| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The Festival of the Winds was only a day away. The parade was looking was probably coming along lovely. Besides that one fatal error. Allaer sat on a roof and watched as a giant bird made of lightning flew across the city and throwing lightning bolts everywhere. It was hectic. The Sun Elf wasn't one for the Festival of the Winds, for it was held during the day. Being a Vampire, he couldn't see it. Which sucks. He sighed to himself and wobbled a bit to balance himself into a standing position. He took a step forward only to slip on a patch of ice on the roof and slide right off it. He landed on his side. "Pain and agony waits me every time I step onto a roof." He moaned as he pulled himself off of the ground using the wall. What was he going to do? He couldn't really go to the festival tomorrow. So he didn't have any interest in helping catch the Thunderbird or anything like that. It was probably suicide for him anyways. He almost wished he could've been the one to ruin the festival, when he thought about it. Ah well. He kept limping forward as his body adjusted to the pain. He used the walls of the houses as something to lean on as he hobbled forward. |

Lucas sighed happily from his seat on the cold stone. People are always more generous around this time of year; and who wouldn't help a "starving" musician. He strummed a few sad, slow notes, and pulled a tune out of the dark wood of the instrument. A few coins fell into his case, and he dipped his had toward the backside of one particularly attractive woman. His distraction made him slip in his music. He cursed his luck, for the hundred thousandth time in his life, and shoved the coins into a small pouch in his instrument case, along with his guitar. As he snapped the clasps shut, a man fell from the roof a few feet to his left. As Lucas was not yet accustomed to humans leaving roofs, either of their own volition, or as a lemming, he made a sound somewhere in between a stifled laugh, and a grunt of concern. "Uhm...Sir? You alright? I know that although roofs are often places for meditation and relaxation, around this time of year they become mighty icy." He smiled and continued to play, this time a quiet jester's tune. Edited by Lucas, Sat Feb 12, 2011 1:10 am.

Allaer had already begun to walk in his chosen direction before a man behind him had spoken up. He stopped and turned around. He had one of his hands on his side as he flinched from the pain. It would go away in a bit. He shook his head as his Elf ears protruded from his short hair. He didn't like having them hidden, people made mistakes about that. "I'm spiffy. Yup." He said as he straightened himself up. He took his hand away from his side but still leaned on the wall for support. He shrugged before holding back a wince of pain. "To be honests, I wasn'ts relaxing or meditating. I was damning the Festival of the Winds inside my head as I watched thats Thunderbird shoots lightning and kill people." He said as he used his free hand to point into the sky where a lightning bolt came over the horizon of roofs. It must have been on the ground at the moment. It'll take off again. "I also mights be thinking abouts ruining the rests of the festival, buts I'm nots sure whats I gets outs of its." He said shrugging again. Why was he telling this person anyways? What were they going to do, joint heist the large stable area where they were keeping all of the parade animals? |

"Huh...damning the festival." he sighed as helooked into the sky. Sure enough there was lightening, and if he listened hard enough, he could hear screams. How could he have missed it? Of course something like this would happen; if you have Thunderbirds in the area with griffons, and drakes, and pegasi, things would fall into dust. He felt the slight weight of his knives in his pockets. Should he involve himself in this affair? Should he let it slip by, it was after all someone else's problem. He cursed his luck silently, and turned the tips of his boots toward the man. "Well...lets see what we can do." he put on his best fake smile and walked a few paces toward the man. "You interest me. I think I have a proposition. I don't want any more people to die. You want to ruin the festival. If we work together we can do both; get our laughs and save the day." he squinted back toward the sky, blue lines streaked through it like glittering veins. "The natural order should not have been altered, the way things were were fine, and no one got hurt. That bird was probably spooked by the crowd, or the trained animals. I don't know, and I don't care. If we steal the animals we can kick dust into the eyes of Cascadia." His smile faded into a pale mask when he heard a shrill scream from the street behind him. He jogged out and saw a womankneeling over the crumpled body of a little girl. Lucas sprinted over, and fell to his knees. "Ma'am? Ma'am! What happened?" The woman looked up from the small child to point to the sky, where the glowing form of a bird was careening away. Lucas looked at the girl's scalp, it was charred. Her eyes were open and empty. He gritted his teeth and did not let his tears flow. Whatever spooked this bird would die by his razor tonight. |

Allaer had already turned around and started to walk back in the direction he was going. By now he was walking without aid of the wall, just a little lopsided. If it was taking this long for him to deal, would it had killed a mortal? Yet before he could get to far the man spoke up to him again. Allaer glanced over his shoulders. He had a smile and said he was interested. Stop the festival and save the Thunderbird. He didn't get how stealing the animals was going to stop the Thunderbird but he supposed they would figure it out when they got there. "Alri--" Interrupted. That wasn't a problem but the problem was from what interrupted him. It was a scream. Allaer leaned to his side to look past the man and at the commotion. He couldn't see. He walked over without too much of a care. Did something happen... Yes it did. The girl was struck by lightning it would seem. Allaer looked at the girl with half interested eyes. Another one bites the dust. The vampire pushed both the mother and the man he met out of the way as he pushed past them. He knelt down on one knee and held up the girl. He checked her pulses. Not a single one of them was beating. Besides for one, with that sliver of hope it faded before he could do anything about it. If he had moved quicker he might've been able to do something. She was already dead, it would seem. "I was nots fasts enough, it would seem." He said and laid the girl down on the ground. He would have infected her so that she would be revived as a vampire after she died. He looked away and towards the sky. The night had plenty of time left. He pulled up a mental map of the city. It wasn't the best one but he had to think. "Looks like we're going to steal some animals and catch some Thunderbirds." He spoke with a voice of someone who might dread the outcome of failure. |

Lucas crouched behind an old cart about fifty yards from the entrance to the stable. Two guards in front of the stable doors, armed with falchions. He licked his lips. Stealth was not his thing. Misdirection, coercion; he could do that. The guards would not be convinced though, even if they were just for show; after all who would try to ruin the parade. He nibbled on his thumb. "So...I have no plan. How about you?" he muttered honestly to his accomplice. He peeped back around the cart. Guards still there. He took out one of his razors and flipped it open and closed quietly. He pulled an orange from his pocket and began to peel it. "Want some? I find that a little fruit can calm the nerves." he offered nervously. He stopped and took a deep breath. This was no different than any other job he had done. Except that it involved stealing city property from armed guards to get revenge on an electric bird who inadvertently killed a small child. Yeah...not different at all. |

After that they had moved to the stable area where the guards were. They were hiding behind a cart and this was quite annoying. Maybe they could just get inside. The man he was working with had no plan. Well what were they doing to do? Maybe they could just go around back or something? He pulled out a dagger from his jacket. "Lets try this." He whispered and then stood up from behind the cart. He pulled his hand back and threw his dagger like it was meant to be thrown. With a little bit of luck, he hit one of the guards in the head, with the butt of the dagger. It clattered to the ground and the guard was rubbing his head as he yelled over to the other guards. They would be coming over here now. "Well thats wents perfects." He said and ducked and rolled under the cart. Once the Guards came over here he would roll out of the other side and make a dash to the stables. He wasn't sure what his partner was going to do. |

As soon as his new accomplice made his move, Lucas slid up into the wagon, hiding himself among the rags and what smelled like plant matter. He held his breath, and when he heard the guards move to where he had just been, he slid back out of the wagon, toward the door of the stable. When he took his eyes off the currently occupied guard, he saw the red faced guard still standing at the door. Lucas shot toward the man, grabbed him by the bare head, and brought it to the wall with a thud. Unconscious, but not dead, the guard slumped over, and with no sound, Lucas placed the guard into the shadows. With quick and quiet movements, he pulled off the guard's armor, which consisted of a simple tunic with the symbol of a blue bird in flight. He pulled up the hood of the tunic, slumped his shoulders and walked back to the stable door, just in time for the guards to turn around. Lucas prayed silently to whatever gods there might have been to help him not get caught, even though it would only mean a night or two in the local jail; depending on the mood of the guards. |

After the Guards went to one side of the cart, Allaer rolled out of the other side. He tumbled to his feet and almost stumbled. Allaer then proceeded to run towards the stables. He was fast, he was a running kind of person. Before the Guards even turned back he had made it to the stables. He had only paused once to scoop up his dagger on the ground before he opened the doors, slipped in and closed it behind him quickly. He didn't really catch sight of what his partner was doing though. He would only have to wait for his partner to get in now. He looked around first though. "Woah, look at all the stuff they gots." He said astonished. He didn't even see the animals yet, just the random assortment of parade stuff they would be using. This was a stable specially made to house even drakes, it might be built like a house. He would have to find the animals. |

Lucas sighed and chewed his bottom lip. He was not in a dangerous situation, but he was in an unfavorable one. If he was really a guard, he would not just disappear, and any ploy to get him into the stable would only last so long. He would just have to risk it. He turned slowly to the man next to him, I heard a noise inside, I'm going to check." without waiting for a reply, he walked in and closed the door behind him, and silently placed the door bar into its slot. He backed away, pulling his guard clothes off, revealing his normal black clothing. He turned his back to the door, and looked among the many wonders of the building, this was going to be a lavish parade. No animals yet...which concerned him slightly. He sighed quietly, and stepped softly on the straw covering the floor. He saw his accomplice had entered the building. Lucas whispered, "I figure we have maybe a minute, if we are lucky, a minute and a half if the guard is stupid." He looked around the room. "Where to begin?" |

Allaer shrugged when a voice came up behind him. By then the guards would be too late. He pointed forward. "By then I will have already finished with my deed!" He said before he continued to look around. He could smell animals, so they couldn't be that far away. Yet he could even start to hear animal noises. What sounded like... birds or lions? Horses? ...A Dragon? Probably one of those Drakes, the Sun Elf made a bet on. After he rounded a corner he came to them. What a chaotic stable, many little things were actually penned up but it looks like most things were behaving themselves. He saw those horse thingies with wings that Kemi is too lazy to look up the name of because he forgot how to spell it, Griffons and Drakes! This was magnificent, so much that Allaer almost for the reason he was here. "Okay, I think we should let all of them out. What about you?" He said as he inspected the animals, one of the Drakes had wounds that looked like lightning burns. Might've been the one that spooked the Thunder Bird. |
