Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Nezramus looked at the three paladin-wannabes draw their blades, he rolled his eyes and did the same, raising his buckler in front of him with his right arm and leveling his blade for a thrust with his left. One of them took a step forward, "Tell us where your master is undead, or else we'll destroy you where you stand!" The others shouted back at him, informing him that most undead couldn't talk, which was true for the most part, though he was a special undead, "I can talk fine, I am Nezramus and I refuse to tell some kids about where I rest my undead bones... now shut up and die!" He charged forward, smashing his shield into the face of the one who stepped forward, pivoting on his heel into a spin for a slash across the man to the left of him's throat, a spray of blood shooting from it as he fell to the ground trying to hold it in.

Nezramus smirked as he turned to the two left, one of the had a bloody and broken nose now while the other pulled out his greatsword. The one with the bloody broken nose held his own longsword and pointed it at Nezramus, he shrugged, these kids didn't know how to fight and the little damage he caused by attacking their vitals would give his father new corpses to experiment with. He let the man with the greatsword attack first, he watched the wide swing with slight amusement, he rushed towards the greatsword and flung his shield against it, the steel rim ringing as the man dropped his greatsword, he had killed the strike before it could become to powerful and he had disarmed him through the powerful rebound of steel on steel.

He smiled until he felt the painful sting for a blade sinking into his leg, blood dripping out as the one with a longsword looks up to him with fear in his eye, "Th-there's more of us! We'll get you people for what you did in Cascadia!" He rolled his eyes and thrust his own longsword into his chest, twisting the handle and ripping outward, sending a large torrent of blood onto the ground. He pulled the longsword out of his leg and limped over to the one trying to crawl away as he walked, pointless. He thrust his longsword through his back, pinning him to the ground, he took his shield and beat the back of his skull with the steel rim until blood flowed freely, he was good as dead. He shuttered as he put a hand on his leg, "Dark power, heal my wounds and restore my undead strength." Black lightning shot from his hand into the wound, stitching up undead flesh and healing him enough to walk normally, good enough. Though now he needed to hunt down more paladins, he needed to make sure they didn't find the secret entrance. He walked on, looking for more of his enemies.

Erus walked the ruins searching for creatures that he could slay for food. The ruins had actually become a commonplace for him, almost like home. There were hardly ever any disturbances and there was always something to eat. Whether it be a rabbit, a hog, or even just a couple of grasshoppers. Today, however, he was having a harder time. He'd loomed around this beautiful place for weeks now, never pondering hunger. Anyone who visited was often met by him and sometimes killed, then eaten, for he had no problem consuming the flesh of humans. After all, they were who burned down his tribe long ago.

Erus sat down and laid his back against a giant stone pillar. He reminisced about the times he had with his high elf tribe, even though he himself was a wood elf. They accepted him. His adopted father Aurel, had found him as a baby, he was the tribal leader. He knew the Erus would once become a great man, so he took Erus home. The elven leaders lived up in the trees so they could study in peace. Aurel studied the wind, Lomid was water, Koal was fire, and Lokom, was darkness and death. Erus was around Lokom when he was not home. He was like a second father and death had always intrigued him. When the humans came Erus was almost killed. He was all that was left of the tribe aside from the elders who stayed under ground. The elders took him under cursed him with something that made him immortal, never aging. They believed he was an omen from the start.

Erus awoke and looked at a nearby sun dial. He had slept for five hours and awoke from some sort of metal clanking sound. He climbed the pillar he had once laid upon and looked over to where the sound had originated. One, two, three men and... an undead? He had heard one of the men say, but had to see for himself. He had never seen an undead in his travels and believed they were just stories until now. Two of the men were down on the ground, one dead, one trying to crawl away, and one remained up, horror stricken. If this man is in fact undead, how does he move so fast? I must know.... Erus thought as the last man fell to the ground dead. The supposed undead was injured with a blade he'd just just pulled out of his leg. He limped over to the man that crawled away and stabbed him. All three dead... just like that. Erus jumped onto another ruin that was above and to the right of the creature that was now healing his leg.

Impressive, Erus said as he jumped from the pillar to directly in front of the undead, Erus, Erus Wyndbeam. I don't believe I have met your acquaintance. Does thou have a name? He grinned and extended his hand outward offering to help him up. Erus's tattoo's had extended up and down his arms, the masking around his eyes that he was cursed with extended down his face, ending at his chin.

He smirked at the elf, "Nezramus." He ignored the hand and stood up, his dark magic spell would inflict injury to the living, though it patched him up well enough. He took his blade, flicking blood off of it before sheathing it, he looked at the elf, he was greeting him as if he was a friend... stupid breathers didn't know how to properly fear undead. He growled as he crouched to inspect the ground, his little scuffle had destroyed most of the prints on the ground, tracking them would be harder.

He gave the elf a stern look, "Look here boy, I've got people to kill and bodies to collect. I don't have time for pleasantries. I'm on a bit of a mission to exterminate a paladin and his stupid squires, blasted paladin wannabes, before they can kill me. No I suggest you either move aside or draw blades, I've got a mission to do." He gripped his shield in his right hand as his left hand strayed to his blade's hilt, he didn't want to kill this breather, it would waste time, time he could spend killing paladins. He readied himself to fight, if the man wouldn't move aside, he'd force his way through.

The zombie got up by himself refusing to take Erus's hand, this kind of pissed him off. Regardless of that fact that Erus was evil, he still believed in manners. If there is help, take it. However, he shrugged it off. The zombie said that his name was Nezramus. Merry met. Erus smirked at the rude zombie. It picked up its blade causing Erus to automatically reach for his sword, but it just flicked some blood off of it. It crouched down and growled for an unknown reason, but Erus went with it.

He got up and told Erus to move or draw blades, and that he had a mission to do. However Erus stayed in his position fearing nothing, man or beast. Erus was not sure of this thing though, it was dead but so fast. How could he take down three men that specialized in evil beings such as this. I will not move for I believe that your mission is not as important as you believe. If it is, I will gladly assist you, for these paladins you have just slain have visited these ruins often. They are quite frankly disturbing my peace. Please sit, eat with me, I've made somewhat of a home out these ruins. Erus had to be careful, the undead was poised for battle.

Erus was ready for anything with his array of electricity. His hand also lain on the hilt of a sword that has slain many. If this monster-like thing attacked, he would waste no time disposing of it. Although he did quite enjoy his brutality, he would also make an interesting ally.

He gave the man a quick look, he seemed capable enough, he wasn't backing down even after know he killed three squires training to be paladins, "I'll take your help, though I no longer eat or sleep. If you help me, you can have any of the food the paladin and his squires have... even if it's their flesh of some of them. I just want their bodies for my father, he needs more bodies for his experiments and I bet he's wondering how a 'pure' paladin body would work when infused with his dark magic." He chuckled at the thought, the paladin's body would make a decent enough zombie.

He moved to walk around him, "Let's get the hunt going, from what I can tell from what little of the tracks that I hadn't ruined from the fight is that about... ten people, I'm guessing high here to be wary, have come through and these three were here as a scouting party, since their own foot prints farther back indicate walking in a large circle... so we just head towards the center and start the killing." He smiled as he walked around the man, drawing his blade as he walked, he needed to be ready at any time, they could meet some men before that or there could be more then ten since others could have come in using a different path. Either way, he was going to start the slaughter now.

I am perfectly fine with not sleeping, Erus looked the zombie in the eye. I will give a friendly warning though. If betrayal does become a part of this. I will gladly smite thee and you to oblivion. I would expect the same from you. Now lets get moving. Like you said the hunt is on. Erus began walking the path of footsteps when a glimmer of light moved across his vision. He thought it was just the sword of the zombie moving back and forth when seven men came out of the trees. Two were equipped with bows, three with sword and sheild, and two with quarterstaves.

This is sure to be an interesting battle my friend. Erus laughed and turned toward Nezramus. Pick targets, I will take the bowmen and the mages. You take the swordsmen. Erus's tattoo's had completely enveloped his body. The intricate tattoo's that ended in lightning shaped designs were more visual than his actual skin. Erus raised his arm and a bolt lightning struck one archer and blinded the other. The swordsmen were already charging at Nez. If they were up for reasoning, Erus was not going to give them that chance. Erus charged and the men with quarterstaves, one happened not to be a mage. The other however had already raised an angelic being who rushed back at Erus. He electrified his weapon and swung downward at the celestial thing who in return raised its hand and caught the sword. It fell to the ground paralyzed by electricity but not dead. Erus had to get to the mage that was now on top of a pillar, but if he moved, the recovered archer would get him.

Erus pondered. A sword raised in one hand, and the other hand raised at the archer threatening another strike. Both mage and archer did not move. The mage seemed to be focused on healing the celestial being at the moment. Erus reacted before the angelic creature got up and sent his blade through the back of the its head. He then picked up the sword and ran at the archer. He knew the mage would need time to cast another being, so he took advantage of the moment. The quarterstaff fighter also charged in the direction of the archer. He was going to meet Erus there. The bowman shot. A holy arrow pierced Erus's hand. He screamed and jabbed his sword into the ground. He then lifted the now free hand and commanded lightning to strike in between the bowman and the other paladin who now stood a mere two feet away from him. Instantly both became ash and Erus fell to his knees. He had enough strength to lift his arm one more time in the direction of the mage. Strike.. He commanded, then passed out from exhaustion. A tiny bolt of lightning, one that could not kill a man but could make him jump, struck the mage. He jumped in pain and fell to his death.

He smirked, one of the swordsmen charging him was the paladin, clad in chainmail, he had long blonde hair and his blade even had a holy enhancement... to obvious. The other two waved their blades around like mad men, their shields hanging at their sides, didn't the paladin train these men... or were the archers and mages not his squires, oh well, didn't matter. He side stepped the paladin's thrust, throwing up his shield to block, he felt the sting of the other blade nicking his injured leg, blasted breathers. He pushed his shield forward, pushing back one of the squires as he weaved his blade around the shield, letting out a quick thrust to take the squire that had injured him in the throat, he ripped it out to the side, letting the blood spray over the paladin's eyes.

The paladin yelled in frustration as he tried to wipe away the blood from his face, allowing Nez to single out his final squire, he parried the blade with his longsword and thrust his shield forward, knocking the wind out of him as he's forced to take a step back, he took his longsword and slashed straight down at his collar bone, cleaving deeply into his body, stopping just above the heart. He looked as the paladin yelled in fury, just getting the blood out of his eyes, he charged Nez screaming, "Die you evil beast! Die and make me famous!" Nez raised an eyebrow, famous? He was just reborn a little more then a week ago, he wasn't famous yet. He blocked the sword with his shield and slammed his side into his side, even if he couldn't break the chainmail he could still break his bones underneath it.

Their battle seemed to take hours as their blades weaved in and out, striking out at each other. Blades flashed and blood was spilled, the paladin had several small cuts on his legs and a single cut on his cheek, while Nez was in much worse shape, he had been cut several times and the holy enchantment had weakened him to much, he didn't have much strength left, he would need everything for his next strike. He thrust out his blade, watching as the paladin knocked it to the side, expecting to only parry it, though Nez had his trap set, he let the blade slip from his hands as he moved forward, whipping his shield up into the man's temple. He felt the contact and chuckled as he fell to the ground, stunned, Nez didn't waste a moment, he kicked the longsword from the man and started to use the steel rim of his shield to beat him to death, keeping a knee on the man's arm that had his shield. He looked down at the grisly scene, he smirked as he went to retrieve his weapon, placing his hand on his stomach, "Dark Power, Heal me." The black lightning once more coursing through his veins, sealing up the minor wounds and stopping the pain of the holy magic. He turned to see how his ally had done, if he was still alive he would be a worthwhile ally.

Erus opened his eyes, the scene that laid before him was a bloody massacre. Nezramus was healing himself, he looked like he had a pretty hard battle. Erus slowly raised from the ground and limped over to Nezramus. I am sorry I could not assist you friend. How bad were you injured? He said unknowingly. Erus felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. He grabbed for it and found an arrow stuck there with a holy enchanment, draining his power. He must have not noticed it go through his hand and hit his shoulder. The adrenaline was quite strong, especially to have not felt something like this. He grabbed the arrow and ripped it out violently then threw it on the ground. Feel better already. He chuckled.

Corpses were all over the place. Erus walked around and gathered each of the squires and piled them up. You said you only needed the paladins right? If so I will smite this pile and they will become untraceable ash. Erus said as he walked to the nearby mage that had broken his neck from the fall. He rolled him over and crouched beside him. You put up a good fight... He thought to himself. Now feel my wrath! A bolt of lightning came down with a deafening clap. The body was no more. Anything that was left was scattered across the ruins. Food for the animals. He then walked over to the pile of dead squires, raised his hand, and struck them. Nothing but ash.

Now, what exactly is your mission. What does your fatherplan on doing with these paladins once he... or if he can I should say... resurrects them? Erus said as he sat down next to Nezramus, because I know if we're hit like that again we're screwed.... A creature ran by and Erus elecrified him then began eating, waiting for an answer.

His ally was in bad shape, perfect, that meant he was in no shape to betray him, though it was odd that he was so polite... it annoyed him, "I'm fine, the paladin had an enchantment on his blade... filthy holy enchantments." He spat on the paladin's corpse, it would be a pain to drag it back to his father's undead, though worth it when he delivers a fresh corpse. He shrugged as he heard the man ask what he was going to do, "Definitely not going to resurrect him, most likely zombify or maybe it will go through the same process that made me. As for new paladins coming in... yeah, they'll be coming in after a few days looking for the ones who came here before them. They'll find no trace though, the tracks will have been destroyed by then and I'll hunt them as I did their allies, taking them down little by little, fighting them in packs of twos and threes if I can." He was confident enough about killing them, he would do what he must do, death couldn't stop the undead.

He looked back at his ally as he grabbed the paladin's legs, "I must go now Erus, I have a corpse to deliver... and I suggest you leave the area, once my father fixes me up, I'll be back on the prowl, and to be honest, you would make a great specimen. Just be glad that I like you, so be sneaky if you're going to stay around here, fighting you would more dangerous then fighting paladins." He picked the man up and threw him onto his shoulder, walking off towards his father's territory and the undead servants that would undoubtedly be around, it would only be an hour's walk. Though he had all the time in the world, he needed to take it easy for a while anyway, his wounds needed to heal.

Erus laughed at the thought of leaving over a bunch of mortals. Oh, my friend, you must not know me at all. Then again, I suppose we have not known each other as long as it seems we have. Erus stood up and summoned electricity to his hands. You see when I was a young man many years ago, and yes I do mean MANY years ago, I am not the teenager I look to be. I was cursed by the elders of the village. I do not know what it was, but it has something to do with these tattoo's that fluctuate depending on my stress levels. It also gave me the ability to command lightning. Erus clapped his electrified hands together and struck a tree in half. I am more than capable of handling a couple of holymen. I will dust your tracks until you get to the woods, make haste.

Erus sat down and began eating more to help the healing process. I wonder if this thing really trusts me. It's quite unusual seeing as how many people I have murdered. Then again.. he's a zombie, I am sure he has done just as much if not more. Erus thought to himself. Erus got up after half an hour and dusted his prints, as soon as he finished, he got on the top of a pillar again and rested until a herd of holymen came by. You there! A leading paladin exclaimed. Have you seen an undead warrior anywhere near. Speak now or die. We are more than capable of telling if you're lying. Erus smiled and jumped down to the paladin, looked into his eyes and read his mind. Those scouts said there were bodies all over the place here. Where are they?

Erus chuckled as he moved his hair out of his face revealing his tattoos. Oh, my friend you have no clue. Erus grabbed the hilt of his sword and violently pulled it out of the sheath, butting the paladin in the chin. He fell to the ground and Erus electrified his weapon and swiped a squire's neck. A squire grabbed Erus and held him by his neck while the paladin approach with a sword pointing at him. I will ask you one more, where is the zombie? No answer? Fine with me. Erus felt the blade enter his side. Rage filled his heart, his eyes turned blood red, his iris's were golden, and the tattoo's completely covered his skin. Oh, this will be fun!Erus grabbed the sword he was stabbed with and pushed it into the squire, then he grabbed the paladin and zapped him with a bolt of electricity. The squire was still alive, crying for help. Erus pulled the sword out of his body, causing the squire to hemorrhage and pass out. Is that the best you can do? Then he felt the swords holy enchantment strike his heart. He fell to the ground, inches from death.

He walked for only for an hour before seeing some odd flash of white in the distance to his left... a calling signal. There was more coming, more bodies to serve his father, he started back towards Erus, he would probably need his help, he dropped the paladin and began his walk back, there was more hunting to do. He arrived in another hour, he looked at the seen, a four paladins were guarding a tied up corpse... no, it was Erus, his breathing was just shallow, he could barely see his chest move when he breathed. He cursed his luck, this was terrible, now he'd have to save him or else he'd lose valuable specimens! He looked down at his feet, keeping behind the pillars to stay out of sight, he inspected the ground, at least ten men had walked past and split up into two groups of five, all in full plate, all searching for him.

He looked back as the paladins talk about something... probably who was going to watch him. These four weren't wearing plate armor... probably squires training to become paladins. He waited until one was forced to sit near Erus, he smirked, the others were unpacking items and setting up a camp, perfect. He crouched low, drawing his sword as he crept closer... and closer... until he was within striking distance of the man sitting down. He leaped forward, impaling the man through the back, his yowl of pain barely escaping his mouth before it filled with blood. He flicked his sword out of it and shield bashed another before he could pull out a weapon, flicking his blade upward and taking out the throat of another. He turned to the one he had staggered with his shield and drove the point of his sword into his gut, ripping it to the side. He smiled as the last one drew his sword, he was visibly shaking as he spoke some odd words... must be holy magic. His blade started to glow and it shot a beam of light straight up... worse, it was a call signal, the paladins were going to be rushing towards here any minute now. He rushed forward and knocked away the sword with his shield, bringing his sword up he thrust it through the bottom of his jaw up through his brain and out of the back of his head.

Nez kicked the body off his blade and flicked off the blood, walking over to Erus he cut the bonds and inspected him. The paladins had healed his wounds a bit and bandaged him up, he'd live... for now. He sheathed his sword and picked him up and began his run, he'd have to leave the city for a while... maybe he could wander with Erus, it would be interesting and he could perhaps get him to help out father with his experiments, those tattoos could reveal something interesting... oh well, until then, he simply ran.

Erus could feel and hear his heart pumping. He slowly regained consciousness and realized he was jumping up and down over and over. All he could see was feet moving back and forth. He automatically assumed it was a paladin and stayed calm for a while, then out of no where hit its leg, setting him free. Got off the ground slowly, expecting pain, but he felt nothing. The paladin did a good job mending some of the wounds even though some of the lightning burns were deep. He took a step forward, trying to look at the paladin, but only saw his new friend Nezramus. You? You saved me? I would have never shown that pity... Though I am grateful. Lets move, I'm assuming the Paladins will be here soon. Erus took a dash, wasting no time. The paladins trailed behind, beams of light flew past the evil duo.

Erus saw the corpse that was slain before and thought quickly. A bolt of light struck a hug tree that they had ran past. It fell on two squires. The rest would have to climb over it. He quickly snatched up the body as he ran past it. It seemed as if they had been running for days, but it had only been an hour or two. Paladins appeared in front of them, Erus threw his sword and impaled the first guy then grasped his sword and violently ripped out of the first mans body leading into the second guy, cutting him in two. Now there were flashes of holy light everywhere. One answer, lead them into water. If they are dumb enough to follow. We have to speed up, leave us more distance! Erus sped up, making sure not to leave Nezramus behind. He noticed a nearby lake. This was his chance. He ran across the lake and turned around. The paladins and squires stepped into the water, eventually most of the mass was in the lake. They almost reached Erus and Nezramus when Erus lifted his electrified sword and jabbed it into the water, there was a huge flash of light, then all you could see were the backs of the paladins and squires who were too stupid to stay out of the water. It was time to move again.

The paladins were pretty far behind so Erus decided to stop. How far away is this place exactly? Erus pulled out his harp and played the song of his people. He hummed and began to sing quietly while listening for Nezramus's answer.
