| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It had been a bad day, his experiments in the cemetery has awakened the wrath of a nearby necromancer, he is currently fighting the wave of skeletons and zombies he has raised over the last few weeks. All Everto could do was smile, the fool had helped speed up the process of his experiments. He quickly threw a fireball into the center of the mass, watching it explode as several undead creatures collapse into a pile of limbs and burning flesh. He smirked as he dashed at the few remaing, the necromancer was obviously surprised by the sudden power he saw from the child. He smirked as his fists easily dismantled skeletons, though he avoided the zombies, using his smaller form and quick movement to stay out of reach. He had been fighting for a while, though more just kept on coming, he would be in trouble at this rate. He dodged to the side as a zombie swiped at him, his small form wasn't meant to fight like this, he needed to bombard them from a range, though his limited spells would stop him from destroying them all... then something came to mind, a fusion spell he learned when he saw his mother's sand golem designs, he had learned the magic circles and because of the symbols of flame mixed in with his own ritual he could summon an even more powerful golem. He ripped the skin off his thumb, letting the blood fall to the ground. He smirked as he prepared the ritual, the zombies getting closer step by step, he summoned a green flame to his hand, the blood on the ground slowly moving to form a magic circle. He thrust his hand into it, ripping a portal open, the glass golem slowly rising from it. Now it was time to get serious. |

She had yet to figure out why she decided to venture this way. Cemeteries were not exactly the favoured place to be at night, especially not cemeteries that seem to have activity in them. However, this was where she ended up for one reason or another. So, she acted like she purposely walked this way. When she noticed that it was some sort of battle between some kid and a bunch of zombies (which she thought were just anything that were raised from the dead), she thought she’d help him out. She didn’t know any spells that would keep zombies to their graves, but at least she had a couple of daggers. She stepped closer to the scene, making sure to stay quiet. She didn’t want anything to get distracted before she got close enough to cast a spell that she had learned a while ago. She knew the spell wouldn’t get rid of all of them, but at least it would help him out a great deal. She hoped that he wasn’t one of those people that hated receiving help. Once she got close enough, she kept low to the ground to remain unseen, and then suddenly raised her hands at a group of zombies, whispering “Bolt” a few times, aiming her hands at a different group of zombies each time she spoke the word. Although the spell was best against creatures of the good alignment, she thought it was worth a try. Each time that she cast the spell, a small projectile of dark energy came from her palms and sliced every zombie’s head off that got in the way of it. She was able to hit at least one zombie with each projectile she casted, knocking them to the ground. When their heads rolled away from their bodies, she was sure that they wouldn’t get back up. She felt her energy drain from that little bit of spell casting, so she switched to her daggers for fighting right away. She made little to no noise as she stepped forward into the cemetery, where the fight seemed to be endless. As soon as she stepped onto the property, the zombies noticed there was another living creature nearby, so the ones that were closest to her, moved to attack her. However, with one dagger in each hand, she sliced their legs to make them bend over, and then stabbed the blades into their forehead, expecting a blow through the skull would be the most fatal. Once she got close enough, she asked the kid, “Hey, why are all these things attacking you?” |

The glass golem finished rising from the circle, he saw several bolts of dark magic hit a few zombies, another mage was around. He looked around for only a few seconds, letting his glass golem intercept the zombies and skeletons allowing him his free time. He saw a little girl run onto the scene asking why the undead were attacking him, he smirked, "Their necromancer of a leader didn't like the fact I was around using my fire magic to test how long it takes for a corpse to burn, he found me in one of the crypts and I've been fighting him since. Glass Golem! Push forward!" His attention returned to his golem, its long blade like hands slashed zombies to pieces and crushing skeletons, they didn't stand a chance. He looked on to see the necromancer running into one of the crypts, the coward, though this would mean the glass golem wouldn't be able to get to him. He summoned forth his strength and created a second fireball in his palm, lobbing into the back of his golem, causing them both to explode, shards of glass flew everywhere, destroying the zombies and skeletons in a wave of fire and shards of glass. He chuckled, it was magnificent, while the glass golem was normally incredibly strong, a single fireball could force it to explode and die, fire was truly the greatest element. He moved towards to crypt, "Thanks for your help, though the necromancer is still alive, if you want to tag along I won't stop you, though I doubt you want to smell a burning corpse." It was simply the truth, he was going to burn the man alive with one of his spells, his fingers let out tiny puffs of smoke, he wanted to start casting badly. |

She found it a little entertaining that a necromancer would put his other bodies up to danger, just to avenge one body. She had met a powerful necromancer before, and she knew that he would never have risked his other bodies. Losing one was a lot better than losing them all. She guessed that this necromancer was a beginner though. She didn’t say anything in response to why he was being attacked. It was a fairly simple reason. When he made the glass golem explode, she watched it, moving to stand right behind the boy to make sure that she wouldn’t get hit. She noticed that the boy was the one who summoned the glass golem, and he was the one that made it explode, so she understood that the shrapnel would not hit him. It wasn’t cowardice; it was just an extra measure to have peace of mind that she wouldn’t get hit. Nodding to acknowledge his thanks, the girl decided to tag along. “I’ve never smelled a burning corpse before.” She moved along the ground as though she were barely even touching the ground. Obviously, this girl knew what she was doing when it came to swift movements and quiet steps. She was curious to see just how this boy was going to set the necromancer on fire. She hid her daggers inside her masterwork bracers with the blades pointing toward her elbows so that she would be able to grab them quickly in case she needed them. She didn’t want to get in the way, so she let the boy lead the way. |

He smirked, the girl was quick, better not underestimate her, though he went into a full run, being quiet was pointless, it was time to take action. He ran into the crypt, rushing down the stairs into the room, filled with books and corpses yet to be raised, the necromancer was trying to raise another one as he came in, the dark magic coursing along his body as he started the process. Though Everto really didn't want to other with another undead, instead he allowed green flames to engulf his hand, pointing it at him, "Don't worry, I'll take your experiment notes as reference material on how to better destroy undead, goodbye." He green flames disappeared from his hand, a second later the necromancer screamed in pain as flames erupted from his skin, he screamed as he burned to death, it wasn't long, the man was covered with chemicals that would have hastened the burning, though now the air down in the crypt was thin. He grabbed the books and placed them in his jacket, jamming them into a pocket as he walked out, now all that was left was to see how the girl was. He turned and offered his hand, "I'm Everto Parvulus, half-demon fire mage, who and what are you?" He knew she couldn't be a normal little girl, it took a long time to learn magic and even longer to control it, it was for the best to be honest at the beginning, for all he knew she could easily kill him with nothing but a thought, or maybe she was a melee fighter, in which case she could easily carve him up. |

She saw as the boy broke into a full run, and she ran after him. Obviously, he didn’t care about being quiet, so she followed behind, easily keeping pace, but kept a safe distance as to not get in the way at the same time. The moment that he got down there, she saw the green flames. Moments later, she heard the screams of the necromancer. She was just at the top of the stairs, so she couldn’t see him being burned alive. It didn’t take long for the smell to reach her, though. She stepped back outside to get fresh air, breathing deeply as she enjoyed not having to smell that horrible stench of a burning corpse. At least the boy had warned her about it. When he came back out, he immediately introduced himself. Right off the bat, he wanted to know what she was. That alone made her nerves sting. “It’s nice to meet you, Everto.” She said, not really wanting to say anything about herself. She cautiously held his hand and shook it in greeting. “I’m Rimmon. A uhh...” she never knew what she actually was, but she answered to the best of her ability. “A full demon... assassin...” it wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to admit, but she couldn’t help but answer anyway. After all, it was rude to not answer somebody’s question. Damn, my compulsive honesty. she thought to herself. Then, she asked one of her own questions, “Why do you ask, anyway?” She was surprised that he didn’t comment on her eyes. If not anything else, her completely black eyes would tell him that she wasn’t human. Then again, maybe it was hard for him to see in this darkness. She was sure that not everyone had ebon eyes like her own. She could see in all sorts of darkness, including magically-created blackouts. |

Oh, she was a full demon, interesting, "Why do you take the form of a little girl if you're a demon, or maybe you're cursed like I am? Either way, it's nice to meet someone like me, I hope we get along fine." He smiled, he'd never met a full blooded demon besides his father, what kind was she, what was her demonic essence, how does her blood taste, he knew the last one sounded creepy but he did need the blood of a full blooded demon as part of an alchemical solution to break his infernal curse. He decided to take a look at one of the books he had obtained, his eyes widened at the name, 'Imbuing of Elementals', his eyes gleamed with joy, these books were rare and did tend to only cover one elemental type, he looked at the cover, flame designs decorated the front, and written in elvish was even the word 'fire'. He hugged the book and cried out with joy, "This is perfect! Imbuing of Fire Elementals! Not even the great library at the academy has this one! I'll be able to fully study fire elementals and how to imbue their raw essence into my own being, it'll make my fire magic even stronger!" He smiled widely as he looked at the book, today was looking good. |

She raised her eyebrows when he asked her about looking like a child. “Curse? No, this is just how I look. I do have other forms, but this is my natural form.” She said, “It doesn’t take any energy to just stay looking like this. I’ve never met anyone like me before. Even my family grew to full size. I guess you could call me the runt of the pack.” She shrugged her shoulders, and smiled when he said he hopes they’d get along. She nodded in agreement, starting to really hope that they’d become good friends. She found it odd that he was so excited about a book that he already had, but she was unaware that this book was newly in his possession. “Elementals?” she asked, having only heard of them. This demon seemed like he knew some stuff about them. “What are those?” she looked at the book that he was now hugging, seeming interested in what it was about, and why he was so excited about it. She didn’t understand the concept of elementals yet, but it certainly sparked her curiosity and she started to wonder if she would ever be able to control lunar elementals or maybe dark elementals... |

He smiled, "Elementals are beings that, essentially, are made up of the different elements, they live in their own planes of existence, this book specifically covers fire elementals and how to imbue and call them to your aid, while the work for the other elementals is roughly the same there are always differences, mostly to do with the magic circle designs, they'll be really minor things to, but messing up trying to summon an elemental may lead to your death... if the protection seals for each one aren't in place the summoned elemental will simply kill you and then go back to its home." He flipped open the book, looking at the first few pages, what a magnificent find. All he'd need to do is study it for a few days, learn everything about it, memorize it, then give it to the academy's library. He simply couldn't wait to start picking it apart and immersing himself in the history and theories of summoning fire elementals. He turned to Rimmon, "Well with this book I should be able to control a fire elemental, that's only one step away from summoning demons and angels, then I'll be able to start on my second task." He chuckled, he could feel his inner fires burning, he needed to summon the demon and angel, kill the demon and ask for the angel's blood. So close... it wouldn't be long, well not long for him, for a human it would be quite a while. |

“Oh.” She said in surprise, “That sounds really tricky.” She was in awe that this type of thing was even possible. It sounded pretty cool, but it definitely was not something she’d ever attempt. Rimmon knew that her skills did not lie in summoning or anything having to do with other dimensions. She showed concern when he talked about summoning a demon, though. After all, she had met a LOT of really nasty full-blooded demons. Her father was one of them. “Why would you want to summon a demon when you are one yourself?” she asked, not fully understanding him. “And what’s your second task? Is learning how to summon elementals your first task?” she wondered, becoming more and more interested in whatever it was that he was doing. Nobody had ever shared their plans with her before, and Rimmon had a tendency to enjoy asking questions. Not that she was overly curious, but maybe it was more like being nosy. She liked knowing things, that’s all. She looked at the pages as he flipped through them. To her, it looked like a bunch of gibberish and too many words. She didn’t think she’d ever find the patience for a book like that. Pictures seemed to be more interesting anyway. “Have you ever met an angel before?” she wondered, making a thoughtful face as she tried to think of whether or not she’s ever met one. “I think it would be very honouring to get to meet an angel. I’ve heard they’re very rare, and their blood is extra rich if you catch them in their flesh form.” She wasn’t sure how creepy it might sound, wondering about how an angel’s blood would taste, but she didn’t really care. Everto had some weird things about him, too, she thought. |

She sure was a curious assassin, though he did love running his mouth and his plans meant nothing to anyone but him and his father, he continued on, "I need the blood of an angel and the blood of a demon along with the blood of several other rare and hard to find beasts, not to mention several very rare and mythical herbs and alchemical ingredients, and a special chalice to put it all in. The second task is finding the chalice, I've heard word that it could be in Hauntwood Marsh, though I'll probably do some more digging around to see if the rumors are remotely true." He nodded his head, the chalice needed to be grabbed before the summoning, though it was pointless to have it if he didn't have the ability to summon angels or demons. He gave Rimmon a smile, "What are your plans after this, Rimmon, anything important to do?" He felt he had talked quite a bit, maybe it was best to not dominate the conversation completely... well unless she asked more questions, then he'd probably go and explain everything, he just loved talking about magic and experimentation, his social achilles heel. |

Listening to what he said in response to her questions, she was a bit surprised. That seemed like a lot of stuff to do. However, if he was a demon and was also granted the gene to have an extra long life, she was sure he’d get everything he needed in due time. She didn’t completely understand, though, what his second task was, if he was dividing up everything that he had to do into tasks. She also noticed that he never answered whether he had seen an angel before. Maybe he didn’t care about any of that right now. Then he asked her a question. She shrugged her shoulders, thinking for a moment. “No, I don’t have anything to do right now or ‘after this’. After this what?” she suddenly wondered, not understanding what he was meaning by ‘after this’. In her mind, they weren’t really doing anything. They were just talking as far as she was concerned. “There’s definitely nothing important on my agenda. I haven’t had any clients in a while. Why? Do you want me to help you with something?” she asked, crossing her arms so that her hands were underneath her bracers, where her daggers were hidden. There was never such thing as being too careful. |

Everto smirked, "I would like to hire you, there are paladins with the emblem of a black sword overlapping a black shield, I would like you to investigate them a bit, all I know of them is that they're racist against beings that are half blooded, along with demons, undead, and other races that they consider impure, they're pretty crafty, though I think you'd be inconspicuous enough to easily gather information. That way I'll be able to exterminate them for threatening me and my family, not to mention all the other half-blooded people and normal demons of Chaon. I want to eradicate them from the face of the world, if you can get me information on their bases, I'll pay you well, what do you say Rimmon will you help me destroy an entire paladin order hellbent on killing our kind?" He went on, "I don't know much about them besides the emblem, though if you accept it I will pay you in Cascadia, one month from now, of course I'll let you name your price. Sound good Rimmon?" That was all he could offer or say, he didn't have any friends that were good at being stealthy or being inconspicuous, that left only Rimmon. |

An expression of enjoyment seemed to make its way across Rimmon’s face as Everto explained what he’d like to hire her for. This was the kind of thing that she had wanted to do for quite some time. Now, this was her chance to really shine. “Oh, you will not be disappointed, I assure you.” She answered, taking in everything that he said, making sure she’d remember it all. “I will help you without question, Everto. Thank you for your business.” She said more formally, extending a hand out to him to shake. “I believe I’ve seen the emblem before, so it won’t be a problem. I can also detect alignment so that I’ll know even before I see the emblem that they’re paladins.” She didn’t really want to admit that she’s never gone up against a paladin before. However, she knew that she was capable of slaughtering most of them... so long as they didn’t gang up on her. She knew that she’d have to use her child form to her advantage for as long as she could. She shook her attention back to the current moment, and said “My pricing is fairly reasonable, I think. I’ll have to do a little researching before I decide on a price.” She wanted to know what she was getting herself into and how dangerous paladins really were before she named any price. She wanted to make sure that she’d be able to afford replaced weapons or a healer, if necessary, but then again she did not want to charge too much. She was very lenient with her pricing, hence why she didn’t have a whole belt of weapons or her own home by now. If she charged as much as others, she’d have quite the good life. |
