Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It is dark... Only the sound that could be heard was that of a wolf, and that was in the distance.
Niki sat on the cleanest pew she could find, waiting. She came here on her own. No one told her to, no asked her to... Why she had come, not even she knew. But she knew that there was reason. Yet, there she sat, content that she was here for a reason, though unknown to her now, she was there.
Niki was dressed, as one would think for someone like Niki... If you didn't know how she worked...
She was wearing all black. Her elbow length shirt, her favorite shirt, and her black jeans on her legs... She was wearing the shortest shoes that she had, in case she needed to run... three inch heels, navy blue. Of course, what would you expect to find on her feet, but heels...
She was wearing her cloak, as while. You couldn't find out who she was, not even if you went to move her hood ... Cuz if you did that, she would hurt you, maybe even kill you!
So, Niki sat there, just waiting, when she heard the sound of running feet, coming this way... Who it was, she didn't know. Niki thought that this place was empty, but for her. She had been hopping to find some where to think about her most resent visit...
That is all that she wanted to do... Think... and yet, not even a demon could find peace at a Cathedral... How odd... thought Niki You would think that someone would have had the guts to, lets see not run in a Cathedral... It isn't very nice to the gods to be running in a once honorable 'home' of theirs... But what should I care? Hmm, who to say that I don't want see this person die...??? Thought Niki
Niki didn't like where the sound coming from, or where it was heading... To herself.

(>.< blast you abandoned places are extra spooky at night *smites*)

A solitary light bobbed up and down as it approached the Cathedral with a rhythmic pace. The sound of padded feet crossing the grass came from the light's location. The winged dog strode towards the Cathedral with Tock riding in the saddle and the Light of Tock's pom-pom guiding the way. The Light was fairly soft. Tock hoped to have it bright enough to see around him, but not bright enough to be a beacon for fell beings too follow him. Tock had though about using a bright light to call for help, but his luck had proved time and time again to be quite deficient and can chances were greatly in favor of anyone attracted by a bright shimmering light to be one of nefarious intent. Hopefully what little precautions they could take would be enough to keep them safe. The Cathedral doors were already open wide enough for the pair to slip through without closing opening the door more. Just as tock was about to close the door a rustle from the brush behind them spooked Valor who in turn charged in the opposite direction. Tock only had enough time to notice the figure before then as Valor was leaping to jump over her.

To Niki's surprise, a dog pounced her. Niki got out of the way, only to see a slightly smaller puff, ball, thing, closing the door. Niki looked back at the dog. It had... wings?!? Niki draw her sword. This beast would make a fine feast.

Niki walked closer to the puff ball. Niki could just make out it would ride the dog. It had a light, which helped. Niki took her axe off her back, and walked closer to the puff. She had no plan, but, she hoped that this thing wouldn't want to fight. The dog, though, she would gladly take. Food would be nice. But, she had a good amount. Who would throw away fresh meat, though? Soon, Niki wouldn't have enough space, then she would have to start throwing some out! She would stop hunting. Go through her case, find the stuff that wasn't worth eating, and then give it back to the wild.

Niki shock her head, she was planning for something that wasn't here yet. She had to concentrate at the matter at hand. Figuring who this... thing was. And what it was...

She throw up the idea of trying to talk first, but, she knew that her attitude would get in the way. She wasn't going to risk that. She would fight. But, only if this puff attacked first. Niki stood in between the puff and the dog, now, and waited to see what would happen. Who go first? And, more important, who would win?

(O.o Tock never dismounted)
There wasn't much need for her to move as valor had managed to clear her height with considerable room left over, but Tock was glad not to have collided with her. It was bad enough they ended up startling her. Tock eased Valor and turned him around to face the figure and was surprised to see an axe drawn. He couldn't blame the person if she thought she had been attacked, but it was still quite unsettling. "I-I-I'm S-s-sor-r-r-y, V-v-val-l-lor j-j-just got-t-t scared," Tock managed to stutter. Tock voice seemed to be scared but it was difficult to tell if he was quivering in fear, given that Valor was doing so considerably with his tail tucked between his legs. It was difficult to tell if the dog was so of from the sound heard previously or the mysterious ominous figure wielding an axe, but the answer was both.

Tock hoped that this creature wasn't some evil being with dark intentions. If it was they might be in more trouble than he previously feared, especially if there were more hiding away in the dark corners of the massive cathedral. Coming here was looking to be a bad idea that got worse with each passing second. Tock contemplated drawing his own sword, but he'd have a better way talking his way through if it was kept sheathed.

"As he should be...." Spat Niki at the little puff. So much for a fresh lunch. Now, Niki would end up eating some of the more rotten meat from her case. Which, though there was a higher chance of her getting sick, she didn't mind. That meat always had a different taste.
Niki walked back to where her wolf was. He was guarding her case. Niki put her axe away. She made sure that the puff knew that it was away, before she pulled out her sword... Just in case.
Before she had turned her back on the puff, she had put out her hand, out it in a fist, then put her punter finger in and out, telling the puff to follow her. She wasn't in a good mood. Her eyes would be changing soon. She would fresh meat soon. She had thought about eating her wolf before she had come, but didn't. He was new to this world. She wouldn't take a life that hadn't lived long... If it wasn't a humanoid, that was.

Niki went over to her meat case and sat down to wait. She pulled out a piece of meat. It was shaped like a steak. It was raw, of course, though. She took a bit, and then looked at the puff.

"What brings you here, puff?" Her voice was deeper then normal. The hunger was coming... Great. I'll have to get out asap... That's just GREAT!! Thought Niki as she stared at the puff eating her food

Her answer was disturbing and sent a shiver down Tock's spine. She obviously wasn't a very nice lady. She put away her axe but didn't exactly disarm herself. Perhaps she was simply overcautious. Tock figured he would regret the act, but sheathed his blade anyways. If it was a matter of trust then how could he gain any with a weapon drawn, after all it was bad enough he was tainted. The only assuring thought was that Justice would come to his aid if he was in trouble.

Despite her mixed signals she did seem to want his company and for him and Valor to come closer. Tock bid Valor to follow, despite the myriad of warning siren thoughts that circulated his mind, and Valor's slow pace was a clear sign to Tock that Valor's thoughts were wandering similarly. When Tock saw the wolf things seemed to slump from bad to worse. Valor had probably noticed earlier and was a lot more scared because of it.

Tock nearly gagged when she opened her case of meat. The putrid stench that wafted through the air did not agree with with his weak constitution and defiled Tock's attempts against showing open disgust. Did she really intend for someone to eat that? The answer though partially anticipated was most disturbing. She didn't try to cook it at all or anything. She was going to get herself sick like that! Tock wondered how long it would be before he threw up. He could feel the bile churning and waiting for it's moment to escape and the moment was not so far away.

"V-v-valor c-couldn't ," Tock said before swallowing to try and keep down the slowly upwelling force. "F-fly the whole w-w-way," Tock managed to finish. "Th-that m-m-meat's g-gone bad you c-c-could get s-s-sick," Tock warned. He wanted to mention that it wasn't even cooked, but he was impressed he managed to get out as many words as he did.

Niki could have been mad. Speaking of how she should be, she should be pissed that someone was trying to keep an eye on her. But, for some reason, Niki didn't mind at all. She look at the puff when he said that the dog couldn't make it the whole way. She looked down at the dog. The thing was shiver, it was so scared. Niki didn't know why it was scared at first. Then, she took in the scene from the point of a "good guy" and wasn't surprised the thing was scared. She would have been to.

Niki let her mind clear before she started to talk. For the first time in a while, she didn't find this.. thing something to eat. It was more of something to talk with. "Can I ask where you think you're going?" Niki asked this in the nicest of ways she could. She had no bad things to do with this puff. "And, if I may ask, whom do you think you are, telling me what to eat? Thank for caring, though..." Niki just didn't have it in her to be mean right now.

She picked at the piece of meat for a few minutes, then throw it into the air. You could hear in fall on the ground, and the sounds of mice and other little rodents running to pick at it and try to get there fair share to eat. Niki looked at the puff. It was still shaking as though it was scared, though it had put its little sword away.

Her wolf was starting to growl, so Niki looked it straight in the eye and said "Excuse me?! What do you think your doing?" The wolf looked away, putting its head back onto its paws. The growl had gone way done. One could only just hear it. But, he kept his eyes on the puff, and its dog, as though he thought that they where going to do something to Niki. He would hop in front of anything to keep Niki safe. That's one reason why she loved him so much. Just like Chaos... Niki shook her head and looked at the puff, waiting for him to talk. She hoped it would calm down enough so that it wasn't shaking so much when it talked...

Tock was about to answer her question, until she chastised him for trying to help her. The answer, born of thousands of similar scenarios, was almost automatic. “I’m s-s-sorry, I shouldn’t have got in your b-b-business,” Tock replied looking down. He was just trying to help, but he guessed he just crossed some line that he did not yet see. Insulting her was the last thing he planned to do even if she seemed really nice rather than holding her aura of menace, though said aura seemed to be slowly receding. Perhaps she wasn’t as bad as he had gotten from his first impression. She had her reasons for mistrust, so perhaps this was just a sign that she was beginning to trust him. Knowing this helped him calm down some, but it would still take a while for Valor.

“W-w-we were on our w-way to…,” Tock managed to say before the piece of meat landed on the floor. Skittering sounds drew Tock’s attention in that direction, bringing even more surprise when the wolf began to growl. Nike quickly straightened out her wolf and Tock continued, “We w-w-were on our way to C-c-cascadia.” Tock noticed that she hadn’t really touched her meat after he warned her out it and then she even went to toss it away. Tock was greatly relieved to have the stench leave before he vomited, but if she was hungry enough to eat rotten meat she had to be near starving. It would be horrible if Tock didn’t take the opportunity to share what he had even if it meant he only get a little bit himself.

“If you’re s-s-still hungry I could share s-s-some of my f-food with you and your wolf. I’m s-s-sorry it’s not a l-lot though,” Tock offered as he pulled off his backpack and began to dig through it. Tock pulled out some bread, and apple, and a few pieces of jerky. It wasn’t the best selection to share amongst four people, but it was all he had and it would have to work for the night.

Niki looked up. She had heard of the Waterfall City before. She had yet to go there, though, she had little want to. One day, she would though. If only because she wanted to know what it looked like.

When the puff said that he had some food, Niki looked down. He brought out his bag, and took out the food. He wasn't kidding when he said he didn't have a lot, was he? thought Niki. She pushed the thought aside for now. She had enough food to last a while. If it was all bad, then she would find someone to sell it to, or something. "Umm, thank you for the offer, but I have more. Plus, that would barely get me and my wolf." As she said this, her wolf must have smelled the food. He picked his head up, and looked around. He got to his paws, and started over to where the food lay. He looked at it for a moment, then Niki called him back. "Oi! Get over here!" He turned his head and looked at Niki. When Niki moved her hand in a motion of come, he gave the food laying there a last look, then walked over to Niki.

As her wolf came over, Niki opened her case. The smell that came out said it all. Most of her meat had gone bad now. Niki pulled two to three pieces off of the top, then shut it. The smell stayed there for a moment as Niki gave the bigger of the three to her wolf. If he was still hungry, Niki would give some of the other piece to him.

Niki looked down at the puff. "So. Your dogs name is, Valor you said? What about yours?" She was kind of wondering what the puffs name was the whole time.

((sorry if there is anything wrong, i have to post this then head to bed. Night)

Tock had hoped to offer her an alternative to her rotten food, but apparently it wasn't enough. Tock was a bit hungry himself, but that soon pasted when she opened the door to the box. Why would she carry around rotten meat in a box? Why would she go and get more after he had warned her that it had gone bad? Perhaps she was of some bizarre race that favored such normally inedible food. From that strange angle his own warning did seem absurd and ignorant. If that were the case perhaps he was being a little selfish for wanting her to put away the foul meat so he didn't have to smell it. Even then it would probably be considered quite impolite if he vomited in front of her. He would have to find some means of excusing himself before that happened.

Tock was surprised when she mentioned that she hadn't caught his name. Tock normally was quick to introduce himself. His fears surely had to be the cause in the abnormality even though an introduction might have helped smooth things over sooner. "I-I-I'm terribly s-s-sorry. I s-s-should h-h-have introd-d-duced m-m-myself. My n-n-name is Tock. It is a p-pleasure to m-meet you and your w-wolf," Tock replied with a short bow before putting the pieces of food back in the bag. Tock dismounted and started working on taking off Valor's saddle, maybe it would help both of them get a bit more comfortable in dealing with the strange rotten meat-eating lady. Tock wasn't sure what to say next. She had asked him why he was here and who he was, but had avoided answering the questions herself. There was possibly a reason for that. What if this was her house he was intruding on?!? The idea seemed absurd, but she could have claimed this cathedral all to herself. It might explain a lot.

((Grr you, not having enough creative juices to do a good post!!))

Nike didn't know what to think. Maybe it was this meat, but she felt off. For all she knew, there was more to eating meat that has gone bad then she thought. As he spoke of himself, he seemed to get a little bit more at ease...

Then, he got off of the dog, and started take off the dogs things. She thought about what to say next. maybe, just maybe, Niki should introduce herself. After all, it was only the right thing to do. So, Niki got more at home, and started to introduce herself to Tock and his dog.

"Well, it's good to meet you, I guess, Tock. My name is Niki. What do you plan to do in Cascadia?" Niki didn't really care, but it was worth the sack of conversation to ask. Niki didn't like to be in quite...

She looked around, wondering what to do next. Niki didn't plan to stay here long, but, if Tock was going to need some rest, then maybe she should stay... just in case... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!?!? Never stay to protect anyone but those that you care about... and this puff ball most diffidently isn't one of those people... Niki thought to herself. She did a little nod to herself. After Tock went to sleep, or left, she wouldn't be far from leaving. She had reason to be here, and the benches weren't very nice to sleep on...
