Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It was time. The veil of darkness had presented itself dutifully over the glistening frame of Cascadia, and the bustling streets which had been so eagerly full before were calm; almost lifeless. Lyavel had originally been in Cascadia in order to buy himself something along the lines of a new pair of suede shoes, but had found himself utterly struck in awe when coming across a small, shady looking dealer who offered him 'perfectly legitimate goods' for extremely low prices; and with morality being a fool's code, Lyavel had hungrily snapped up a bag of thieves' tools. It had been a while since Lyavel had put to use anything remotely like a lockpick; or had any inclination to break into somewhere illegally for that matter.

However, with the acquisition of this bag o' tools, it was all going to change...

The Elf had scouted out a small, relatively out of sight structure in the city, and had watched it painstakingly over the course of the day from a well hidden spot; in order to gain insight into the workings and/or daily routines of anyone who may have been within the house. Oddly, just so he could break into the house and rob them blind whilst they decided to sleep. But, although it may have seemed slightly redundant, he had to make sure that the Guard Patrols and other such factors would not impair what it was that he was planning to do, or anything remotely similar in situation to an event. The art of picking a lock was delicate, and needed time (though, not much) and concentration to be completed to a respectable level. Whilst stealing from within would be noticeable, the lock and method of entry had to be absolutely flawless.

Of course, with it being Lyavel, it was going to be. The perfectionist Elf had made his move swiftly, and by the time that any guard would be within eyeshot, was already at the door to the property, lockpick ready, and most importantly, hood up in order to mask his face. The first step to becoming a master criminal was going to be the easiest, and definitely the most fun out of them all. From what he could tell, this little expedition of his was going to end with Lyavel's pockets being slightly fuller than they had been before. Selling 'hot' property, whilst off-hand, was one of the easiest ways to get up the acquisition of gold.

After a few seconds, with a triumphant click!, the lock was opened, and the house became at the mercy of the Elf's to explore...

It twus a bad night to go out. After what happened, he shouldn't be seen. Not for a while, anyway. Well, he was given reasons to not be seen and he agreed with them. Safer and more efficient this way. Going hungry for two nights in a row shouldn't hurt him that much. He had suffered and lived through worse, of course. Allaer looked at his arm and seemed to zone out for a moment. Much, much worse.

With a sigh, Allaer kicked a chair over. He was restrained to his room for far too long and he was getting reckless. He didn't even feel like reading as it was too much of a chore at this point. The chair hit the floor with a light thud. On any normal day, that would have been bad for him. Nobody was home now so he could make as much noise as he wanted. This was frustrating, so much nothing. Nothing at all to do! Allaer rolled off of his bed and fell onto the floor. He stayed there with the sole satisfaction that putting effort into posts was for sissies.

Upon entry, the first thing which the man noticed about the interior of this house was... it was dark. Well, that was a given considering the time of day; but somehow, he needed to either let his eyes adjust to the darkness which greeted him, or go as far as to light up the room he was in. Now, the man knew that the latter was probably one of the stupidest things he could ever think of doing when in the midst of a robbery; so that was going to be exactly what he was going to do! Not only would it make it easier on him, but it may make things less easy than they were originally appearing to the man since the entering of the house. After all, what was the game if there was nothing which could have been considered an opponent? Lyavel wasn't really in it for the gold at that point; he was in it for the thrill for the experience of becoming a master t-

You better not be thinking of anything stupid.

The mental chain of the Elf was completely and utterly shattered in all feasible ways by the sudden incursion of his companion, a fly dragon by the name of Sten's sudden incursion into the mental cavities of the Elf. Not only did it, as usual, almost make the Elf jump, but as stated, he completely lost the train of thought which had been going through his mind regarding the 'lighting up' of the house he was in. In fact, he became more focused in being angry at the Dragon's sudden appearance instead. “What in the name of the abyss are you doing?!” He hissed, very quietly at the creature; taking his time to close the door silently behind the newly appeared creature who had decided to follow him inside.

Luckily for the man, by the time he had mouthed at the creature and shut the door, his eyes had begun to adjust to the limited lighting within the building; now effectively nullifying any plans that he had been making prior to the Dragon's rude and sudden outburst. Looking around, it was clear that the inhabitants of this house were... Elves. Not that it was really difficult for Lyavel to make such an assumption, considering that he had been watching them leaving the house sporadically over the course of the day. Now, over a quick scan of the room, he came across a few things which he decided could worth being stolen; whilst most were simple cutlery and ceramics, the main thing which caught his eye was the bookshelf. Elven literature had to be worth something in this age, right?

Suddenly, there was a loud noise which erupted from the upper level of the house. Unlike the Dragon's speech, this did make the Elf jump, and whilst he didn't make a noise, he instinctively turned his vision up to the ceiling in a rather futile effort to see anything. He turned immediately to the Dragon, who proceeded to try and say something mentally, but was cut off by the elf shaking his head vigorously.

Moving over to the door once again, he silently opened it slightly; just enough to let the Dragon through. “Go and check if there's anything above us,” he whispered to the creature.

Gods forbid you could say please.

However, though clearly replying in distaste, the creature zipped out of the door and up to examine to upper levels of the house from its windows.

Allaer sat up on the floor and just sat there for a minute. He turned his head to stare out the window. He was focusing on a star that he could see from here... when it started to split into two from his eyes doing that weird eye thing. Of course, that was before his focus was interrupted by something flying past his window. What in the Abyss was that? Allaer stumbled up and went to his window to open it.

Upon opening his window, he looked around. "Where'd its go?" He mumbled to himself. He doubted that was a bug, too big to be a bug but too small to be something else... Maybe it was a shooting star? That was in front of other houses... okay it was something! "Damn its." He said and leaned out his window with his feet up, trying to distract himself. He lost the one thing that might've killed his boredom.

Whilst the dragon made its way up and toward the higher levels of the property, Lyavel took the slight respite after the shock of the noise to take in a (this time more detailed) view of his surroundings. In addition to everything else he had established mentally prior to this examination, he noticed a few more things which could have been considered stealable from from the property; but at that moment in time he was on something of a different mental trail. The noise had made him rethink the whole affair, and he found himself ticking over on other ways wherein he could potentially either hide and/or escape from the house from if everything did happen to go very much downhill. After all, it was pivotal for the Elf to have a method of escaping, else it'd bad were the guards to be called.

The dragon on the other hand soon found itself close enough to the window that it was able to accurately peer inside. Being rather bold in its personality, and well aware of its rather, less than large stature, the creature zipped straight up to the window to take a peep inside... And it was spotted. Almost immediately, the creature, after being face to face with the Elf which was in the room, zipped off and away. It couldn't let Lyavel know that it had been spotted, but it was also obliged to let the man know that there was something else in the house with him. Pride was a very prominent characteristic for the small creature.

There's an Elf upstairs.

And that was that. The dragon's mental voice giving Lyavel a blunt and to the point answer, and not giving away anything which could lead the man to believe that it had been spotted. Well, the only problem now was managing to get back in the house and making sure that one, this Elf didn't take its time to come downstairs and follow him, or two that it could somehow get back in the house; and whether or not the opening of the front door by Lyavel could potentially alert the Elf. The sudden appearance of the red-eyes Elf had put the dragon in somewhat of a predicament; and it could only really think of one thing to do for that moment.

I'll remain outside. I'm going to... Explore.

Though it was outside of the range to adequately hear Lyavel's response, the man still sniffed in slight amusement at the creature's change of heart. Whatever the reason was, Lyavel didn't particularly mind; in fact without the constant nagging of the dragon, he could probably actually get things done. In fact, the dragon's constant questioning of morality and ethics were never good to have when in situation such as the one Lyavel was faced with.

But... There was someone else in the house with him. An 'Elf' was on the floor above him; and Lyavel was in two minds of how to react. The first was relatively simple: he'd stay quiet, go about his business, and sneak away without anyone knowing any the wiser. The second was somewhat of a less orthodox plan of action: the idea was to divert the attention of the other person in the house; and, whilst they were confused, knock them out and then he'd have the entirety of the house at his mercy. But, fighting wasn't really a part of the man's retinue. The first option seemed something of a better idea when taking everything into consideration...
