We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Yet another first. It was amazing that she made it here in the first place. She had hitched a ride on one of the griffons that the city provided, but now that she was here, she couldn’t help but worry about somebody throwing her off the side. It was certain death, considering how high the city was from the earth. She had no idea what it felt like to fall through the sky, but she wanted to keep it that way, so she kept her distance from the edges. As she looked around the town, she felt enlightened to see all the artsy decorations and how the city was laid out. It seemed that there was a lot here to look at, and that was definitely a bonus. She loved exploring, so she’d be sure to spend a while up here. Hopefully this would be a good experience. The child didn’t exactly have very many good memories to look back on. It was as though bad luck just loved spending time around her. Ever since she witnessed her whole family’s death by decapitation, she had been enslaved by a Drow mistress (who used her pure demon energy and magic for her own magic things to make them stronger), and a Drow master (who did experiments on her to change every physical aspect of her, and even succeeded in changing emotional aspects of her). She also looked death in the face when a demon decided to use her for fetching his little power shards, but at least one person was nice enough to free her from slavery with the Drow master. The only reason she got away from the Drow mistress, was because she discovered some magic within her that became too much for the mistress to bother with. The child had become a huge liability. She had yet to meet somebody that was actually willing to help her learn how to use her demonic magic. It wasn’t exactly something that came naturally. Sure, she knew how to shapeshift to and from her demon form, and she understood how to make simple potions, but that wasn’t anything compared to what some people could do. As her memories flooded her thoughts, she walked around the city, looking at all the art and funky buildings absentmindedly. It didn’t occur to her that somebody might be watching or following her. Her mind was just too busy to bother paying attention right now. There wasn’t even a single thought that made her worry about something happening. A part of her expected something bad to happen, but the other part of her also believed she’d been through enough that she deserved a break. Only time would tell. |

Another death, another payment. Illianis was back in the streets like he never left it fiften minutes ago, luckily for this evening was quite cloudy. It helped the assasin to fade away in the shadows. He sneaked in the target's mansion, and spoiled his drink with a spécial recipe from his client. A gift to go on the other side. The side of the dead. A side that everyone needs to go to. So why not make money with something as natural as death. Gods are not the only to decide of who lives and who dies. If mortals can kill and give birth it's simply because they are allowed. He went to see the client and ask his payment. Of course, some like this one wanted a proof of this deed done. Illianis sighed, hiring one of the best and dutiful assassin and you still think he would fail? He told the half-orc, his client, that either he wanted to hear about it, but thé pay is doubled or he pays up now. There another option: at the tip of a dagger. When you ask for the reaper and do not pay him, he gets your life at the end. The half-orc, intimidated, payed even an extra so he would be sûre not being backstabbed later on. Putting the gold in his purse, the assassin left. Hood on, cloak around him. He left the client but... Bumped into something his reflexes made him unsheat his dagger in a postion that only those who were straigth in front of him, could see the blade. But thwre was only a kid. An orphan by her look, but... Her look seems différent then most lost child. He felt like he had met somehting like this before. -What are you? His voice was as smooth as a breeze, as cold as ice. He did not wanted to waste his time. Eitherthe kid was something of use, or another innocent joining death. |

Of course, it wasn’t too long before somebody decided to be curious. When she heard a man ask ‘What are you?’ she couldn’t help but wonder if he could sense demon magic too. There had to be a way to make her aura less noticeable. It was the main thing that got her into all this trouble in her life. It had only been about one hundred and ten years so far, but in the past five, she had seen a lot more death, slavery and fear than a cold blooded killer. “I am a girl, sir.” She answered, knowing what he actually meant, but not wanting to answer. “I was orphaned about five years ago when my family was murdered by a group of... people...” she said, looking up at him carefully. She hadn’t bumped into any vampires since that night of her family’s murder. She wasn’t entirely sure if she was able to tell a vampire from anything else anymore. She could only hope that this wasn’t one of them finally coming back to finish the job. “You tell me what you are first.” She said, backing away from him a bit to get a better look. From what she saw so far, he was dressed as though he were a shadow itself, like somebody who didn’t want to be seen. She had only seen a couple of people during the whole century she had been alive so far, and they were definitely not very nice people. Luckily, one of her brothers was always there for her to save her from being harmed by them, but there were no longer any of her brothers to stick by her side. Right now, she could safely assume that there wasn’t a soul nearby that would help her... |

The emerald eyes of the assassin narrowed on the reply. So she knew specifically what he meant. She was perhaps not aware but not answering directly to an assassin was almost yelling at one to kill you. Though, the only reaction was that he flipped his dagger and kneeled in front of her but in a position that let him a starts if she tried to run away. Her story was of no interest. Though his face was already emotionless. He let her finish and as soon as asked about what Illinais was he dashed in. Placing one hand on her shoulder and threaten her with a dagger, just before her throat. -I am a mercenary. Now answer me. It was a simple,as thé stabbing movement who would follow if she does not answer. |

She got startled when he suddenly moved forward and put his hand on her shoulder and his dagger to her throat. She even contemplated taking out her own dagger, but within a couple of seconds, she could tell she didn’t have a chance of winning. First of all, his dagger was already at her throat, and secondly, it would take her at least a few seconds to get out her dagger, furthermore, she knew she wasn’t nearly strong enough to stand a chance of winning. “I’m a young demon, sir.” She answered right away, staring into his eyes and not daring to look away. She was talking really quickly now, with a bit of a shake to her voice. “I don’t have a job, so I just travel. Nobody would want to hire me for anything anyway. Please don’t kill me... you can slice my skin all you want, just don’t kill me.“ Nobody would ever ‘hire’ her unless it was for slavery, as it usually was. If that were the case, though, she’d be sure as hell to get away before they trapped her. Tears started forming in the child’s eyes as she waited for him to say something. It was evident that she really didn’t want to die yet, especially since she just discovered this beautiful city of the clouds. The child had a lot of things that she wanted to do before the grim found her. She had a lot of learning to do, yet. If Rimmon had any control over what happened, she’d be sure to live for as long as she possibly could... |

Illianis looked at her while she blurted out thé hardship of her life. So, that's what she reminded him, this demonic warrior he fougth. With his acrobatics and skill he would have killed him if it had been a mission like any other. Not a test. But this twisted sorceress wanted the assassin to figth off this half demon of her's to see how well he was focused on his task: training her youngest son. The training was not so bad, but the didn't come back to him after a simple errand. Sneaking in an inn, poisoning thé alcohol. He was not to force this brat to finish this mission. If the men of the law caugth him, just too bad. If he fled, it was his problem. So the demonic girl wanted to live. But people wanted to avoid her. Or use her... This reminded him of his own childhood. An alliance between vampires and drows. To see if both race could make a greater one together. They had taken this wood elf woman has a prisonner, she was already pregnant. So herself and her to-be-born-kin were the test subjects.... Thinking about the unworthy memories, the assassin shook his head. It's quite a first that a mère kid made him nostalgic. Perhaps there was something to do with that kid. -Follow me. He turned around and walk towards the less funky parts of the city. But all the way he looked behind to see if the crying demonic doll tried something funny. But... Slice her skin? Why pity or suffering in death, the sooner you reach the other side the better. Torture and pain were only useful for informations... More that Illianis think about it, more he should do a faction who follows his rules and way to think. So we could start with that child. He stopped in a dead-end where was this old drunkard staring and blabbering stuff about the assassin hired by his wife so she get to keep his money. But by his looks, he was in delirium made by beer or such. The man was wearing commoner's clothes, almost rag. But they were flashy colors, proof of his citizenry in Cascadia. Another fool who was drinking his life away. A useless existence should not be allowed to live. So he turn to the girl. -Kill him. |

The child stopped crying as soon as he removed the blade from her throat, and she wiped her tears away immediately. She really didn’t want to follow this dangerous stranger, but if she didn’t, she felt like he would kill her without hesitation or questioning first. So, she scurried after him, keeping a couple paces away from him at all times. She became confused when they walked down to the less impressive part of town and found this old drunken man. She was startled, once again, when he told her to kill him. What did he ever do to her? She saw no reason for it... and she had never killed anybody before... “Why?” she asked, stepping away from the alley where the man sat, drinking his life away. Without waiting for an answer, the demon child took out her dagger from the backpack she carried, and held it so the man in the alley couldn’t see it. She only took it out because she was worried about what this stranger would do to her if she didn’t. She wanted to understand why she was doing this, but with how much this stranger loved talking, she had a feeling she would only get a threat in response. She also had a feeling that if she didn’t kill the drunk, he would, and it would probably be in a much worse way. Either that, or he’d kill both of them... She didn’t move from where she stood, just outside of the alleyway. She wanted some sort of response from this stranger before she did anything. She would have to feel as if it’s a ‘me or him’ situation before she would actually go try to kill the drunk. She felt sorry for him, in a way, that one individual felt it was his right to decide the drunk’s fate. As if drunk people shouldn’t be allowed to live. Perhaps the drunk would want death, but perhaps not. There’s always a chance of returning to happiness, or something of equal value to the individual in question. She looked at the stranger, analysing his outfit and anything else that she could notice. From what skin she could see, it looked deathly pale. Perhaps it was just the lighting, but there was only one group of people that she saw with skin like that... and with such dark choice of clothing... Slowly but surely, she was beginning to realise what this man really was... one of her long known enemies, assuming that all vampires were her enemy... |

Illianis glared at the girl. Of course she could not understand the logic if the one that will teach him how to live does not teach him the basics. Atleast she seemed to ready herself for the act. Killing takes away innocence but it should awake her demon energy, this thirst of blood raging and flowing inside of her. Or was she having that conscience that stops people to do the necessary? Either way, he was giving her now choice. Thinking about the correct words, he knetlt just behind her and whispered with his smooth but cold voice. -You said people never hired you, rigth? They stayed at a distance, rigth? People are too fond of their fears. So you need to exploit that fear and live, or die denying what you are. And yes, i'm half-vampire but i don't care of rhe others full fledged, or any races at that. They all pay, they all want someone dead. That's how people like us lives. His eyes fixed the drunkard who was now crying and swearing, swearing and crying. Mumblings stuuf of his past, what he should have done and such. He looked miserable in every sense of thé word. -Kill him. But swiftly. Do not leave him the time to doubt of you, evenless having pain. Standing back up, Illianis placed himself in the shadows, almost invisible with his dark clothes and his expérience of stealth. The old begger, drunk has he was thougth of the man in black outfit gone. There was only him and there girl, he was still crying and yelling from time to time. All was explained. Now was the time to act. |

She froze up when he said he was half vampire. She had a single thought about spinning around and slicing his throat instead of the drunk’s but he moved into the shadows before she would ever dare act on that thought. It was vampires who killed her family all those years ago... She so badly wanted to avenge their deaths... but she was well aware that she was nowhere near strong enough... Perhaps this vampire could help her grow stronger. She walked up to the drunk, keeping her innocent smile on her face. The only way she knew how people could die would be by decapitation, but she had no idea if her dagger would go all the way through the drunk’s neck or not. She had to try though. She didn’t want to find out what would happen to her if she didn’t do this. Her hesitation was not caused by her conscience, but moreso due to lack of knowledge on how to give someone the quickest death possible. The man’s stories seemed to be about children as she walked up, staring him in the eyes as he looked back at her with glassy and bloodshot eyes. As soon as she felt like she was in a good position, she smoothly brought forward her dagger, then swung as hard as she could at his neck. Much to her surprise, her dagger got 2/3 way through his neck before stalling. Her swing wasn’t strong enough, but at least she had sliced through his spinal cord and throat. She yanked the blade from his neck, stepping backward quickly as she watched the life drain from his face, and soon enough watched the head slide to the side with blood oozing out from every angle of the wound. She was glad that the man didn’t suffer long, but she wished there was less blood involved. She stepped back until she walked into the other side of the alleyway, and just leaned against the brick wall, staring at the corpse. As she watched the body fall over lifeless, she felt something inside her bubbling. It felt like her blood was bubbling, as if it were boiling or something, so it wasn’t a very good feeling. Soon she realised though, the demon side of her enjoyed that kill. It would be her demon side that decided it would be the first of many kills. She couldn’t help but wonder why she had to kill though. She had made it just fine up until now... but, come to think of it, she had been used so easily because of her innocence and unknowing eyes. Now that she’s witnessed one death, she knew it was the beginning to a better life. |

The things that had render the drunk old man less aware had been two things. First of, it was a kid. How could a kid would have the idea to kill? Then a girl. Girls are soweak and innocents in the world above. Not like with the drows. The girls was as vicious as their mother, when these one did not looked. Young boy tortured, men humiliated. Girls of the depths were fear ,icons of dominance in devellopment. The assassin suffered due to them. But luckily, he escaped Menzoberranzan. Never to return... Unless business forced him. Ah, the feeling of the first kill, knowing everything would change due to this death. Proof that death is not only an end, but also a beginning. Being raised as any drow assassins would have, his first kill was another drow, an elder. Full aware, with all his migth, but they had the choice of the kill. Illianis did choose, but no ligthly. The master-assassin of an house. His actions gave him some renown under, thanks to that. At this moment thé matron took him as a protegee. So unless the houses were ready for war, they would not attack the katane. Of course, noble vampire were looking that everything goes well for this man. Many tried, all died. The houses stayed at peace, the assasin simply killed his assaillant. So he decided to train her. To see her devellopment. He walked out of the shadows and looked at the body and the blood bath. -Sublity for the blood mess, none. But i only asked to kill him quick, and so you did. I won't deny it. But a quick stab in the forehead would have suffice. He turned aroud to see the girl. She looked in awe with herself. Like she never thougth to be capable of this. A quick grin passed on the emotionless face of the elven katane. -How you feel? |

The young demon had been raised by a Drow mistress, learning the ways of the Drow, and having the slaves bow at her feet. So, she had learned the level of respect, especially since the mistress she was with trained mostly with painful spells, so the Drows especially respected her, in fear of being mistreated if they didn’t do as expected. Then the girl had been captured by a group of Drow that specialized in capturing uncommon younglings for slavery. The Drow master that chose her, probably inflicted the same amount of pain as ten Drow boys would receive in their lifetime, taking his childhood anger out on her. She was definitely not going to return to any Drow community, no matter what the cause was. She had seen both sides of that underground world. So, that’s what she would need to do next time. Quickly stab them in the head. But of course, only if she had to. The child had no idea that her demon side might take over though, one of these days. It was more likely now that she’s made her first kill, though. The vampire’s words seemed to stain her mind, like she’d remember those words for the remainder of her life. When he asked her how she felt, she had no idea how to answer at first, but she watched his smile grow and thought about what she was feeling. She felt good, knowing that he was happy that she was successful, but at the same time, her demon side was feeling stronger and stronger by the minute. It kind of scared her. “I don’t know.” she finally said, not really having any emotion for the man. She didn’t know him, and by the looks of it, she had actually put him out of his misery... so she should feel happy... right? “I guess I feel fine.” She certainly wasn’t showing any weakness or regret. She had definitely felt both weakness and regret at one point or another in her life, but this was not anywhere close to being one of those moments. There weren’t even any tears or sadness in her eyes. She didn’t even care why he made her do that anymore, but only because she was still in awe. Soon enough, she took a deep breath and tried shaking her head of the endless thoughts. She looked at him again, silently wondering what could possibly be next... |

Illianis looked at her. Fine? Well, he guess he felt that after every kill. Nothing changed, but for a kid like that it was easy to figure the confusion. He simply hoped that the type of demon she had in herself was intelligent and not beast-like. Just like this demonic knigth who protected a girl. He was a fine opponent, a nice technique style. But he lacked in versatibility. Anyway he looked at the girl who seemed curious. She wants more perhaps? More kills? Or more of the assasin's way to live? He gave her a sign to follow. She needed to learn stealth for now, acrobatics would come later. Walking the alleys back to the funkiest part of the city. He went to a more official building, most conformist to any building in other towns. This was were the guards quarters were stationned. We would need to keep it simple with a challenge. Something that would motivate the girl. Go inside, get yourself meat. And, recently cooked. The guards may spot her inside, but in a kitchen stealing food, would seems like an orphan who is hungry. Unless they paid to much attention on her looking. There Illianis would need to interfere. He wrapped himself in his cloak and hided in thé shadows, almost becoming part of it. |

It was still very confusing to her. She didn’t necessarily want to kill more... but it was definitely an easy way to let go of her anger. There was anger for those vampires that killed her family, anger for those Drows that dared keep her in captivity, anger for that demon that nearly killed her, and even anger at the world for not treating her better. Although she did have full demon blood in her, that didn’t necessarily make her evil. Now that she’ll be following in this vampire’s footsteps though, she very well might become the evil that she once feared. She followed without a word when he gestured for her to follow him, but as they walked, it seemed that she was growing. As if evil deeds let her get stronger. She didn’t grow much, it was barely even noticeable. Instead of the looks of a six year old, she had the looks of a seven year old now. The demon in her could be considered a beast, depending on what your definition of a beast was, but she was actually very intelligent. She just never really had the chance to prove her intelligence just yet. She was still young, so her mind was like a sponge for information. Then they came up to this really nice building... it looked more professional in comparison to the other buildings, but it still had that Cascadian design to it. She wouldn’t hesitate if it was time to eat, but she assumed he was intending for her to steal the food out of the kitchen here. She didn’t have any coins left, considering she spent it all on the trip up here. Stealing was what her mother did, she knew that was for sure, but perhaps the situation was different now... She stepped into the building, holding her arms as if she was cold, and casually walked through, looking for the kitchen. She made sure to keep to the side though, and her steps weren’t even audible. The child didn’t know how to use the shadows to hide her, but she had certainly learned how to carry her weight. Her time spent with that Drow master... he liked changing her into a cat in many different ways... so she had lots of practice with stepping lightly. Most of the people didn’t even bother looking at her, but only because they didn’t hear her steps. She made it most of the way, but it turned out that the chef was in a really bad mood. He came storming out of the kitchen, startling the child. She made a little yelp of surprise and jumped away from the man when he swung at her, yelling in curiosity of why she was in here. She still had her bloody dagger in her hand, but this chef was much, much larger than she was. She’d be lucky to get passed his gigantic hands. He was just an overly obese human, but compared to her, he was a monster. When he moved to grab at her shirt to drag her back outside, she brought up the dagger at the same time. It seemed that she only managed to stab through his hand because the man had not expected it at all. Her face was filled with fright as the man’s expression changed from upset to angry really quickly as the pain settled. She then pulled the dagger out of his hand, trying to step around him and into the kitchen... |

Illianis looked at her go and was surprised. Using his vampire claws he climbed on the roof like a spider to see the development of his new apprentice. For once, he kind proud. She wanted to live, and he was teaching her how to live in the shadows of this world. Those shadows, the elven katane knew them well for two hundred years he lived by it's own, one century in thé depth of the world: Menzoberranzan. Shadows has always been his friend, his ally, his guardian. Nowhe was sharing this part of him, with her. She would be an extention of his blade and will, the claw of a finger. As soon as the chef got out of the kitchen and startled the poor girl , he knew that this was an emergency, if he did not act fast. All thé soldiers in this barracks would show up. He seemed to have appeared from thé roof itself when he appeared. Elf are smaller then human, that was a fact. But this man was by half taller then thé shadow assassin. With the hilt of his dagger, he hitted the side of the head. That would give him the most painful headache when he'll wakes up...if he does so one day. -You may kill him if you want. But, you have to think about, hiding it, and how to. So you kill him or .... |

She shook her head, not wanting to kill yet another person. Although he very much deserved it from attacking her so thoughtlessly, she had no idea how to kill somebody without anybody around her noticing. There was a quick stab to the forehead, but people always looked at the face first... “You do it.” She whispered, holding her dagger so it lay up against her arm as she continued into the kitchen, stepping lightly again and trying to keep her breathing even. The chef had really startled her, so she had to try calming her heart and breathe quietly at the same time... Luckily, there were not very many co-chefs in the kitchen. There were only two of them, and they seemed to be arguing about a couple of recipes and a customer... maybe something about raw meat... She listened to their conversation to make sure they hadn’t seen her, and made slow, quiet movements through the kitchen as she looked for some freshly cooked meat. She could have died for a slab of steak, but unfortunately, they only had pork chops. It looked like pork was the special tonight, so there were a lot of chops cooking and all of them smelled so good with whatever spices the chefs put in. With so much concentration with getting here, she hadn’t thought about getting back outside. From what she remembered, there was usually a dining room next to a kitchen, so she could leave through there, with a casual pace... but, considering this was a building for the guards’ quarters... it was unlikely she’d get out without being noticed. She would just have to look down the whole time so that nobody saw her obsidian eyes. She continued looking up on the counters as she strolled through the kitchen, making sure to keep on a certain side of the stoves and counters so that the co-chefs wouldn’t see her. A couple more looks, and she hit the jackpot. There was a whole plate stacked full of freshly cooked steaks. Her mouth watered as she breathed in the scent of the meat. She looked around, spotting a couple of plastic bags, so she carefully reached for those, picking up the steaks with one plastic bag to put them into the other plastic bag. By this time though, the chefs that were in the kitchen had gotten distracted to the dead chef outside, so she grabbed the steaks as quickly as she could, grabbed another plastic bag and wrapped it tightly, putting it into her backpack along with her dagger. She then made her way toward the dining room, keeping her eyes down as she walked quickly toward the exit. Much to her surprise, nobody questioned or tried to stop her as she continued on her way. Once she was outside, she continued walking away from the building, and didn’t stop until she found an isolated alley where she thought they could eat peacefully. |
