We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Zenjirou sat in the inn, Lumi told him to take the one in the back at the farthest corner, why did it matter so much, he could take care of this murder job by himself... even if they had ten guards around the house at all times that were also targeted for slaughter. He sighed as he ordered water from a barmaid, needed to keep his mind clear for the kill, she had told him to get creative with this one, his mind was a buzz with ideas, maybe he should hang the man's family upside down, cut open their bellies, and watch as they try to keep their own intestines in... delicious. The maid came back and he thanked her, drinking from the water slowly, he thought back as to what Lumi said, the person joining him had just joined up, someone good enough to be his partner on the riskier murders. He chuckled, who would be the poor sap to have to deal with him, his psychotic grins and demented stories, his partner's life would be living hell trying to keep up with him. He looked outside, the sun was starting to set... where was his supposed partner, if they were late maybe Zenji could kill him... nah... Lumi would just get angry at him, and that was the last thing he wanted to do, well, besides die himself. |

[OOC: Sorry for taking so long to respond!] Nomad thought of her new "permanent" home as nothing more than a formality. A home was a cage. Keeping with her nickname, the elemental neglected to truly settle into the living quarters that Lumi had set aside for her in Striberg. Her possessions sat in a neat pile in the corner, as though she could simply pack up and leave at any moment. She was told that her first job would be interesting. The murder they needed to perform was only her secondary objective; what Lumi really wanted was a pair of eyes. She wanted someone to watch the man now under the company's control. He was described to her as irredeemably psychotic, a dog that needed to be kept on a very tight leash. With Nomad there, she could make sure the killer didn't step out of line; or, if he did, she could quickly and efficiently kill him. Leaving her quarters, Nomad set out for the inn where they were supposed to meet. The sun was beginning to set. She slung her black and green bow's strap over her shoulder, looking around. Shops were closing and people were heading back home after a long days' work. The inn was getting crowded, making Nomad uneasy. She made her way to the back corner where the man she presumed to be her partner was sitting, sipping a glass of water. The elemental pulled up a seat across from him. "Zenjirou," she said, offering a hand. "Call me Nomad." She looked around, as though making sure nobody was listening to their conversation. "I'm a sharpshooter. I will support you from the shadows." |

Zenjirou saw someone enter the tavern, a woman, a bow slung over her shoulder, that was probably his contact. He smirked when she offered him her hand, he shook it carefully, making sure the spikes on his gauntlets didn't pierce her hands. He nodded, "Lumi probably told you all about me, I'm just a mad dog on a leash, right? Don't worry though, I'm far to interested in Lumi to try and gnaw my leash, plus her jobs are starting to get fun again." He smirked as he remembered his last job, he had dumped the corpses into a fountain in a plaza along with the calling card of a new thieves guild that was trying to take some of Lumi's profits, now they were being hunted down by everyone. He stood up, walking next to her and whispering into her ear, "Just call me Zenji... or Cruel Cutter, the man who killed more then a dozen families in Cascadia." He felt it was necessary to instill fear or respect into others, it made them wary of him, kept them from underestimating them, it also caused terror in others, maybe this Nomad woman would be fun to play with. He made for the door, motioning for her to follow, making for alleys to discuss the killing, "Just shoot the men coming to attack me from the back, otherwise I'll be able to kill them. Oh... if you want to help with the actual murder and the preparation of the bodies go ahead, I'm thinking hanging from intestines or maybe mounting their heads where their trophies are... decisions, decisions..." His mind wandered back to plans he had in his head, oh the glorious slaughter that was to come, now to wait for Nomad's questions or her suggestions, if she didn't approve she could take it up with Lumi. |

The red-haired man was genuinely insane. Nomad looked cautious as she shook his hand, as though a single slip-up might provoke a murderous rage from her coworker. It was a good thing that Nomad fought from the shadows; she wouldn't have to worry about Zenjirou accidentally killing her as well in the frenzy of combat. Nomad fought back a shudder when the murderer whispered into her ear. Her muscles tensed, grip on her bow tightening. Beyond his exotic appearance and cruel smirk, there was just something fundamentally wrong about him. People like him just shouldn't exist. She waited for him to proceed toward the exit before getting up and following him. Now that it was getting fairly dark, Nomad's black eyes barely strained at all. Being nocturnal by nature really helped with nighttime jobs in that respect. The system of alleyways around Striberg were even darker, letting the sniper somewhat relax a bit as she walked alongside Zenjirou. He explained the plan, and Nomad nodded. Of course, she wouldn't help with the more sadistic aspects of the murder, and the way he deliberated the method of displaying the corpses made the corners of her mouth turn downward slightly. She didn't say anything, though. They eventually approached the house of their target. Surrounded by ten guards, it would not be easy to break through. Nomad wordlessly broke off and got to work climbing the nearest building: another house nearby, with a flat roof perfect for sharpshooting. Her setup was fairly simple, crouching at the edge with the hood of her cloak up to obscure her form. By the time she was ready, Zenji was already just beginning to tear through the first of the guards. The whole group came running. Nomad pulled a long shaft of moonlight seemingly from thin air, nocking it on her bow and pulling back the string. She aimed very carefully, waiting for the perfect moment. One of the guards rounded around the murderer's flank, a stiletto pulled into his off-hand. He prepared to backstab the killer before Nomad loosed her arrow. It punched into his skull, a puff of cold air rising from the wound. He fell, lifeless. |

Zenjirou chuckled as they reached the house, ten guards, this was nothing since he had backup. He immediately charged in, his blade flashing as he dodged around his opponent, cutting off his hand at the wrist, spinning his blade back around the catch his throat with the tip of his blade, Sangue Lupo, the wound pouring blood as if it had been completely sliced open. He turned to see two men splitting up, trying to get behind him, he immediately stopped one of them with a well timed thrust, spearing his foot with his katana, ripping it upward to shave his leg of most of it's muscle, he was ready to turn around when he heard a gurgled scream, a stiletto falling between his legs, Nomad was actually doing her job, most people that joined him simply kept out of his way. He kept his movements quick and clean, making sure to separate one of them from the back each time he attacked, giving Nomad clear shots at them, one by one, by one. His blade shearing the air in two as it bit into arms and legs, digging into chests and ripping out, spraying blood over a nearby garden. He noticed they were getting wise to his tactics, they were well trained, they started to attack him all at once, pushing him back as he parried their blows, his katana masterfully catching several weapons along it's edge, flicking them away to block the last few strikes, this needed to end soon. |

There was a surprising amount of intelligence in Zenjirou's fighting. He set up openings for her, drove out and isolated some of the guards. It allowed the two of them to take out nearly all of them with alarming efficiency. The last of them ganged up around the killer. A dagger appeared from the shadows behind him, wrapped around his throat and slit it from end to end. The guard dropped to the ground, revealing Nomad just behind him. She cleaned off her weapon on the clothes of the fallen man, allowing the Cruel Cutter to dispatch of the remaining guards. A scene of pure carnage stretched out from the front door of the house. Nomad chose not to linger on it, instead rummaging through her victim's possessions. She eventually found a key, which she used to unlock the door to the house. Twisting the doorknob and opening it, she waited with an expectant look at Zenjirou, apparently planning to follow him inside to help him finish the job. |

Zenjirou sighed as the last man was cut down, things were going all to easily, there was usually at least one skilled man, a lone mercenary ready to fight a weakened Zenjirou... but no one was there in that crowd. He followed Nomad to the door and saw her unlock it, he smirked, she was being cautious, he was the murderer, this was his job, break in and kill everyone. He walked inside, arrows were painted on the wall in dried blood, which was odd, it was something he usually did, but he made sure it was always fresh blood, fresh left a statement, dried was just tacky, he shrugged and chuckled, "The man has got some taste at least, though I would have gone with fresh and arcane writings about some long dead dark god... oh well, to each their own." He walked and followed the arrows, looking back at Nomad, "You should follow at a distance or try to take a different path Nomad, allow me to walk into the trap." He couldn't help but feel giddy, maybe the trap would be effective and actually hurt him for once. He followed the path, the hall, going through different rooms, he noticed the arrows starting to move a bit... they were being lured into a never ending path, he grimaced and punched the wall, looking around, "Nomad, I believe the man hired a mage to make these arrows... we've past this door twice and the arrow has switched twice." His ears perked up, he could hear something... but it was gone in a second, like someone shouted... Zenjirou smirked, his target was still in the house. He went off the targeted path, opening a door that an arrow wasn't pointing to, it opened up to a brick wall. Zenjirou frowned, that was odd, they had entered this room once before, he turned to Nomad, "I don't think this is a normal house anymore... more like a mystic maze, could be interesting, right?" He placed his katana on his shoulder and continued walking, as he turned the corner to what should be the hall they first came from, instead was a hall as far as the eye could see, thousands of doors laying down them, Zenjirou smirked and turned to face Nomad, "Well, I think we'll be here for a while longer then we'd like, shall we split up or stick together?" He didn't care either way, he was going to find and kill the man who did this, to much time wasted, not enough blood spilled, he was getting slightly annoyed. |

The inside of the house wasn't the sort of environment that would bring out a normal person's cheery disposition. When Zenjirou told Nomad to stay back a bit, or to take a different route, the sharpshooter didn't just oblige; she wanted to stay away from him. Still, she kept the killer in her sight, keeping in mind Lumi's orders. The first indication to Nomad that the house wasn't quite what it seemed was the fact that they quickly covered too much ground to be possible in such a small building. Nomad paused to look around, but her view was obscured by the many bloodstained walls, twists and turns. She looked over at Zenji, who had just opened up an unmarked door to a brick wall. "To waste our time," Nomad offered as an explanation for the magicking of the house's interior. They pressed on. They rounded a corner, and Nomad wheeled to a stop. Unlike the tight, cramped hallways before, this path seemed to stretch on infinitely, fading into a single point. At either side of them were thousands upon thousands of doors. "I don't even understand," Nomad said softly. "What were they hoping to accomplish here? This is too elaborate an escape plan." Regarding Zenjirou's question, she answered, of course, according to Lumi's orders. "I will stay with you. Carry on." Would he enter a door or continue down the hall, she wondered? If the former, which one? They all looked identical. Nomad wasn't sure if she would have been able to make that decision herself. |

Zenjirou chuckled, "It's not an escape plan Nomad... it's a distraction, something or someone is preparing something for us, and I personally can't wait to run into it and rip it apart with my blade in hand." He walked to the first door, placing his ear to it, nothing, he cracked it open to look inside, he saw something metal. He stood to the side and opened to door towards him, making sure to keep the door in front of him as it opened. A clicking sound was heard and a large quantity of arrows shot into the wall, the doors were trapped. Zenji smiled and clapped his hands slowly, appreciating the trap choice, well made but easily foiled... his favorite kind. He did the same thing, opening random doors and making sure he wasn't in front of them when they opened, flames, icicles, arrows, thorns, lightning, plenty of other things shot out of the doors to. He smiled as he heard something... chanting perhaps...? Or was it someone singing... either way it was making noise and he felt like snuffing out a life. He walked to the door he heard the singing from, it opened up to show the man they were sent to kill... and a man with skin as black as tar, his hair a deep bloody red, his features looking strangely similar to Zenjirou's own face, the only difference was the look alike had a scythe in his hands instead of a katana. Zenji smiled, "What do we have here sir... who is that devilishly good looking man, I would hate to have to kill someone like that." He winked at his look alike who simply grimaced at him, Zenjirou realized he didn't even have a flicker of who he really was... oh well, time to kill a magical doppleganger. Their target spoke, "I have summoned something that not even YOU could fight against Zenjirou! I have summoned a demon and given it form and had it shaped into the most evil and chaotic man in town... that is you! You will die today and burn for all eternity!" He was filled with elation, his assassin was going to be killed and he would be free to leave Striberg unharmed. Zenjirou smiled as he waved Sangue Lupo at his duplicate, "A demon huh... you made one mistake with that, I'm destruction and murder incarnate, not even a demon can take me down!" He rushed the doppleganger, looking back to Nomad, "Kill the target and watch me slaughter this demon! It will be glorious!" He laughed like a mad man as he kept up his barrage of slashes. |

Even Nomad knew that summoning a demon to kill Zenjirou was practically like fighting fire with fire. She wordlessly accepted the killer's advice, letting him stay occupied by the tar-skinned man while she turned her attention to their original target. The man bolted, apparently realizing that the demon he summoned would not protect him. Nomad could have executed him right then and there, but she also wanted to distance herself from this fight. She pursued him in a bounding jog, quickly catching up, grabbing him by the back of his shirt collar, and violently pulling him down onto his back. Keeping him from struggling by pinning him with a boot, she took out an arrow from the quiver on her hip and nocked it. "I guess this is where I beg for my life, eh?" said the target, oddly smug about the whole matter. "No," Nomad said softly, drawing back the arrow and pointing it within a few feet of the man's forehead. "This is where you thank me." "Where I thank you?" "The other man would not have made this quick." Nomad loosed the arrow. The sharpshooter looked up to watch the ongoing fight between the killer and the demon. |

Zenjirou slashed at the demon, watching it block with the the scythe's haft, the doppelganger twisting the scythe around to knock the katana away as he brought his blade down at Zenji's shoulder. Zenjirou leaped to the side falling into a roll and hopping back up, already stepping forward to slash at him once again, aiming for his throat. The battle went on for minutes like that, dodging, parrying, barely missing with each strike. They were equals in combat it seemed... until the doppelganger landed a single hit with his scythe blade, causing a deep gash in his right shoulder. Zenjirou held onto his blade and smiled, his true nature showing as he let out a horrifying shout, no man could mimic it unless his ultimate dream was fulfilled, Zenjirou wanted power, and he found something that could give it to him. He rushed him, redoubling his efforts, his slashes randomly becoming feints at the last minute, his blade flowing and striking, his blade constantly barely cutting his foe's flesh. Blood was starting to pool at his feet, Sangue Lupo was truly his 'Bloody Wolf.' He to though had lost quite a bit of blood. The thing was that both of them had the same psychotic grin of satisfaction on their faces, their blades clashed again, this time the scythe spinning out of the doppelganger's hand, Zenjirou to lost hold of his katana, both of them fighting with their fists. Just pounding away at each other, blood flying from their mouths as gashes opened up, blood running down their faces, both of them laughing at the same time, until finally Zenjirou knocked down his doppelganger, walking over and picking up his foe's scythe. He walked over to him, raising the scythe for a decapitating blow, then oddly enough, he spoke, "I will give you your life... in exchange for eternal servitude to my will and goals." The demonic doppelganger just smiled, nodding as he disappeared, the scythe giving off a black aura as his skin slowly turned black, his wounds stitching up, his eyes red, his skin black... but the demon let Zenjirou keep one thing, the blood red left arm, it was his show of agreement with him, he would leave that arm alone. Zenjirou looked back at Nomad and chuckled, "I am much more interesting now... aren't I Nomad? We don't have any time to lose, we'll just burn the house down, you can leave now, I can do the rest." He looked around, finding an oil lamp, he would start his new life the way he did so many years ago... by burning down a mansion full of corpses. |

The spell -- maybe some sort of illusion -- faded around them, revealing them both to still be in their target's house. Their target lie dead in his living room, an arrow stuck through his forehead. Nomad pulled out the projectile with a violent jerk, cleaning it on the corpse's clothing before putting it back into the quiver on her hip. The gesture gave her something to do, like a nervous tic, when faced with the grim reality of what had happened here. Zenjirou had absorbed the demon, taking on its power. Nomad had no idea what Lumi would think. Could Lumi even control the killer now? This man was a serious risk to the Enterprises. Nonetheless, Nomad nodded politely at her coworker. "T-thank you for working with me," she said, backing away slowly before turning and moving toward the exit. At this point, there was nothing she could do about Zenjirou; the gap in power between them had just grown by leagues. Maybe she could have prevented a killing spree, but self-preservation was the most important thing to her at this point. This information would have to be Lumi's problem now. Nomad left from the back door and disappeared into the night, making a beeline to her boss' house. Zenjirou's acquisition of demonic power was definitely urgent enough to warrant interrupting Lumi in the middle of the night. |
