Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The sun was setting, night coming fast, and all Diana did was sit in a bar and have a drink. There were more popular places she could have gone, but a lot of places were noisy, filled with brightness and simply not to her taste. Of course, this one was a calmer, quieter place that happened to be just a little dark and to her mood. Diana did not often take to bars, but today she was in a mood to forget her woes in a few drinks.

She could see her last few days of trouble in her head, every one of them, Emily still queen of her nightmares. She took a long drink trying to get rid of the image. She wanted to be loose, let herself be calm, and if she were to be insane she might as well blame it on the drink rather then let herself be truly crazy. She wasn't really much a fan of Cascadia, but it was close and she had been in the mood to actually be in a town. The best part of Cascadia was that she was not wanted here, so she could be at ease and know she would not be taken by the guards for now.

Unfortunately this was just a bar, and after a few drinks she would have to go find an inn that was not constantly having music that would keep her up all night. That was not easy as most in Cascadia fancied themselves as artists, even the ones who were not so good. Maybe she'd make things easier on herself, find someone with a house living alone and take over for a night. That might be fun, letting herself have some fun before she left too. No need to kill anyone, but she could always leave her mark on them the way Emily had left a mark on her.

"Good evening, world."

Allaer said as he opened his window. The sun was just setting, he still had a good ten minutes before he could safely go out. He went to go change his clothes out from sleeping attire. After that was done, he adjusted his shirt collar a bit before jumping out his window haphazardly. Landing in the yard, he watched as his window was just left open for him to attempt to get back into in the morning. His parents still didn't know he was still living in his room, they left it untouched. Their son was dead to them, he was kicked out of his family and disowned.

What a sad story, Allaer got over it of course. Who knows how long it's been, counting was for people that cared! What Allaer cared about was being awesome and living his life to it's fullest. Of course living life to it's fullest involved not starving to death... He would need to find some unfortunate victim so he could continue his evening. Sucks for them, ha. Pun. It was funny, laugh.

Of course, despite his constant issues with roofs and the liking, he was walking around on them. He was too cool to use roads. It also gave him a quick way to find secluded alleyways and the liking. Of course, that only took him a short while to do. He found one with a single woman walking down it. Time to introduce himself! Being polite was always key to these things.

Coming over to the edge, Allaer crouched down with his knees bent outwards. He was on the edge of the roof. "Greetings, madam. How are you this evening?" He asked with his best charming smile. He needed to work on that more, probably. What was that smell, though? He just couldn't place it. He would have to get closer. His dull red eyes were watching the woman's precise movements.

When Diana got out of the bar she was certainly not drunk. She simply was not quite careless enough to let herself get drunk, but she had let herself get a little bit more loose. She felt like singing as she looked for an inn, walking down the street alone at night. Cascadia was certainly more her kind of place at night, dark and lonely. No one else was walking the streets in her area, probably at one of the more popular locations celebrating whatever they felt like.

She was about to begin singing the song she had been making for Emily again when a voice came down to hear and she looked up. To her amazement she saw someone on a roof of one of the surrounding buildings. It was a man, to her personal dislike, but at least he didn't look too bad to the eyes. She smiled back up at him "Well hello there," she said, and if one knew her they'd have recognized that she sounded a little more cheerful then usual.

"My evening has been better then I expected," she said. "But I must ask what your doing up there on the roofs?" She thought he could be some silly young rogue breaking into peoples houses from up there. From down below and with her slightly less then focused mind, she did not see the signs that he was something a bit darker like his red eyes. "And also may I ask if you know a quiet in I might get a night's rest?"

Ah, they were in a good mood. That was wonderful! It was probably a lot easier to victimise pessimists, though. They didn't expect to survive until the ends and the optimistic ones always fought until the very end. It was really tiring, fighting, chasing, and beating them down. So much effort! Maybe this one wouldn't mind if he made a small meal out of her. Maybe. "That's lovely! Good evenings are always lovely." He spoke in a cheery tone.

When he was questioned about his location, he simple looked down at where he was standing. "Predators usually aim for higher elevation compared to their prey." He said with a simple shrug. It made sense to him, getting the drop on people, in both meanings, was a very helpful assist. Either realisation would dawn on this woman or she would only question if that was a metaphor for something. He's seen it before. "Can'ts say I do, I live with my parents still."

Though he gave some answers, her mind instantly concentrated on one of them. She was not intoxicated enough to not have noticed even a minor threat. Her eyes narrowed. He probably thought she would be an easy mark or something, but her first reaction to his talk of predators or prey was to draw her Drow Scimitar. "Prey, am I?" she asked, but even as she began to take him seriously as though he would attack, her smile was creepy back up. "Predators also like to hide in the shadows of the grass below, you know."

She through off her cloak which she had been wearing, it would only get in the way. She might not have been in the right mind to fight, but she was of the right will, ready to rip him to pieces. "Right before they jump out and rip your throat out," she mused, and began to whisper a spell. Usually she would probably have summoned draconic might, but she was being careless with this one, taking him for just a rogue that was threatening her.

She used the Blink Spell and suddenly stood next to him. "Looking for a fight?" she asked, a strange silkiness to her voice, wanting very much to beat this silly person int submission before taking him home and meeting his parents, killing them all and enjoying a stay in their house. Course now she was closer she would begin to see the red eyes, and notice something was amiss and that this might be a challenging fight. Pity she had already put herself in harm's way.

Of course she would fight back. Just of course. Normally Allaer would avoid conflict but avoiding food was something he wasn't allowed to do. "You're in the open to me." He said, dropping his cheery display of affection. Now just a monotone drip of annoyance. Annoyance that would hopefully be cured by foolish actions this woman would take. Of course, his eyes only widened and his growled to himself when she vanished. Magic, what a damnable substance.

Behind. "No." Was his only response as he quickly moved his body around. One hand went to grab her wrist with her sword in it. If he grabbed it he would tighten his grip and hold her arm away from him, safety precautions. His other hand went out to punch her in the stomach. "Looking for food." Now that, was a threat.

It seemed she had angered him. Diana would have pulled back, pulled her arm away at his sudden turn, but he was too fast for her. She was not used to that kind of speed, nor that kind of strength as he turned her blade away from himself. There was a shocked expression on her face too as she saw his eyes at last. Blood red and hungry. Oh gods, what had she ran into this time?

She did not get much chance to think about it as he hit her in the stomach. She let out a scream of pain, his strength enough to make Emily's Gift move within her belly, painfully moving around her insides. She did not care what she was fighting, she just wanted to kill him. The face that was just a moment ago shocked contorted in rage and bloodlust, and with her free hand she tried to punch him in the face.

She began to whisper her incantations to herself, trying to summon Draconic Might now, but it was well too late and at this distance it would be easy to break her concentration or just smack her down to silence her. But maybe she would be lucky and get it done before he interrupted her spell. It was not a wise plan to rely on luck in the midst of a battle, though.

That hurt more than he intended it to. Maybe this person was sensitive to pain. Oh well, that wasn't his problem. After he was punched in the face, he made a hissing noise and bared his fangs. Only to notice that she tried to whisper more of her voodoo moodoo stuff. No more magic. Tightening his grip on her wrist even more, he began to twist it. As well as attempting to put his free hand over her mouth. "None of thats." He wouldn't hesitate to rip her tongue out if she wanted to cast more spells.

"Now, I'm nots going to kill you. Nor rob you." Hopefully that would calm her done, hopefully she believed him. It was nothing more than the vague truth. Killing her became an option once she began to resist his control. Why wouldn't this be easy like the non-blood drinkers did and he just went to the market. It was truly a curse. "Buts if you keep this up I will kill you. Unpleasantly too. Probably painful, quite painful. Oh, lets not forget having nobody find your body." He probably wouldn't do that, but if it came down to it he might.

The punch had barely phased him. She gasped as her arm began to get twisted too far passed the pain point, interrupting her spell, not that it mattered when his hand closed over her mouth. She screamed in rage, but it came out muffled, doubtful that even if the streets were more crowded anyone would hear her. Her free hand went on his arm, trying to pull him off. But he was strong, and she quickly found herself incapable of escaping his grasp.

And she also happened to catch sight of his fangs. No way was this a vampire. Diana had actually seen a lot of Vampires in her life, though there were only a few she could tell were vampires in those days, back in Balefire. That would be just her luck, powerful little girls, undead controlling phantoms, righteous rangers, escaped prisoners, and now a Vampire. How had she gotten so damn unlucky?

Diana was still wanting for a fight but then she heard him. He was, at this moment, cold. No playing around, and no light teasing. He had won this fight, and he would kill her there if she kept resisting. At first her eyes stayed full of wrath, but as she stared into him her eyes softened slowly into fear. She did not want to die, and there was no falseness in his threats. She let go of his arm and her blade to show herself give in, though once again after losing a fight she felt disgusted in herself when she forced herself to surrender for her own life.

She dropped her weapon. Good, that was good. She was learning that fighting was futile. He removed the hand from her mouth and gave a small light hearted smile. "That's a good girl." Still holding onto her wrist, he loosed his grip so it wasn't painful and switched the hands that were holding it. Moving over and bending down, he picked up the blade. "This is nice. Where'd you gets it?" He asked, sounding genuinely curious. He probably wouldn't use a blade like this though, not unless he actually learned how to use it.

He was merely biding his time a little, to see if the woman would freak out from the suspense. It meant that she had not truly given up yet. "So your evening has been better than expected, right? You... " She smelt of alcohol. That's what it was. He moved into step behind her, turning her arm so it was against her back, in a way to avoid pain though. "You've been drinking." That was bad, how drunk was she? She hasn't been acting stupid. Maybe only a little. Play it off like it didn't matter.

"And now you've mets a charming Sun Elf. Who you trusts enough so far that he will actually hold to his words. Maybe he'll stick to its, maybe he won't and kill you. Maybe he'll curse you into one of his own." He said this all into her ear, in an indoor voice. Now cautious about how drunk she could be.

Diana did not like the sudden change of character he displayed. It reminded her too much of Emily and her personality shifting between the average little girl and a cold and older then she looked person. Diana shivered at the thought but it seemed he wasn't just going to suddenly bite her. Instead he took her sword and began to act... Well, she wanted to say like he was being charming. "From... a drow," she said, hesitantly. "Bought it from her." He didn't need to know that that drow happened to be what she considered to be a second parent.

He seemed to be able to smell the alcohol on her now. "Not too much," she said honestly. "Enough to put myself in a better mood." Of course by now the artificial mood enhancer had worn down a good bit from the short burst of adrenaline she had gotten from battle. She did not entirely understand why he cared. Then again, for the vampires she had seen she had also talked to very few of them. Though she had always wanted to, always wanted to ask one to turn her.

Diana, having been born and raised mostly in Balefire was not a normal human. Vampires and the creatures of the night never really scared her, but they did fascinate her. She always wondered what it would be like to live on blood for eternity, to gain power and strength from it. Of course her mother made her well aware a vampire would as soon kill her as chat with her on the actual benefits of Vampiricy.

As he whispered she was left with that last sentence that made her eyes widen, and her thoughts run wild. Of course, he also threatened to kill her too. When she was thinking about what she said though, one question came to her mind. "Wait, sun elves can become Vampires?" Seemed like such a contradiction of races that on creation he should have burst into flames, but here he was.

Drow. Well wasn't as interesting as he thought it would be. Damn Drow, he didn't even want to hold this weapon anymore. Nasty underground critters. He slid the blade back into the sheath on her hip. It was hers anyway, he'd had none of that. Stealing stuff he didn't need to steal, and he said he wasn't going to rob her. He looked as he handed like he was contemplating if he should rub it clean or not of that taint. Damn Drow....

During all of that, he only nodded at what she said. Only a little bit, it hopefully wouldn't get to his head then. It wasn't a lie was it? "Why've you been in a bad mood, then?" He inquired, wondering what could be troubling this woman. Did she break a nail, or maybe a man walked out on her? It was probably a mundane concern, why did he even ask?

The next thing she said made him audibly sigh though. "Alrights alrights. Laugh or bombard me with questions if you wants. Everyone else does." His voice sounded almost melancholy. Of course not everyone else asked him countless questions or laughed, but it did happen now and again. He would let it go this time, but if she brought it up again...

Oh why was she in a bad mood? What an annoying question that would be to fully answer. "Emily," was all she said. It answered nothing for him, but it was all the answer he would get from her. He would not get the explanation of her stomach being torn open, her sleepless nights, nightmares, a new insanity spring into her and overtaking her life or the vast disappointments and pains of the last couple of weeks.

She let herself stick to the side of the conversation that more involved him. It seemed everyone was always surprised by that, and she raised an eyebrow. "I'll bring it up no more then, I have no room to laugh," she said, thinking to how easily he had physically dominated her in combat. No way she was going to make fun of his racial history. She could not help but study him a moment.

"This is my first time actually speaking to a Vampire," she admitted as she pulled her eyes back up to his. "First time I was silly enough to attack one too." It was best to start on the minor apologies now, and start getting friendlier with him while he was in the mood for it. "Sorry. You... startled me is all." Of course, that was a lie. She was not startled so much as she was stirred in her lust for violence. But she did not want to word it like that.

"Who's..." He said before dropping the subject. When a female only said one word, or nothing at all, they didn't want to talk about it. Otherwise he would've gotten a big rant by now about her life's problems. Can't say he wasn't curious now, though. Wonder if he'd be able to weed it out of her in the future. Just what would it take though.

Well, that was a good thing. She dropped what he didn't want to hear about too. What a nice lady this person was turning out to be. "Thank you, I appreciate it." He said and wondered if she was still on edge. No room to laugh, she knew she wasn't in control but was expecting to be punished for acting out of line, even if given permission.

First time speaking to a vampire, was it? "Ha, don't worry. Nots all of them are as awesome as I am." He said with a small smirk playing across his face. And sorry? Sorry for defending herself? "Whatever. Any questions you have before I feasts on your jugular?" He asked, sort of expecting her to ask if it's going to hurt or something like that.

He was a bit full of himself, but she could stand it for now. Especially once he had opened the flood gates. Diana had a large number of questions she had always wanted to ask a vampire. If he was going to bite her anyway, she might as well start getting those childhood questions out of the way. But she had to wonder where she would start, what was most pressing on her mind, what did she most want to know?

"Are vampires really immortal as long as they stay out of the sun and regularly drink blood?" she asked. Immortality was a great draw to her, of course it was going to be her first question. "How often do you have to drink blood?" There was a point already there were Diana went from just a little curious to questioning him like some sort of fan finally getting to hear everything she'd ever wanted to know. "What are all the benefits to being a vampire?"

The questions kept coming to her mind and so she just kept asking them until she could think of no more or until she was forcefully silenced. "Any other weaknesses outside of sunlight? What does it feel like when you first wake up as a vampire? How delicious does the blood taste?" The first questions had been somewhat reasonable, but as she went on she seemed to be asking about every little aspect of life as a vampire, and it would become obvious she was more then a little interested in vampiricy.
