Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Zaki charged into an ancient, crumbling cathedral hot on the tail of an injured wyvern. It hadn't been a hard beast to bring down. Like many of its kind, it assumed it was invincible as no one had bothered to challenge it. She had gotten it on the ground, allowed it to chase her, and then stabbed it in the wing. After that, the battle had gone in her favor. Strongly.

The creature crashed through wooden doors erected to preserve the structure in a shower of splinters and thick wooden beams. Zaki rushed in, wooden debris deflecting off her armor as she did. The beast wheeled about, flicking blood across the walls with a snap of its powerful tail. Its maw widened, strands of saliva running between powerful jaws. Zaki stabbed forwards, the beast flung its head back. Zaki stepped into the space the neck left, lunging the point of her halberd towards its collarbone. The wyvern snapped back, quickly deflecting her halberd with a thrust of its head. Her body lurched with her polearm, but she quickly flipped the weapon's head around, bringing the chopping ax into the base of the creature's head. It recoiled, spraying blood across the floor. One of the wings slid across loose stone, bringing the creature crashing to the ground. It struggled to get up as Zaki chopped at its skull once more, prompting the creature to fall flat. It stopped breathing and moving, even though its eyes still roved upwards at the skirted warrior. She walked around the struggling creature, measured her ax's path visibly, and brought the weapon down on its neck. It didn't quite sever, so she gave it three more blows before the creature was properly dead.

Zaki sighed and checked herself over. No injuries. The wyvern had been young and inexperienced she suspected. The girl observed her surroundings, the gorgeous masonry and massive glass windows. It was an attractive place, a true treasure - the villagers would have to be told to draw the corpse out. She looked at the back wall, and noted the massive stain of blood across it. Zaki trotted around the corpse, stepping daintly around wings and tail. She removed the glove of her armor and tried to scrub some off with her hand. It worked, the surface was cleansed of blood, and her hand felt hot. It also smelt of burnt blood. It also happened to be black. Zaki groaned and tried to scrub the burn off the wall, but only made it worse. She jammed her glove back on and left, annoyed that her good deed had been ruined by some freak oddity. Zaki stopped momentarily, daintily removed her glove, and wrote Zaki Kestrel across the wyvern's flank.

"I think Kaess told me about this." Zaki murmured. She picked a path across the ruins of the door and into the rich sunlight of the ruined cityscape. She made a mental note to return to the monastery and discuss the new development with Kaess. Zaki strolled back towards the village, planning what she'd do with her newest bit of prize money.
