I know there has to be at least one computer geek out there! :)

Anyhow the other day my computer started making this loud noise from the back where the fan is. We turned it off immediately and back on later that day but it didn't make the clunking sound anymore. The computer now seems quieter then usual and I don't feel alot of air moving back there. Is there a way to check if the fan is working properly without taking off the cover. We can't see if the fans moving or not but something doesn't seem right. Appreciate any info you might have.

Thanks J.I.L.,
We replaced the fan just last year, thats why I had a hunch it might be that again but our computers not even a year and a half and this is the second fan. I heard there is a way to tell by going into computer settings if the fan is cooling efficiently but I'm not sure how.

My son said I had better not run it much or it may crash but I feel a little air back there, just not much. Anyhow, we have someone at church tomorrow I can ask. Thanks though, I miss y'all bunches and can't wait to get back.

Love in Christ,
Faith

Thanks for asking. No, it hasn't been making any more loud thudding noises anymore. As a matter of fact, it hardly makes any noise at all. I can't even tell if the airs moving hardly back there. I hope I'm not burnin up the computer. I turn down the whole system when I'm not using it instead of leaving computer on all day long as before. If you have any suggestions I'd sure appreciate it.

 are you a computer geek? :giggle: Faith

you could be... but the only way to check is to either open your case up and check the CPU fan and or the Video card fan to see if they are turning, and to blow the dust out of them.
The PSU or powersupply fan at the rear of your computer ...well you can see the fan there and see if it is turning or not visually.
THe only other way is to check the bias settings on your computer. That is usually done when your computer is just turned on and you press DEL to access it
Be carefull not to chang settings in there though.
In the bias settings it will tell you the CPU temp and fan speed.
Hope this helps some
