Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Little snow flakes hurtled by, a cold breeze whipped through arches and whirled through alcoves. The sun peaked overhead, barely penetrating the endless white clouds. An owl huddled deeper into a niche, and fluffed its feathers for warmth. Its large, black eyes fell upon trudging shapes below. In their rabble they came, ragged garments and lose armor. Their moves were gradual, determined, and all heading south toward Taras. Their leader stood tall, empty eyes gazing across a broken city. He gestured and his horde shifted, navigating the treacherous landscape. One disappeared, fallen into a concealed crevasse with a puff of snow. A brittle crack resounded against frozen stonework. The owl peeked from its roost, then escaped back within the windless confines of a broken drain.

A girl in a long coat navigated through the empty city, wings protruding from a pair of specially cut holes. She clambered over broken buildings and kept her balance with a long white tail, swaying dangerously over drops. Large yellow eyes scanned the environment as she crossed between two crumbling structures. A quick burst of booted feet brought her into the tower across the way. She leaned out of a window, hands on soft-worn stone. Shapes moved in the distance with an unnatural slowness. Her tongue brushed against pointed canines. A few turned, revealing unnaturally thin waists. The horned girl's eyes widened, and she ducked behind a pillar. Zombies, the undead, were just rumors, or so she thought.

The apprentice shaman of the Katul was bearing witness to yet another strange occurrence in the strange southern lands. Soko crouched beneath the window and slid by it before peaking out of a window towards Taras, eyes barely showing and horns fully exposed. She squinted at a distant figure, noting their natural movements. Was it simply a very agile undead or a person? The figure paused and looked out across at all the undead before jogging off. The figure disappeared. The demon slid back to the other window and peered out across the shattered city. The undead seemed unworried about this being's presence, no shift was obvious in their movements. She moved back behind one of the pillars and thought it out for a moment. It made sense when she realized the undead were probably expendable, like they were supposed to be in the stories. A single being probably couldn't damage such a large group, the undead reasoned, if the undead could reason.

Soko stared upwards into the deep blue sky past the remnants of the old tower. She could help the creature in the distance, it could be part of a group defending Taras, and Taras is where she wanted to go. The creature could intend harm, however, and Soko would be in quite a bit of trouble. If she needed to escape, she would need to fly, and flying would take more of her energy than she wanted. The demon grabbed her flask and took a swig from it, replacing the cap with a little more force than she needed. Up north, things were more simple, a few predators and some neighboring tribes. Here, Soko realized, there was more at work, and she might need to help them before they could help the Katul.

The demon clambered up into the window pointing towards where she had last seen the figure, and threw herself from it. Her wings snapped open, and she glided to where she had last seen the humanoid. A few flaps propelled her the whole distance. She adjusted herself feet first and landed roughly on a collapsed pillar, settling onto her haunches. She glanced around, eyes settling on the fresh tracks. She bolted forwards along the footprints, passing around a small building with a gaping hole beneath it.

"Hello?" Soko hailed, somewhat meekly.
