Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Getting ready beforehand did not exactly go smoothly. Ace had been bogged down with other affairs of the Academy of magic. He wanted to be present when it all started but that wasn't possible yet. The academy was understaffed to begin with and it was better those with experience in the field go first. Necromancy was not his area of expertise and neither was planar travel. The Ancient city was a mystery and the Frostfell calling was even more of an enigma. Something in the city tied the two together, but no mage had yet to discern what, where, or how to stop it. Some claimed the answer lied buried deep in some forgotten tomb, others suspected runes about the structure. The number of theories was astounding and reciprocal to the nonexistent proof. Ace believed that the Cathedral hid some of the answers. Opportunity to investigate theories were limited. Whatever the cause was it's energy was well hidden until the Frostfell calling arrived. When the calling the mass of energies involved no doubt served to mask the true culprit. Investigating the cemetery during this time was darn near suicide, but the Cathedral was still manageable though by no means safe.

Ace looked over the wards to protect the main hall of the Cathedral where they would be setting up a temporary base. Hopefully things outside would fair well enough for them to stay a while this year. Still there was the threat of incorporeal undead. Ghosts, Phantoms, and Wraiths, all of which were quite intelligent, freely entered the massive cathedral from nearly all sides. Hopefully the hired help they had been given would be more worthwhile this year. The academy lacked the funds to hire hands and lacked enough talented mages to be of great assistance. The academy had to depend on other sources for these kind of things and that was not easy to come by with the fall off Taras. Most of the support had formerly come from Taras and the academy of Arms. Ace had not managed to check out who the hired help was or what organization they were hired through. There was just so much to do and so little time. He had enough trouble with mages rushing back and forward trying to make up for the minimal time offered to them, rushing too often error.

Satisfied with the wards Ace turned his attention to the Mercenaries. There was more than expected but quantity spoke nothing of quality. "Would all hired hands come here, I need to make sure your weaponry is appropriate for our foes," Ace called out from the center of the large room. He amplified his voice to make sure it was heard on the far ends even over the bustle of the small team of mages and their cryptic whirling devices and gizmos. Incorporeal creatures were special cases and the Frostfell variety even more so. Fire would not work adequately contrary to popular belief. Ace wanted to make sure these chaps that were paid to protect were ready and prepared to do their job.

Chaos was not one for this kind of work, he did no tlike being some ones errand boy hired to use his strength where some one else could not. But he needed the money and for a small body guard job it paid well. He was fit and strong enough to protect just about anyone from just about anything, so seeing how he was about to get paid for it made it all the better. In all retrospect he would have no remorse if this men died, in fact he wouldn tmind feasting on their bodies if they did die, but dead men cant pay up, so he would have to froget his wants and do the job right. To tell the truth he was not even sure exactly what he was guarding and from who, to tell the truth even more he didnt care. He lived for killing and as long as he got to do that and get paid he was fine.

Apparently he was not the only man hired for this job, a whole band of men were huddled together in the Cathedral, most of them bandits and mercs who had weak rusty weapons, stolen and hoarded over time. These men were pawns, used to kill what they could and dispose of after wards. Chaos however was more than that, he killed to kill, and get a prize in the end. These peoples lives did not matter to him, non of them did at all. He could have doen the job himself, protecting a bunch of magic users and professors, it was all rubbish. But this group was here to do a job, a job none of the suspected. Sure there was going to be killing, why would they hire him if there wouldnt be, but no details were given, so anything could go.

As a man, one of the leaders it looked like, called for all the hired hands to make their way to him. He was going to give a run down hopefully and inspect all the men to make sure they were up to par. As the group assembled chaos clambered his way to the front of the crowd, pridefuly standing at attention. As everyone assembled chaos decided to make a few remarks himself. so what exactly are we guarding you guys from? I dont really care what you are doing or why this things are attacking you, but i am a bit intrested in what will be dead at my feet tonight. He spoke as if he spoke for the entire crowd.
