| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Kaess and Chris had been traveling for some days now and they were approaching his father's home. He was coming in from the back side to avoid the traps that littered the mountain and soon they would be at the back door. They needed to ask his dragon father about the strange fact that Chris had gained some draconic blood. It was quite possibly his father's fault. While they had been traveling he had continued the training. He had Chris work on one of the more difficult parts having him walk across, then through hot coals as they traveled. It wasn't easy, but once the boy got the right technique he would have come closer to learning the burning fist. It seemed they would be camping one more night and he prepared extra hot coals to see if Chris had truly learned the trick to keeping fire away from his feet and lower legs, just like he had with his hands. |

It took a few days before Chris was feeling well enough to start the journey towards the mountains, of course he himself always said he was ok. But Kaess still did not let him leave bed until he was fully recovered from the accident with the blood, because of that the young weretiger had soooo much energy he needed to use up at this point. He could not remain still for more then a few seconds as they started out towards the grandfathers home in the mountains. Of course the boy was happy to continue his training to become better with the burning fist, so he was now starting to train his legs to resis the heat of fire? Well that did not sound all to hard, after all he imagined that he just had to think like when he did it with the hands before. But there was something that made him think, a small question that poked on the back of his mind a little now and then. "But dad" he began slowly. "Why do we reist fire against the feet when we are called the burning fists? I mean...would it not be called burning fist and feet?" it was not all to smart questions, but not at all stupid for that. He started to train when they stopped to camp that evening, even if he was not afraid he still did hesitate to let his feet touch hot coal. It did look very hot, he could even feel the heat before he touched it. His eyes looked towards Kaess, then back to the coal. Owie this was harder then he had thought before, but it could not be that much harder. Chris took a deep breath of air, he slowly moved one of his feet out over the coal. He did the same as he had done before with the hands. He imagined in his mind what he wanted...to let the heat not touch him but move around his foot. He remained still with the foot in the air for close to five minutes, then he slowly lowered it down! His foot touched the coal...and nothing happened. The boy blinked and slowly stepped out with the other foot to, he was now standing on the hot coal and...he did not feel any pain. It was warm...but not hot. "Dad, I made it on the first try this time." he called out happily. |

Kaess smiled at the success, but he still looked serious. "Watch yourself son. You lose concentration and you will feel the heat again. As to why it is called the burning fist, well the fist is the first thing learned and some don't make it past that point. Two this is just a step towards the greater ability. True fire immunity. When you master the skills you can flow through any flames and not feel them. The hands and feet are just easier to move in the correct way. I suppose another reason is the name would get too long if we added in all the abilities." He laughed a bit. He had Chris work at this several more times, making sure he had it down. He then had them settle in for the night and in the morning they hiked up the rest of the way. Opening the massive hidden stone door that led into his dad's place. The tunnel would continue for a good ten minutes twisting and turning in the near darkness, until it opened up into a brightly light and massive cavern. On a pile of treasure the massive dragon form of his dad lay. As they came in his head rose up. "So what do I owe the pleasure of seeing my son and his little boy?" Kaess let Chris ask the question since it was his body. |

Oh yeah...focus. The boy quickly jumpoed away from the coal when he noticed that they started to burn. He rubbed the back of his head and looked a little stupid. "Hmmm ops, yeah I will try to keep that in mind from now on" he commented. Then he continued with the training a few more times, he did not stop until he was feeling confident that he knew he had it. After that it was dinner and bed! The boy woke up early the day after, so he did not have any problem with getting up. He was starting to feel a little nervous as they came closer to the grandfathers home, the large dragon had been a little intimidating. The walk in the darkness was no problem because of the boys feline abilities to see in the dark, they arrived to the cavern. There the dragon was like the time before, on a pile of treasures. The boy swallowed a few times and looked towards his father, but it seemed as if the man was going to let Chris do the talking. "Uhm" he tried to find some good words. "did you...I mean was it you that did something to me." he asked, not really beating around the bush with the question. |

Dragon seemed to grin widely. "Do? Well I suppose I do many things, but if this about infusing you with a bit of family power, yes I did that. You were adopted by my son and you need to be part of the family. I suppose that means it woke up finally. Well then official welcome to the family, by the dragon rights you are a member now. No need to be nervous, so ask your questions. You short lived types are always full of them..... well you might not be so short lived as other of your kind anymore with my gift. It often extends life you know." He didn't sound even slightly concerned that this might have given problems. He craned his neck and his face came closer to Chris looking at him with interest as if inspecting him for changes. Kaess sighed as his dad admitted he was at fault. "You really should have asked him and me first dad." "Then it would have taken forever to convince you two to let me do it, so much faster to just do it. I never understand why you always want me to ask people about these sorts of things. Now those questions ask away." Edited by redfiver, Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:07 am.

Questions? Full of them? Uhm Chris was not sure he had many questions, he never was one to ask things. He mostly just did them as he felt like it without asking things. Slowly his hand moved to rest on the side of the cheek, he tapped one finger as he tried to figure out what he wanted to ask. "Hmmm" he lowered the hand and his ears twitched. The boy did not move away from the dragon...but it was then that many questions did come, of course no questions of heavenly wisdom. "Can I call you grandfather now?" he asked slowly, then he paused. "oh and there was something...was Kaess born from an agg? I mean it seems a little odd...if he is a half dragon. How old are you? Why do you have so much gold?" he did not know why but he was curious about those questions. How did a dragon have a kid with another race? "oh and is it true dragons like to eat princesses?" yeah...no deep questions. "But dad is right anyway, you should have asked first. But...what will happen to me next?" he was not sure what was going to happen with him because of this new blood that was moving though his body. |

He tapped a claw to his chin as he thought. "Good questions, much better than most of the ones people used to ask me. Yes you can call me grandfather. You are essentially a grandson by blood now anyways. As for Kaess he was born from his elven mother. Quite a firey lady she was and beautiful too, as to how well just watch." The dragon shifted until he looked like a handsome elf with blond hair and the same piercing gold eyes he had in his dragon form. "Our blood has many powers not the least of which is the ability to change our forms. It shows its self to different extents, my son is a particularly strong example. As for my age I stopped counting around two thousand years or so. Age isn't that important you know. As for the gold well it makes a good bed. For a dragon you just can't sleep that well with out a pile of treasure beneath you. The richer the better. As for princesses no I don't eat them, way to annoying and they always have those knights chasing after them. Much better just to snap up a few cows. Plus I hear they taste terrible and give you gas. You don't want to see dragon's with gas, just not a good day for anyone. I knew a red who did, but he got killed some thousand years ago... I think. I still don't see the need for asking. You are family and you deserved the blood, what was there to ask. As for what happens well who knows. Depends on how much you embrace it and how much your body can stand. Never hurts past the awakening. You will just develop anything you develop. Could be stronger claws or a tougher skin, or you get the ability to breath dragon flames or even wings could sprout. If you learn to tap you power you will probably discover many spells or powers. I can try and guide it in a particular direction, but that can be painful and is often better and stronger just to let it run it's course. You will probably be very hungry for a while like you are going through a growth spurt. Though that may not make much of a difference at your age. Any thing else boy?" |

Chris listened, and he listened and listened. Yeah the dragon sure liked to talk much, maybe it was because he did not get many people to talk with. Of course the boy jumped a little backwards from the surprise of seeing him turn into a elf. "Soooo that is how you do it, kind of neat" he commented with a small nod, it made sense now. "I guess it would have been odd if Kaess was born from an egg" he laughed a little and rubbed the back of his own neck for a few seconds. "Then you must be really old, is it not boring to be alone on a mountain of gold like that?" he asked slowly and picked up a small coin and examined it with his fingers. He never did see the charm with gold, why gold? "It is odd that such a wise creature is seen as so greedy. I mean why not flowers?" he smiled happily when he said this. "I always sleep well on a clearing filled with flowers, the scen is good if you want to rest. Grandfather should try that sometimes" He gave his own situation some thought, so he could get new powers and maybe even wings? He tried to imagine himself with wings, that could be cool to be sure. "That sounds odd, but it might be useful" he commented, more to himself then to the other two. His eyes looked to Kaess and then back towards the dragon. "well..." he paused to think of the question he wanted to know next. "Could you stop calling me boy? I have a name and it's Chris. Or you call me grandson, your pick" he seemed a little more comfortable around the dragon now, less nervous. |

The dragon chuckled sounding more like a lions roaring, but it had slightly friendly tone to it. He also shifted back to his normal form. “I suppose I could ask you why you have ears and a tail, but the answer would be you are you. Dragon’s just find it comfortable no other reason than that. As for being boring… well never really thought of it. Most of the time dragons want a little peace and quiet away from all the people who run and scream from us or those who run screaming at us with those silly swords or those that keep asking for help or power or knowledge. Plus I do get visitors. There is a brown dragon that stops by once a month to play some of our dragon games. It is too bad that those that don’t live more than 1000 years can ever learn the rules it is rather fun once you get the hang of them. Then there is that emerald who stops by every once in a while. Oh she is quite fun....” The way he mentioned the last dragon might confuse Chris, but it was clear to Kaess at least that this was a lover of some sort. “Dad please don’t go into subjects like that.” “Hmm… Oh yes Chris here is a bit young, but I thought they were interested in girls by this point. It is so hard to tell though. Anyways I think I am going to have a snack feel free to ask any more questions.” His neck craned towards the back of his pile and from behind it a short terrified bleat of a sheep was heard and a crunching sound as the dragon had his snack. “Oh you two didn’t want something to eat did you?” |

That was a very good question and he had never been thinking about it before, but it was a good question. Why did he have tail and ears like this. The boy thought about the question for a while, he frowned a little and brushed one hand over his ears at the same time. Why? "I guess I have ears because they are comfortable and it is nice when people scratch them. I can also hear very well...I guess...I have it from my parents. I do not remember much but dad could not even return to his human form so he was stuck with fur and everything all the time." he paused to let the words sink in, he bit his lip and looked up into the ceiling of the cave. "my big brother to, but I was just stuck with ears and tail." It might seem like he did not get it, but he did understand...maybe they thought him to be much smaller then he really was. "I know what your talking about you know, I am a kid but not stupid" he commented slowly and did not seem to care much about the subject. Then he looked towards the grandfather. "Of course I like girls, they are pretty. I give them flowers and presents sometimes. Fish is very good presents for a pretty girl, one I captured myself." he seemed very proud of his own knowledge in girls. He did not seem to mind what the dragon did, people had to eat and even if he had lived with Kaess for a long time now the boy was still a predator at heart. He respected all life, but also knew that he had to hunt in order to survive. |

The dragon chuckled at Chris' statements. "I see you are very knowledgeable about girls, but I think my son is more worried about the colorful details I tend to put in my stories. I also doubt you know much about girls in their .... well natural state. You might think you know, but unless you have done it you don't really know it. Still you are young and should enjoy discovering such things on your own. You have any special girls you like a lot yet?" He rested his back down on his gold pile for now. Christofer did not really get what they tried to tell him, he just stood there with a thoughtful expression on his face. Trying to figure out what exactly the old dragon talked about, he did not say anything for a while now and from how his ears was moving a little from time to time he was thinking, those that knew him could see that. "I did not think I knew, I just said I like girls" was his statement to the words. "any special girls right now? I don't know, maybe. Not sure really." it was the truth and even if he liked Tulip he did not think about her right now, he just never did think about girls all that often. When he was around girls he did not think about there gender or anything like that. "Your very odd." he added, these words towards the dragon again. |

Kaess simply smiled at Chris' confusion. The boy wasn't quite there yet it seemed, but from what he knew it wasn't that far off to that age. His father just chortled at Chris. "I see still not there yet or maybe just unaware of it. Well not the business of a grandfather. Now lets see what else can we do while you are here. Well I suppose we could do something fun. Anything you want to do? From my understanding grandfathers are supposed to spoil grandsons and I can always do something new. Should be interesting." Kaess wondered what his father would think of as fun, but was glad it was at least up to Chris to come up with something. It wouldn't be too outrageous even if it was his adopted son coming up with the idea. He also wondered how long they would stay. He would have to ask his dad some more detailed questions later about what was involved with this infusion of dragon's blood. He wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any other unexpected problems. Still it could wait until after Chris was asleep. No need to worry the boy if nothing turned out to be wrong. Edited by redfiver, Wed Oct 13, 2010 7:14 am.

Christofer gave the question/offer from the dragon some thought, he got the so familiar thoughtful look on his face and the ears started to move from side to side. He scratched one finger against his cheek, trying to think what they could do. Grandfathers was suppose to spoil there grandsons? He did not know how he could be spoiled, he had never been spoiled...or other then the faint memories of his mother, but then he was just a small cub. The weretiger moved over to tap his foot against the ground, it was frustrating not to know what they could do. "Well....not sure what a grandfather and a grandson is suppose to be doing, never had a grandfather before" he told slowly. "What do grandfathers and grandsons do?" he asked and looked towards Kaess, he did hope that the father would know something, it was troubeling that he himself did not know that, it seemed so simple. |

Kaess's dad thought about it for a time. "You know I don't know for sure myself, but I think it is give you present or sweets or play games with you or something along those lines. I do have some sweets some where in storage.... I wonder if you would like dragon sweets? Well we can try them I out I suppose. He moved from his hoard and off towards one of the holes moving slowly enough for the boy to keep up until they entered the equivalent of a pantry sized for a dragon. He took down a few things. The first was filled with actual rubies which the dragon ate a few as if they were the tastiest thing on the planet. There was also a tub filled with a substance like cotton candy. It was just as sweet, but felt like eating fire. It would be odd since it didn't burn either. The last thing he brought down was a box that seemed filled with vanilla ice cream. This was actually just ice cream as the dragon just liked the stuff. Still he offered all three of these to Chris to try. Kaess would probably decline the rubies for him. |
