Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Zenji cursed his luck, someones been hunting him down since he got to Striberg two days ago, he's the hunter, not the hunted. He looked at the two men he had just killed... it was time to play and get his psychotic tendencies going, those did scare most men or angered them into charging ahead, it was time to fight with his skills and assassin smarts. Taking off his long sleeved glove on his left hand, he revealed his glistening red arm, he had used blood before to dye it to permanently be blood red. Using his bare hand he dips it in the blood, drawing arrows on the ground and walls as he moves down an alley, he had to be fast, more could come at any moment.

He moved fast and made no error with his arrows and writing odd messages on the wall, most of them being that they were all going to die painfully. He even dragged a corpse along to make a long bloody line just in case they missed the arrows. Using the corpse as fresh blood he moved until he found the perfect area, this alley connected to another alley that went right across, it was perfect, low roofed houses would allow him to hide and pick them off as they split up here. Drawing an arrow on each wall going all over the place, he swiftly wiped his hands on non-bloody parts of the corpse's clothes and swiftly climbed the house, it wasn't easy to panic made him scramble faster, now all he had to do was stay low and pick them off one by one... he was back on top already.

Two days ago, one of her men had died. Two days later, the seemingly perfect murder had unraveled and she was finally only minutes behind him. The city had been canvassed by her men, authorities questioned. Slowly the net tightened until today; today it was about to strangle him. Pitting her mind and her organization against one man was such fun!

"Rochester! Take Olaf and Jack and head back to the group and get more men. Jot, Nork, lead." Lumi shouted. She jogged on, long platinum blonde hair trailing behind her. The city's streets tightened slowly, devolving into a warren of alleys. The man she was following was making a critical mistake, even if he didn't know it. He intended to trap her, leading her on with his bloody messages. This bothered a few of her men, but not her. It was opportunity to reverse his own trap on him. She had lived in this part of city as a girl, and no doubt knew it better than him.

"Jot, Nork! Continue down this path. Ivan and Volk, take the right and then turn left at the bakery. I'll take the rooftops." Lumi ordered. Her group split. She trailed after Ivan before leaping halfway up a building's wall. She let herself stick for a moment before jumping all the way up. With a neat flip she landed on the edge of a wooden roof. She checked her footing before moving forwards, sprinting across pitched roofs and evading the numerous rotted patches.

Zenji smirked, his plan would work, he could feel it... then that hope was quickly dashed as a woman jumped to the top of a nearby building, his plan would be void if she spotted him and had time to call for help. He could chase after her... but she was much more acrobatic then he was, the best he could do was wait on his roof, if he climbed down whatever flunkies were there would surround him. Staying low he prepared himself, he wasn't happy about this situation, and to think this could have all been avoiding if he would have paid them a protection fee... oh well, death is death and he made the funniest gurgle when he died.

He didn't have to wait long, the woman was on the same roof as him in little more then a minute. "Yeesh, all this trouble to hunt a single man, isn't this a bit over kill?" He smiled, not his usual demented smile to creep people out, but a natural happy smile. "So... how did you like my art?" He spoke softly as he stood up, this woman was someone he didn't want to mess with, he could feel it, his senses from having done wetwork has given him a sixth sense about danger... and right now it was going off like a siren in his head. "I'm guessing there is no chance you'll let me go huh? Oh, and just in my defense, they fell on their own swords... four times each, then bashed their own faces in." He knew joking would just dig himself a deep hole, but he couldn't help it, jokes kept his mind calm and sharp, he just needed to figure out a way out of here.

"So... before we have a life or death fight, if we fight that is, lets make some introductions, I'm Zenjirou the Red, I was also called the Cruel Cutter in Cascadia during an especially brutal string of murders, but you can call me Zenji, who are you madam?" His eyes were skimming and scanning the area, he could make a jump down, but it was quite a ways he could hurt his leg if he didn't land right, or he could jump across the rooftops, but this woman is obviously faster then him, all he could do is buy time... yes, buy time and figure out a way out of this mess.

Lumi stumbled over a rooftop and found herself staring face to face with a bloodied man. He declared his intentions, his actions. It reminded her painfully of the men of hers she had killed. She gritted her teeth and resisted attacking immediately. He was taunting her, he might have another trick up his sleeve. But her observations doubted that, this was a man cornered. He'd fight viciously, but Lumi doubted he was an actual threat to her. She placed her hands behind her back, beneath her light blue cloak. She stepped forwards, advancing towards the man with ultimate confidence. She watched his position, his actions, and prepared.

"Those people you killed were my people, and I take care of my people." Lumi stated. She advanced closer, imperious eyes glaring straight at him. She had no fear of this man.

"So I will take something from you. First I will give your blood back to this city. If you survive, I'll take you for a position within my organization. But if one of my men disappears between now and forever, I will track you down, and you will die." Lumi offered and threatened. She smiled, a sliver of white teeth set in a wide, wide grin. It was time to extract his first payment.

"Zenjirou the Red, my name is not yet yours to know." Lumi replied. With a flash came her pair of sickles, sunlight glinting off the old blades. They were well used weapons, and had lost much of the killing edge they once held, but they could still slice a man wonderfully. This was not a problem for Lumi, as she fully intended to take him alive. She took a step which transformed into a leap, bringing her low. Iron blades flashed, slicing vertically from groin to sternum. She stood in the same maneuver, scant inches from him.

He didn't even flinch, as the blades came closer, he knew he had no chance on this roof, so its time to take it somewhere else. "Lets continue moving with this cat and mouse game." Leaping backwards he falls off the roof, he wasn't to lucky this time, he felt a sharp pain as he landed on a small crate. "At least that broke my fall... slightly" He didn't bother looking up, if that woman could jump a building jumping down would be no problem. Quickly getting out of the crate he started to run forward, he could feel a sharp pain in his leg, he looked down as he ran, "Blasted crate..." he hissed as he stopped to tug out a large chunk of wood that had broken off into his leg when he crashed. His luck was running out, all he could do was keep on moving.

He ran as fast as he could with his wounded leg, taking plenty of turns, he knew he couldn't maximize his speed, so the constant turns would at the least keep her looking... unless she was still running on the rooftops, he cursed his stupidity, of course she was still up there! It was the perfect vantage point. That's when he hit the dead end, he looked around, the walls were to high to climb on the houses and there was nothing to use as a stepping stone, all he could do was wait, he slumped down, using the tip of his sword to break the stitching at his shirt's left sleeve, he quickly tied the sleeve around his leg, it would do for a short time... but he needed to get to a real healer as soon as he could. He looked forward, he could see her minions already making their way down the alley, maybe he would really die today...

Lumi pounded across the rooftops alongside him as he went. Her eyes were careful, checking for obvious damage as she trailed him. He was injured, which allowed her to keep pace as she jumped across the narrow streets. After a minute he ran straight into a dead end, which she had predicted. Natives of Striberg knew about the Slums Wall, an ancient string of buildings pressed against each other simply because there had once been a terrific overcrowding situation. Her men had successfully tailed him as well. Standing on the roof, she watched him heal himself slightly, dangling her feet off near the unwitting man. With a quick push she was back in the alley again, between him and her men, with his back to the Slums Wall. Her soft, thigh high blue boots trudged forward, through snow, grime and blood alike.

"Dear, you must know I'm your superior in every way, and I've come to extract a little more blood from you. A crate won't do at all." Lumi threatened with a malicious giggle. Her eyes were alight once more, and her sickles flashed in the harsh sunlight of Striberg. She advanced towards him, her arms held outwards, the sickles dragging along crude buildings.

"And what do you think of my offer, Zenjirou the Red? Are you going to fight and lose, then join my organization, or are you going to die like a bleeding coward? After all, you must have gotten your name for a reason..." The blonde taunted. She wanted to fight him badly, and see if he was brave enough to handle her or her organization. Being a black marketeer was demanding work, after all!

"Lose... I haven't lost in many years... you take my cowardice for something poor, having the notion of fear keeps you alive, now that my back is to the wall I don't have to worry about your flunkies finding us and surrounding me, now all I have to do... is push forward!" He smiled widely, letting his psychotic persona take over, he could already feel the movements coming to his mind, he'd need to plan ahead, strike defensively, losing wasn't an option.

"I'll have to mourn for a day or so after carving up such nice pair of legs... but... I'll get over it!" Taking a step forward was all he needed to do before going into a dead sprint, he had to rely on his reflexes, cut and dash, taunt her with wild blows then strike back with precise counter attacks. He had the advantage for weapon length, thrusting wasn't his favorite attack method but he could do it. Just before getting within striking distance Zenji crouches a bit, scooping up blood covered snow and throwing it at her eyes, good blinding her would be a good choice. He then quickly stabs at her leg while punching at her jaw. If this worked he would have a good shot at winning... if not, hey, it was a gamble, win or lose, there will be blood.

He taunted her, poorly. He had very little grasp of tactics if he thought he was actually in a good position, her weapons were more suited to combat in such a small space. He stepped towards her and with a quick grin she moved straight for him. He attempted to throw snow in her eyes, but she had already moved too close. The snow struck her on the chest even as she sidestepped his punch. It brushed over her shoulder even as her sickle sliced down and caught his sword, the blade giving a metallic, victorious cry.

"So, so slow!" Lumi cackled. Her other blade had followed right behind the first, slicing towards Zenjirou's wrist. She hadn't imbued the blade with the force to slice his hand off, but it was lightning quick. As he moved she kept close, closer than he could properly swing his larger weapon.

"I would be more careful when you pick a fight, Zenjikins!" She giggled. Lumi was enjoying this, it was not only a quick fight, but it was at tremendously little risk to herself; she outclassed her opponent by a mile.

Zenji instantly started racking his brain for some strategy he'd overlooked... his longsword was to big to fight well in the alley. He didn't have much of a choice, he simply had to let go of his sword, a lightning fast jab straight at her chin was his best choice, even though she was just as fast as he was, in such close quarters his fists were his best weapons, and usually his surprise attacks with them gave him an edge... but if anything, he was going to hit her, he was going to hurt her, this was probably his best shot. He prayed to whatever gods might be looking out for him, he needed this hit, he needed to be set apart from the low ranking goons behind her.

"Well beautiful, it's not over yet!" He dropped his longsword, flinging his fist at her chin with all his might, it was fast, if it hit he'd be above the common fodder, if it didn't he'd be nothing but some schmuck. His anger and hatred rose to its peak, he hated his weakness and was angry at himself for being so stupid. "Dark. Power!" He roared, black energy crackling off his hand, he just needed to touch her with his fist or spell... light damage from the spell or a jarring blow to the chin, it would all be decided in a second.

He dropped his sword after shouting, and Lumi promptly stepped back, employing the full range of her sickles. It wasn't much, but it gave her a few inches on him. He moved into strike her with a fist. It had solid technique behind it but it was clear he hadn't had much actual training. She allowed it to strike, shifting herself slightly so it was only a glancing blow. His other attack was far less successful, one of the sickles snapping straight down into the path of his strike to stop it. Blade first.

"You are so very out classed! Have you ever contemplated begging for mercy? You keep this going any longer and I'll take off your frakking head." Lumi snapped. With a quick flourish she stepped back, long blonde hair sent airborne. With a spring she moved right back into lethal distance, sending both sickles at his exposed ankle in an attempt to trip him up.

He barely had time to dodge the sickles coming at his ankles, with a short jump back he slides in the snow and blood, falling to a knee, "Mercy... wouldn't asking for mercy be pointless? You want my blood and you won't stop until enough is spilled." His fist loosens, he looks at the nasty cuts on his arms, this was looking pretty bad. "My leg is injured, my arms have some nasty slashes, mercy is my only option... but I refuse mercy, mercy is for the weak and helpless, even then I never give it. Why should I get something I never give anyone else. Oh, and it also helps that if you wanted me dead, I would have never made it off the roof, so it's pretty safe to say you'll beat me to near death no matter what I say, get me patched up, then force me into your employ." His breathing became haggard, that wasn't good, he needed to slow his breathing, calm down.

"So lets cut the beating, take the remaining blood, but not from me, allow me to take the blood myself... from the targets you designate." It was a long shot, but... if she took him up on this he'd get out with less blood on the ground and back into the murdering action... and with a beautiful boss to boot.

Lumi stood up, slipping her weapons back into their concealed position behind her cloak. A bleeding man kneeled before her, no doubt not of his own volition. He was likely going to die unless he did something, and that was good enough for her.

"If you ever kill one of my men, or anyone in Striberg without my explicit permission, I will kill you. Trust me, it won't be very difficult. I've got plenty of men, plenty of resources, and I'm one of the best fighters you'll ever meet." Lumi stated. She waved her men forward, and they promptly began assisting Zenjirou. Jot was such a smart boy with his ready supply of bandages. Lumi stepped forward, now face to face with Zenjirou.

"If you want to be a better warrior, first I'd suggest you spar. Secondly, I'd suggest you stare at more than your opponent's pretty bits." Lumi snapped. She stood and began to walk away from him, with a slight swagger. She'd acquired a murderer! How quaint. The blonde suddenly remembered a few other important details, pivoting around momentarily.

"If you've got cash, you should rent a home here. I'll give you a salary when I iron out what your role will be. I'd suggest that you don't spend it on anything I sell, most of that stuff is bad for you, expensive, and addictive!" Lumi explained. She waved her hand forward and immediately Jot and Ivan moved to assist Zenjirou.

He growled in pain, this was the first time he'd been beaten so badly, "I'll get better, but first you still haven't given me your name, or should I just keep calling you Mistress?" He let the men start to bandage him, he already felt dizzy from the blood loss, he closed his eyes, focusing on speaking instead of seeing, he needed his mind to stay sharp. "I don't have any money, spent it all on favors to get here, escaped to here, only to be hunted down, by you and your thugs. Also, I agree to your terms, but first I need to get some money, I'll probably use my sources to find a few easy targets for some gold, in my current state I won't be able to do much." Pain racked his body, moving would be a chore for a while.

Once the bandaging was done he stood up, limping to his blade he picked it up, cleaning it off with a rag he carried, just in case, and sheathed it, "Of course I'll run the targets by you first, you can decide how much gold percentage you want from my assassinations and which ones I can kill since you're my new boss." He had to tread carefully, his new boss may be beautiful, but she was quick and cruel, she could make a guy go blood free for a while. "Now, I just need to get started," he hissed in pain, his leg was throbbing, there was no way he could get any gold murdering anyone. Oh well, she never said anything about not mugging anyone... he smirked, the new boss would give him all kinds of fun, he could feel it.

Lumi watched as the injured man allowed himself to be patched up. She shook her head slowly, he'd need to be reigned in a little tighter than most.

"I'm Lumi Kirsikka." Lumi stated. She fished down her shirt and retrieved a small pouch. Her hand drew out a select few gold coins, which she forced into his hand.

"You'll be living in one of my warehouses so your recovery can be monitored. The coins are pocket change, I don't want you to pursue marks. I'd suggest you listen to what I said. Do not kill in Striberg, murderer, or I will punish you fittingly. I will have tasks for you, and if you wish to freelance...do it elsewhere." Lumi growled. She nodded her men forwards. The group advanced down the streets, pedestrians shuffling away from the sight of Kirsikka and her entourage.

"If you are so eager to kill, I will have something for you in a few days." Lumi stated. The politeness was beginning to wear on her slightly. She had to keep the murderer on good terms, or else he'd probably do something idiotic. Normally she intended to make people do idiotic things.

He grimaced as he back turned, he hated being surrounded by fools he could kill in his sleep, he sighed and nodded, his new mistress would be a terror on his everyday life. He noticed one of her minions was signaling him to follow, probably to a warehouse, or maybe a lynch mob. Either way, he didn't care, he just wanted to rest or kill someone, he hobbled behind the man, never saying a word. He needed to accept his new fate and maybe someday, get his revenge against Lumi... or maybe not, he might actually like the work here.

He followed the man to the warehouse, a small cot was fixed for him to rest in, not to mention around four men waiting, they probably got there ahead of him since he limped most of the way. He slowly got into the cot, laying back, already feeling the need to sleep, it was a long day... and the days afterward would only be longer. He closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep.
