in just about e'ery pie, and an ear on e'ery lockhole. I dunno how he manages it, but that old blighter knows just about e'erything, far as I can tell. It wouldn't surprise me if he knew something. Last I heard, he was riding up and down Chaon with this little twig of a girl, pretty young lass. If I was a sight younger and a sight less 'taken', I would grind my wheel, but those times have passed me."

That "Smith" was indeed a curious person. They had met almost as an accident, with a rival of the O'Halloran crew hiding out in a small town where Smith was for a time. The O'Hallorans swept in and got beaten back by the old elf, even with an unconscious man strung round his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. Not just that either, he had a huge tiger that leaped on men and drove them to the ground, but merely knocking them unconscious rather than killing them. Smith avoided killing the assailants as well, and good thing, for it would have been a slaughter otherwise. When Seamus ordered a cease-fire, he went up to Smith and got the unconscious man lobbed at him. Surprised, the sky pirate nearly dropped his rival, but quickly picked him up, slinging him around his shoulders in much the same manner as the elf. The elf said simply that that man was a criminal and did not belong in the village, that he knew that the sky pirate knew him, that he was now responsible. He did not say anything else, as if it was just that simple. Seamus got the feeling that for whatever crime the man did, he was well rewarded, for the cloth that gagged his mouth was tinged with blood, and his shirt was torn and resown. The two men, Seamus and Smith, had met again, but this was the first.

He had looked away for a moment, a wisp of a smile on his face, his eyes distant, and turned back to Vyserial. "Well, it was pleasant, but we'll be reaching Cascadia within a half-hour, and I need to get the papers in order. If that's all, I'll be off."

Vyse nodded, he stroked his chin... Smith... he knew a man with that surname, his eyes widened, "You know Zeke? Ezekial Smith? He's helped me out several times before, but just like most of my other friends his movements aren't predictable, makes it rather hard to track down anyone I consider a friend. Though if Zeke knows about this... I should probably tell him what happened once I find him." He stroked his chin, thinking of all the things, why would Zeke know about this... sure he was an old elf and could have easily made numerous friends and enemies, but what could he possibly know about these men, everything or perhaps nothing, he would have to get Ratt to gather information about Draco and Zeke, try to find some kind of connection.

He looked back up as the man excused himself, Vyse spoke up one last time, "Yes, that is all, thank you for your help." He let the man walk off as he relaxed, he hadn't had a night's rest on a solid surface in a long time. Though right no he wasn't tired, he knew once his feet were back on solid ground he would be sleeping for a week.

For a while all Vyse did was stay out of everyone's way, he helped out whenever he was asked to though. He found the crew was rather kind, he would work with these men then listen to people chatter for hours at a fancy banquet, the food was usually good but the feeling of working and talking to people who actually share similar interests. Some day he would have to get a ship of his own, but that day was far off.
