Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It wasn’t that hard to think of the last time that she had visited this ruined city. She could remember it quite clearly, actually. The demon that she had met here before, with all those blades sticking out of his body... it was very amazing to see somebody live through that, but if it weren’t for her, he would probably still look that way today.

She was sure glad to not have to see him again, though. It seemed to be nothing but conflict with him. Last time she saw him, his demon side surfaced, and he attacked her out of nowhere, seeming to test out certain theories that they were arguing about at the time.

Her thoughts were brought back to the moment when she heard voices nearby. It actually sounded like a family of voices, all screaming about their child being hurt by some creature...

Having a very light heart, Lyvian rushed over to where she heard the family, and found them all circled around a little boy. He only looked to be about ten years old, the poor thing. His legs were all chewed up, and his arms were all clawed. Right away, she was frightened for the boy. It seemed to be the mother that was the one to notice she was standing nearby, watching. She stood up, and rushed over with her hands out, begging the elf, Please, miss, please! My son! He was attacked by something in the forest! He was just out hunting for us, for food, and he came back looking like this! Please! You must help him!

Lucky for her, she was actually a healer. She walked over to the boy calmly, and started talking to him gently, making sure that he was actually still alive and still awake. Without hesitation, she started healing the worst of the wounds, placing both of her hands over each wound as she whispered the incantations. The wounds would glow a soft blue when the spells activated, and then they slowly faded back to their normal colours after the wound closed. Lyvian had to save the boy from bleeding to death first, and then she would have to go back and properly heal his wounds.

It took quite a bit of energy for her to just close up the wounds on his legs, they were so horrible. However, with a bit of resting to regain her energy to complete healing the boy, she was able to restore the boy’s energy as well within a matter of an hour. This was the first time that she treated a human boy with such extensive injuries, but Lyvian was very happy with herself. The more experience she had, the better treatments and cures she could offer in the future.

Seele deposited the corpses in the rubbish heap with a glower, the bloody body tumbling down the pile of rubble and trash. There was always another paragon of virtue in the ruins of Taras that seemed the only path to righteousness was interfering with the elf's operations. Usually, the sorcerer's dark powers were sufficient to halt any opposition before they struck, but this man had been a mage as well. His fireball had blown apart one of the scaffolding structures the elf owned, as well as burning several of his slaves and guards before the elf could retaliate. The path of destruction this one measly mortal had carved through the construction site would cost Seele days of profit, and that was just to repair the property damages. Finding a healer for his men and slaves would be more difficult.

The body disposed of, Seele walked towards one of the entrances of the demolished metropolis, golden eyes glimmering. Medical tents had sprung up all around the gates to the city, where the guards of the Taras Rebuilding Committee were the thickest and the nights were the safest. Few of the healers dared to travel further into the city, and the few that offered such services charged such exorbitant prices that they would barely be worth the cost. Seele was currently the leader of a de facto slaving empire after staging a bloody coup against its former owner, Master Cronally. The elf did not look like a slaver. So thin and gaunt he almost appeared skeletal, his flesh was pale enough to be called white. His eyes were pools of liquid gold, with silvery hair that shimmered in the sunlight and brushed his shoulders. He wore a wide-brimmed hat to shade his sensitive skin, as well as a tattered velvet cloak that hid his frame from his neck to the street. He was tall as well, towering over many of the other pedestrians in the streets of Taras. The pickpockets and cutpurses that thrived in the city had never tried to steal from the dangerous-looking sorcerer, at least not more than once.

The sorcerer's dark thoughts were interrupted by the mewling of a sheep, a woman crying out about her wounded son. Seele turned towards the commotion with a snarl, his eyes flashing with irritation. The loss of so much money had put the elf in a vile mood, and perhaps culling this bleating mother and child would assuage his ire. His expression changed to one of interest as a girl walked over to the boy, her hands glowing with a holy aura as she reached out towards his grievous wounds. Seele halted instantly, stepping into the shadows of a nearby wall to watch the healing take place. Although it took her almost an hour, the boy's body was completely mended, his injuries reduced to faint scars. What have we here...? Seele's face split into a broad grin. A good Samaritan would be much cheaper than one of the pompous healers at the city gates.

The elf raised both hands to his face,c ompletely covering his features with his thin fingers, silently casting a spell. Alter Self. When he lowered his hands a stranger was staring out from under the hat. His eyes had been changed to a more common shade of blue, with a rosy complexion and round cheeks. A day's worth of stubble darkened his tanned cheeks, and his hair was much shorter and a dirty brown color. His true identity handily disguised, Seele rushed out of the shadows, his face etched with a carefully feigned expression of worry. ”Dearest healer! I have seen your gift with these two eyes! You must help me as well! There was an accident at my construction site, and I fear many of my coworkers could die!” Seele's voice rang with false sincerity, internally gloating over the prospect of minimizing his losses. "Please! Follow me!"

She stood back up, brushed off her clothing, and stretched out her muscles. She found that it was a bit hard on the body to kneel for about an hour. The family thanked her and paid her for her services but wished for her to stay longer to make sure the boy was okay. Then, something made her jump. Like an explosion of other life in the world.

She looked around to find a very worried man rushing toward her. She hoped that he was the only one who had seen her heal the boy. “Oh!” she responded with a bit of surprise. “How far is your construction site?” she asked, following him without hesitation. He seemed like a decent person who cared greatly for his workers, so she wanted to see if she could help. “What kind of accident? What happened?” she asked, just trying to get information to see the magnitude of how many people she would have to help. She was not at her top performance right now, from having to heal that boy, but she would always try. After all, she was not able to turn down somebody that asked for help.

“I must warn you though, I may not be able to save them all. I can only heal so much at a time.” She told him, hoping that it wouldn’t make him change his mind. She wanted to help because she wanted the experience, but at the same time, her conscience would not allow her to walk away from somebody in need... no matter their alignment.

Seele barely managed to keep a triumphant grin from his face. This healer was as idiotic as she was idealistic... the perfect pawn. Careful to keep an expression of concern on the feigned features, Seele began to rush off towards the construction site, shouting his replies to her questions over his shoulder. "It's six blocks from here! There was an accident with the magical mortar mixer we bought a week ago! It exploded for some reason, and burnt several workers and tore into others with shrapnel!" In actuality, the 'paragon] who had attacked the site had managed to strike one of their mortar basins with a fireball spell, superheating the metal and causing it to explode across the construction zone. At least three slaves had been severely burned by the explosion, and two of his guards had enough shrapnel embedded in their chest that he doubted they had lived this long.

Within a few minutes he had led the trusting healer into the construction zone. Alyx looked up from his desk at the pair, holding up a hand to stop the enforcers from intercepting them when he recognized his master's attire, if not his face. The elf's second-in-command had learned that Seele was quite fond of manipulating the people of Taras to uniwttingly doing his bidding, and had standing instructions to not interfere with his plots.

Seele led the healer to the makeshift infirmary they had set up for the injured slaves and guards. All five of the injured men were unconscious, and the sorcerer's cursory examination suggested that one of his guards had actually perished in the attack. The first slave had a deep burn up the length of his left leg, white bone showing through the charred, smoking flesh. Another slave had deep burns across his chest and forearms, although he had managed to block the flames from licking at his face. The last worker had not been so lucky; his face was a ruined mess, his cheeks cracked and blistered, blood oozing from his lips and nose. The guard's injuries were less obvious, but by no means less deadly. The guard that was still drawing in breath had a multitude of lacerations across his chest. His shirt had been removed, and blood was streaming over his bare ribs to puddle in the makeshift cot. The other guard was clearly deceased; one piece of shrapnel was sticking out of his jugular, and he had probably expired within minutes of the injury.

Seele shook his head in mock sadness, throwing a piece of fabric over the deceased man's body. Internally, he was raging at the damage the attack had dealt to not only his workers, but also his reputation and construction. "Can you help them please, miss? It would take too long for me to fetch healers from the outskirts of Taras... You're our best hope at saving them."

Lyvian followed the man without question, appreciating his prompt responses to her own questions. She found it a bit odd that the man was nearly stopped from entering his own construction site, but thought nothing of it because they were let through within seconds. She covered her nose and mouth as they neared the workers that were harmed in the incident. She certainly did not enjoy the stench of burning flesh.

She nodded to him when he asked if she could help them. “Right away, of course.” She said quietly, removing her hand from her face when she spoke, and then swiftly stepped toward the group, helping the ones with head and/or chest injuries first. She wasn’t sure if she had ever dealt with such extensive injuries before, but she wasn’t about to complain. The more experience she got, the better.

From all the running to get here, it took her a bit to get to each person, but she made sure to stop all excessive bleeding on all of them before worrying about actually closing up the wounds, and actually healing them. It took a lot of energy out of her to help these people. She hadn’t even looked around to see what kind of place she was in yet. Her mind was so focussed on helping these people, that it didn’t cross her mind to make sure that she was actually safe.

She had a bad feeling in the back of her mind, but she took that bad feeling as the feeling that she got when she was feeling really drained from healing so much at one time. She had to slow down for a while, and a couple of times, she had to stop completely to make sure that she wouldn’t fall asleep. If she used too much of her energy, she’d just collapse and fall asleep, not waking up until her body has decided that she had enough energy again. A lot of things could happen while she was asleep...

((OOC: You're fine! I understand real life comes before Imythess! Don't worry about taking a while to post!))

Seele watched as the woman bent over the first injured man, quickly evaluating his wounds and beginning the healing process. Such life-giving arts had always intrigued him, although he could not use them himself. His flesh had been corrupted from centuries of manipulating unholy and negative energy; now it was so saturated with dark power that even the most basic healing spells were beyond his grasp. He had remedied this dilemma by manipulating dark energy in order to heal his own wounds, but the method was ineffective on individuals who had not been corrupted with shadow sorcery as he had. The healer's first order of business was stopping the bleeding, which she managed quickly. Some of the color returned to the worker's faces as she managed to stop the worst of the injury, which gave her more time to work on completely mending the gashes in the flesh.

"What have we here?" Seele turned to see Alyx standing behind him, a small, contemptuous smile on the man's thin face. He had a meticulously groomed goatee and hair slicked back from a widow's peak, with green, intelligent eyes flashing behind his spectacles. The man had been a part of the slaving empire before Seele's coup, and his loyalty had helped the sorcerer ensure that the takeover went smoothly. At the moment he held a clipboard and a quill, although he was not currently taking notes. His eyes went to the kneeling healer, one eyebrow raised in an obviously inquisitive manner.

The elf gestured, and the two of them walked a small ways from the healing-in-process. Once they were out of earshot Seele began to whisper quietly to his assistant, his transformed blue eyes gleaming with a malevolence that seemed out of place in his friendly face. "A healer, like I said... but so far as I can tell, one who is unassociated with the Committee." The Taras Rebuilding Committee was the group of benefactors who had made the reconstruction of the once-grand metropolis their main priority. The former owner of the slaving empire, an obese noble named Cronally, had been one of the members of the board, and from his notes Seele knew more about their intentions than most citizens of the city. "A sweet little thing, isn't she?"

Alyx pushed his spectacles back off of the bridge of his nose, rubbing his sinuses with two fingers. "That's good. Transferring new slaves to this location would have been troublesome; keeping these alive will keep our budget in the appropriate margins for this month." He shook his head, clicking his tongue in a disappointed manner. The man was in charge of most of the financial aspects of the enterprise and was always disappointed when unexpected costs emerged.

The disguised elf folded his arms, turning back to the working woman with a contemplative stare. "Tell me... What are the current prices on slaves skilled as healers? I imagine they sell for quite an... exorbitant amount."

The human also turned to look at the healer, who had begun to work on closing the injuries. Her skill seemed sufficient enough that none of the men would perish in the attack. "I see... You are correct. Not only do they fetch a high price, keeping one on-site might prove beneficial to our progress. No more setbacks in the case of accidents or attacks."

"My thoughts exactly." Seele nodded to his lieutenant and walked back towards the makeshift healing area. The woman's strength seemed to be flagging, but she was still determinedly working on fixing the men's injuries. The sorcerer watched without commenting, unwilling to distract her from her work. At the same time Alyx walked towards several of the enforcers and sent them running to a different section of the construction site.

[[thank you!]]

Lyvian worked away, helping each one as much as she could. She knew she wouldn’t be able to finish up everyone, but she was at least able to help one of them, which ended up being one of the guards. He wasn’t completely healed, but any bleeding was stopped, and any wounds and burns were closed up so that they wouldn’t get infected. His body would have to take care of the rest.

With the one that had exposed bone, she had to quickly mix together one of her healing powders so that she could take a break from using magic. Since she was not able to create skin where there is none, the boy would have to deal with waiting for the skin to regenerate itself. This powder, which turned out to look and feel like blue sand, would prevent infection and act as a pain killer. She applied it carefully; glad to see that the boy was feeling much better already. Mixing and applying the powder took her about ten minutes, so it didn’t waste much time at all.

She looked around, and saw the man standing there, watching her. “Do you have a water source here for drinking?” she asked him, appearing to be very thirsty. She was thinking more about the people she was helping right now, wanting them to have some water to wet their whistles, and perhaps help them feel better as well. They seemed to be breathing through their mouths a lot from being in so much pain from the incident, so she was sure that they’d appreciate it. “Could you get them some water, please?” she asked, moving around on the ground to get herself more comfortable while she waited. She stretched out her muscles, breathing deeply so that she could regain some of her strength. She felt like if she casted one more spell too soon, then she’d collapse and fall asleep, not to wake up until her body felt like it had enough energy again.

Seele watched the healer at work, fighting the temptation not to grin widely. He had believed this day would be a disaster at first, but now his pessimism was proving to be incorrect. He had a legitimate healer now, whether or not she realized it yet. She moved from patient to patient, and although she was clearly worried for the men it was not because of her own inexperience, but rather the severity of their injuries. If she was truly as trusting and innocent as she first appeared the woman would soon be in for a shock. The slaver did not plan on allowing her to leave the construction area of her volition… If she attempted to stop him he would be forced to enforce his will with his magic. He had seen the benefits of owning a skilled healer first hand and he did not plan on missing this opportunity.

When the woman asked for water Seele flicked a finger at the nearest enforcers. The men ran to a well on the opposite side of the settlement and quickly drew up a bucket of liquid, splashing some of the refreshment on the ground in their haste to return to the makeshift hospital. The sorcerer grabbed a cup from a nearby workstation, filling it to the brim as he murmured to the guards and instructed them to ladle the water into the injured men’s mouths. Only after they had begun to follow his instructions did he turn back to the healer, who was sprawled out on the ground and stretching.

”You are a very skilled healer, mistress.” Seele made sure to adopt a deferential tone once again, his voice more befitting of a construction worker than an individual in charge of a massive slaving empire. He knelt down next to the woman, holding out the cup with both hands and smiling in an amiable manner. ”How did you learn such a difficult art?” The elf knew enough about human anatomy that her magic and herbalism had already saved all of the injured men. It might take months for them to heal fully, but their lives were no longer in danger.

She smiled widely when he complimented her healing abilities. “Thank you very much.” She said, closing her eyes for a moment, opening them again to see he was knelt beside her now with a cup of water for her. She sat up, folding her wings back up, and then turned to the man to accept the water. She nodded to him in appreciation for the water, and took a couple sips. She looked around at the men, seeing that they were good to go now, and then looked back at the man she was talking to.

“Oh, I’ve been learning these skills all of my life. I grew up thinking that this world was a wonderful, peaceful place. When I realised that it wasn’t, all I wanted to do was try to make it better.” She explained to him, appreciating the fact that he understood that it was not an easy thing to do. “I’ve learned quite a lot so far, but I’ve still got a long way to go. One day, I’d like to be what they call an Apostle of Serenity. I think it’s a reasonable goal. All I ever want to do is help others, and one day I also hope to build an infirmary in this village here. Since it’s being rebuilt, I’m sure they could make good use of a skilled healer. I’d be living a good life, then, too.” She smiled, taking bigger sips of the water until there was one sip left.

She stood up, finally, straightening out her clothing. “I never caught your name...” she pointed out, holding out a hand to shake for introductions once she was done with dusting herself off and straightening out her clothing. “I’m Lyvian.” She said, drinking the last sip of water as she waited for his response.

Seele listened to her story without his expression changing in the least, although internally he was mocking her for her naivety. Make the world better? Was this woman truly so innocent and inexperienced that she believed such a thing was possible? The sorcerer need only to glance around to be reminded of the corruption that pervaded his surroundings. Seele had possessed a powerful curse for almost as long as he could remember, a punishment from a long-forgotten god as revenge for the ruin the elf had wrecked upon his homeland. His golden eyes were forever forced to view the world as if it were in the throes of death. When he looked up he saw the sky as red and hazy, the walls and streets around them cracked and ruined, no more than rubble. Trees withered and animals were mere skeletons. Time held no secrets for Seele: he was constantly a witness to how time could erode and decay even the most beautiful environments to rubble and ruin.

But perhaps the cruelest aspect of the curse was how it forced him to view mortal creatures. The elf turned his eyes back to this healer, and he felt a momentary surge of nausea. To many men, she probably appeared attractive, but Seele could not remember the last time he had viewed another being as beautiful. The healer's flesh seemed to melt as he watched, blood oozing from the gaping holes of her nostrils. What skin remained on her skull was white and brittle, and chunks of missing skin revealed bones that were yellow and decrepit with age. Her clothes were rotted through with holes, revealing skin stretched obscenely tight over a skeletal frame. Her eyes were the worst part; they were mere empty sockets, with ichor gushing from the hollow depths to run down her fetid cheeks like nauseating tears. None of his disgust was shown on his feature; Seele had become accustomed to the terrible effects of the curse over the long centuries of his existence. He barely registered the horrors he was exposed to anymore. No, Seele knew that corruption was the true state of the world and that these pathetic creatures were merely trying to delay the inevitable. The elf did his best to further the state of decay of the world.

"You can call me Gehrin, Lyvian." The lie fell from his lips easily. It had been the name of his demonic companion for many decades. He straightened, shaking her hand with his own. His flesh felt clammy to the touch, almost as if there were an intense fire raging beneath his skin. It was the aftereffect os using too much magic; the arcane power had consumed him, turning his body into a gaunt husk. The disguise spell had hidden the more obvious signs of his dark powers, but he had not yet found a way to mask his abnormally high temperature. "You did very good work here today. All of those men were doomed before you arrived. Tell me, do you work for the city?"

She nodded, shaking his hand, and then let her hand fall back to her side. She lifted her small bag and placed the one strap over her shoulder, and then stepped away from the injured men to give them more space to finish recovering. “Nice to finally know your name, Gehrin.” She had noticed that his hand was clammy, and casually wiped her hand against her clothing to get the weird feeling off her hand.

“Thank you, I’m glad I could help. No, I don’t work for anybody. It’s just me, trying to make a living.” She shrugged her shoulders, and then started stepping toward where they had come in. “Why do you ask?” she wondered, watching him as she made her way over – or, at least tried to make her way over - to the exit.

She was starting to notice more of her surroundings, and she was beginning to feel very uneasy. So, it was about time that she continued on her way. She took one last look at where she treated the men to make sure that she didn’t leave anything behind, and then looked back at Gehrin. She was about ready to take a nap anyway. She had done what was asked, so she expected to be let out just as easily as she had been let in.

The elf shook his head sadly at the woman's reply. His expression seemed to melt away in an instant, changing from benevolence to scorn and an almost manic glee. The girl seemed to think that with her work done, she was free to leave. How childish. "I am sorry Lyvian. I cannot permit you to leave at the moment." The slaver gestured at his men. Two of the burliest beaters stepped between the healer and the exit, crossing their meaty arms in front of their bodies. Seele began to laugh, chuckling softly with an unmistakable trace of cruelty flavoring the noise.

"Tell me Lyvian, do you know what the true state of the world is? Do you think that creating an infirmary will save the cretins who inhabit it?" He sneered derisively, spitting on the ground in front of him. "You are wrong. This world is made to be consumed with corruption, little one."

He gestured to their surroundings, the work site that the healer had blindly rushed into. It was not obvious that the men and women that were toiling here were no free laborers, but rather slaves. Manacles were locked around their wrists, many of them chained together at the ankle. They all had the same expression of defeat on their face, their will to fight for freedom completely diminished.

When Seele spoke next his words were soft, almost friendly. "I will deliver that gift to the world, Lyvian. And you will help me... Although not willingly, I am afraid." He raised his left hand into the air, the fingers curled into a cruel claw-like shape. Black lightning curled around the digits, sizzling and crackling as they coursed around his flesh. "Do not make this harder than it needs to be, little one. There would be no one here to heal you if I am forced to pacify you... Violently." His eyes were cold and merciless; the sorcerer obviously meant the threat.

She slowed down when he said she was not permitted to leave. She stopped in her tracks and backed up when she saw the two big men move in front of her. Her heart began to race as she saw Gehrin’s facial expression change so suddenly. “Creating an infirmary will help some of them, yes. I’d never have enough energy in the world to save all of them.“ she answered quickly, watching him carefully as she took a couple of steps back from him. “Why may I not leave? I have completed the task that you have asked of me.” She asked, her eyes widening and her muscles tensing up.

Lyvian looked around as he gestured to their surroundings. Her eyes widened as much as they could, and her breathing became shallow and quick. “What gift?” she asked in a rushed tone, “Corruption is not a gift!” she had tried her best to not yell, but she just couldn’t believe what this man was doing. He tricked her! How could he do that? She was so kind to him, and this is how he thanks her? He was in serious need of some manners, she thought. “Not willingly?” she whispered, more to herself than anyone else, and jumped back as he raised his hand and the black lightning curled around his fingers.

“Why are you doing this?” she asked, obviously panicking. She dropped her bag to the ground, preparing herself for a flying escape. What she didn’t realise, though, was that she was panicking too much to be capable of flight right now. It wasn’t that she didn’t know how to, but more that her panicking was restricting her muscle movements. She was also confused at why he kept calling her ‘little one’, because the last time she checked, she was certainly not a child. Her large wings also aided in making her appear bigger than she actually was.

“What are you going to do to me?!” she questioned, continuing to step back away from Gehrin, if that was his real name. “No, no, no, no, no! Don’t be violent!” she pleaded as tears began to accumulate in her eyes. She had always avoided conflict, so she didn’t have any idea how to deal with what was happening now. She did have a quarterstaff, but never bothered to learn how to use it, other than using it as a walking stick....

Seele's threats had the desired effects. The healer seemed so frightened of him that she had lost all of her composure, tears forming in her eyes. The elf did not feel even a twinge of pity for her plight. Her trusting nature had trapped her as much as his feigned plea for assistance. You would think that the citizens of Taras would have learned to not trust strangers after the destruction of their metropolis, but the stupidity of mortals was obviously boundless. "I do not wish to hurt you, Lyvian. You are much more useful to me alive and whole. So please do me the courtesy of not trying to run. It would be a shame to punish you." The sorcerer nodded to Alyx, who in turn beckoned to the men he had sent out earlier. They came from around the corner holding a pair of heavy shackles, chains stretching between the iron bands that would effectively immobolize a captive's hands and feet.

"As to why I am doing this... Well, this is how corruption starts. With someone like me." He gestured in a theatrical fashion to the construction site around them, taking in not only the slaves but the work they had completed. "I have one of the most efficient construction crews in the rebuilding effort, Lyvian. People who only want results are blind to the fact that my workers do not possess their freedom. I have proven to valuable for the Committee to attempt and eliminate... And now I am too powerful for them to openly oppose. You have faith in your healing arts, but I have faith in having power. This city will become mine, piece by piece... And you..." He stared directly at her, allowing the Alter Self spell to fade away. His skin paled instantly, the extra fat melting off of his cheeks to reveal a gaunt visage. His hair turned white and grew to shoulder length, while his eyes began to glow with an unnatural golden illumination. "You will help me, willing or not."

The beaters began to walk towards the winged healer, although they stopped a full dozen feet away from her location and waited for Seele's instructions. He did not order them to continue yet, watching the healer with a small smirk. "You will become my property. I will feed and shelter you, and in return you will work for me. If you are useful I will keep you with my main retinue. If you are not I will sell you to the highest bidder. If you attempt to escape or disobey, there will be consequences... You are too valuable to hurt, but the same cannot be said of my other slaves." He drew a dagger out of his sash, flipping the blade nimbly so he held the metal between his thumb and pointer finger. The elf walked back to the makeshift infirmary and pressed the edge of the knife against the throat of one of the men Lyvian had just healed. "I will kill a man or woman every time that happens. Gladly." He grinned cruelly, placing enough force on the knife that a line of red blood welled up along the unconscious slave's jugular.

"Allow my men to shackle you... Or this man will be the first to die because of you."

She was glad to hear that he didn’t want to hurt her, but then again, how could she trust his word after pulling this trickery? She couldn’t! Her good faith in others was now diminishing as she couldn’t believe what this cruel man was doing. This was unheard of! As she listened to his explanation about his reasoning, she was in a sort of state of disbelief. She was wishing that this was just a big act to test how she would handle it in a real life situation. However, when the men stepped around the corner with heavy shackles and chains, that’s when it hit her that this was as real as her ability to heal.
