Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Chaos raised a question and I wanted to make sure I gave the right answer--he asked if the anti-magic field stops the effects of tattoos and items. I said it did, since they're magically bestowed effects, but I wanted to make sure.

Enchanted weapons and the like go dormant in the anti-magic field but regain their power when they leave the field. Extending that - tattoos could not be activated and permanent tattoos would lose their power in the field, but would work as normal when the person left the field's radius.

You would still be able to see the tattoos and weapons would still behave as masterwork weapons, etc etc.

The only things that are not fully affected by anti-magic field are magical beings, such as PC liches. Since I have personally thrown a lich into an anti-magic field, we decided that the character does not simply die - they are just gravely weakened and in pain. NPC magical creatures pretty much go poof unless the controlling PC has a reason for them to continue existing (it is something that needs to be worked out by the participants beforehand, ideally).

From a design standpoint, tattoos were made as an alternative to casting spells and we tried to distance them from spells as much as possible. I would agree that consciously activated tats probably couldn't be activated, but latent tats were made specifically to be, well, permanent. So my answer is: I don't know. :/

I'd say even the latent ones go off in an anti-magic field. They're latent magic, instead of being latent abilities.

As it is an anti-magic field, magical abilities in the tattoos would go inactive. Even though they aren't spells that one casts, they are still considered magic.
