Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Fen sat in a large clearing smacking his blade against a large piece of wood on which lay the plans for a new, grand museum being made to honor what was Taras. Looking at the diagram he saw many things he didn't quite understand, because all he knew of Taras were the ruins. He wasn't here to see it in his glory but he was happy to help restore it. As far as he knew he was here mainly to help defend the workers, with them would come one other warrior, a dwarf as it were. A master of his trade and battle, a great ally to have in both war and construction.

The day was nice, glorious even. Fen never felt this great, it was the first day since coming to the world of the light that he felt like his true self. He felt once more like a knight of his lord's court and he knew he was going to be doing good. Like all other truths of this world his good was also evil, as much as he wanted to help with this mighty deed, his main cause for being here was payment.

He could see on the horizon a group of men carrying tools and resources headed towards the clearing. Standing he began to wave so that they would see his position. These few workers made it to the clearing and began to construct the museums base. "Well my friends before the rest of the group gets here allow me to say that I am honored to help restore one of this worlds great regions. So let's give it our best and not quit until our hands bleed or the jobs done!"

After his poor attempt at a motivational speech he took his seat once more and awaited the remaining workers.

The dwarf rode in the front of the trading caravan, the reins of the horse held in his hands lazily. The air around him mingled the scent of sweat and alcohol, a mixture he was all too familiar and fond with. He didn't quite notice the odd and occasional glances that came from the rest of the crew that was riding along with him, mostly packed into the back of the caravan. Beyond the two kegs that he had personally requested, they brought on enough supplies to build most of the building-along with the tools to be used.
"Oi! On the horizon! Pull into there, good dwarf."
The dwarf looked up at the man, nodding his burly head and hitting the reins, the horses jerking the entire caravan forward. The building was on the outskirts of town, but they were still far enough in for the hair to stick up on the back of his neck. He didn't know if it was the nature of the town now, or perhaps the tales of when it had been destroyed that was putting him on edge.
Without a word, the stout warrior moved to the back of the cart and began loading off supplies. His strength was worth almost three of the human workers, and his enthusiasm worth almost six as he set out logs and stone into neat piles on the side of the road. He wasn't sure who else was joining them for the construction, but he hoped it was someone who had some sense for building.
He shook his head as he looked at the building, setting the last of the wooden beams into the pile he had begun to setup, "I'll never understand ye humans, buildin' yer nonsense up. If ye want a good sturdy city that won't be taken over by demons, ye build down! Never seen a dwarf city reduced to such a mess."
He continued his grumbling, continuing to help move supplies into work stations. As they set up wood and supplies, he tapped a hand against the axe on his hip. Many of the humans were setting up places to measure the wood, cutting it into proper sections to be used. He wondered if they would let him try his hand at building instead of just standing around as muscle, defense against the bandits and slavers that took residence in the ruins of the city.
He glanced over another warrior amongst the crowd that waited in the outskirts of this town. He looked to be of a different origin then the humans, though the dwarf didn't care to take a guess at what exactly he was. Whatever it was it was irrelevant, so long as he could hold his own in a battle-line the dwarf had no problems with him.
He tightened his belt with determination and walked towards the man, stepping up to him and looking up in an attempt to stand on even ground. He remained silent for a moment before extending his arm, nodding his head towards the demon-kin man, "Ye can call me Thovar, seein' as we'll likely have ta' fight next ta' each other I figured I'd introduce meself. Makes no sense defending a man who's name ye don't even know."
The dwarf let out a harrumph noise and sighed, retracting his hand regardless if it was shaken or not. The thought that he forgot his kegs on the back of the caravan made his throat feel a little dry, regretting having begun working before swigging one down. Or both, as the case may be.

He extended his hand as the dwarf had, "well, my name is Fen and for the sake of this venture, I've got your back." Fen felt very good about working with this dwarf, he sensed that he was a person much like himself, well himself on his deepest levels. All day the workers had been giving him odd looks, was it because he played with his sword all the time or because he was a demon, unsure as he was he continued with his job.

It was about time for dinner, the workers hadn't been there for a whole day yet and it seemed so much was already complete. Well the outside that is. The museum was far from built, but as long as he was getting paid at the end he didn't care all that much. He stood up stretching and sighing, "hey Thovar, hold down the fort, I'll take a couple guys to gather water. Can you cook?" He chuckled because obviously all dwarves could cook, sober. But uncertain if Thovar was drunk or not he picked up a couple buckets and led a few strong men to the river bed to gather water.

One man approached Fen as they were traveling, "excuse me sir, but you aren't a human are you?" He looked strangely at him. "No, worker, I am not. And I am no elf or vampire. I am a noble demon of my lord's empire. I mean no harm to any of you, I'm just doing my job."

The man laughed a bit, "oh boy Fen. We weren't judging you all day, we were wondering if you were actually strong enough to hold off an assault, I mean you are kind of a small guy." Chuckling he turned away from the human. "I assure you, I've seen much more fighting than you could ever hope to see."

The day was uneventful for the dwarf, most of his duties keeping him far from the kegs that rested just on the corners of his thought. He had decided to toss his hat into aiding the building process, the human's benefiting greatly from a good and proper dwarf teachin' lesson. He was comfortable with the job, enough that he had placed his buckler against the wall of the building as he went about his work. It wasn't uncommon for the dwarf to leave the dented heap of junk lying around, but he had to admit it was much more comforting to have it tied to his arm.
When the demon brought up holding down the fort, and cooking, the quickest retort he got from the dwarf was a snort. Could he cook?! Give him anythin' that had stopped breathing and he'd make sure everyone who had taste buds would still be in the morning. Though that might be false, he was still unsure on the exact hardiness of the average human's stomach, let alone the fairy elves or other races that ran about on this above ground cesspool. He found it all a little complicated, difficult to take in.
"Ye just get yer water, let ol' Thovar worry about cookin'. Bring me any meat ye find on the way and I'll make ye a stew ye won't soon forget!"
Which was entirely true, though he wasn't aware of exactly how true it was. His famous surprise stew often sent the average human into their respective restrooms for the remainder of the night, most of the meat he found often just lying about. His body was hardy enough to just see it as a spicy bit of stew, the humans finding it to be mildly toxic. Shame, though it left him to relaxing with their drink while they were off doin' he-never-knew-what.

He sat around the fire as the workers began to turn in, each one laying out cots and tents depending on what they brought. Each man here was just hired on for the job, no real benefactor keeping them on a steady payroll. Not a bad gig, so far as things are concerned. He had to admit there was a certain fondness in him for the town, and humans in general. It was almost dwarfy to see them beaten to the brink in this city, and they still wanted to keep on building, making the town live up to it's past glory. It was a stubbornness that the dwarf couldn't help but respect.
He tapped a hand onto his belly as he could smell the stew bubbling. He opted to cook for much of the crews earlier, but he had a feeling that the human who led his personal caravan into the area dissuaded the camp from letting him. He let the man eat one sheep that may have still been bleating, and he pays for it for the whole trip.
Ah well, that left him to his business. He set himself back, twisting the kegs he was using as pillows around enough so he could pour himself a glass of the strong dwarven ale. He was never fond of masonry and building things in general, especially when one used a hammer and not a proper chisel, so he had decided to bring along some of the best stuff he could. Taking a swig, the dwarf almost immediately felt the substance bubble up into a belch that would make a salamander proud. With a smile on his face, he turned to the man next to him and lifted his glass.
"Cheers, we should be done with this place a'fore the week is out."
Thinking on what he just said, he began to wonder if he truly brought enough of the creature. He hoped so, if there was a proper fight and he was out he had to wonder how he would truly cope. He hadn't fought sober in at least five years, and doing it now wasn't a prospect that brought him any joy.

The men had reached the riverbed when a growl came from nearby, a wolf? Fen remembered Thovar asking him to bring back anything he could find for food on their little treck so he want to find the source. The larger man who had been talking to him was with him, axe in hand. "Shh we have to be quiet, who knows what we may find here."

The growling got more and more loud until Fen felt a drop of something on his head. "S-s-ser Fen. There's a bear right above us...." Laughing, "above us? What is it a demon bear?" Looking up towards the source of the growling he saw a large ten foot tall demon bear. Spinning his blade as he drew it from his side, he thrust it upwards into the bears heart. "Demon or not Thovar should be happy with this plunder. Someone, come and help carry this thing!" A few men grabbed a hold of the beast and they carried it and the water back to the location of their camp.

They reached the camp and threw the beast on the ground near Thovar, "this should suffice." He plopped back down on the ground prepared to sleep. "Ugh. I hate working so much, I'd ratheer just relax all day on the beaches of the Moonsea."

He laid there for a few minutes trying to fall asleep but he couldn't help but get a strange feeling. He had had it since the first moment he stepped a foot on the land there. "Hey Thovar, does this place give you an odd feeling of uncertainty?" He laid his arms beneath his head and stared up towards the night sky. It was so peaceful, he didn't want anything to ruin that.

I hope nothing makes this venture any harder than it already is, I really don't wanna rough it here for more than a week.
