Hi. My name is Katy. And I'm a Chocoholic.

Seriously, what the...!? i'm going nuts...i figure i have to have a bit of chocolate in the house so i buy those mini mounds bars and mini baby ruths each 4.5 grams of fat per mini bar. figured i'd grab just one if i needed a chocolate fix. but yikes!  i ate like 5 of each...about 10 total. and that was after a big plate of spaghetti...  then i weighed after two glasses of water on top and i'm back to square one! lol! i know tomorrow i'll weigh like 3 pounds less, but still...i can't believe i did that to myself. and the carbs.! ok, my question is: how do i keep chocolate in the house for a small fix but not overeat it? the supermarkets are far away and i cannot just keep one small bar per day in the house. any suggestions?? thanks! :weight1: :weight4: :gain: :groan: :please: -Katy

How about if you kept them in the freezer? Never thaw more than one at a time.

Edited to say I do commisserate ... had a terrible time with chocolate over Christmas. Usually I get horrible toothaches that stop me from continuing but this time I didn't pay for it until afterwards in the form of headaches and rough skin across my face.

gracie,
oh, how horrible for you to get that stuff from enjoying some chocolate!! :ouch: my husband always gets huge boils on his back from eating it. but maybe it's a "blessing in disguise..." that way you don't eat too much all the time!! lol! :giggle: Problem w/ the freezer is, I'll eat them right out of the freezer!!!! (i'm bad...), but for real, some people like it better frozen. to me either way is good. any other :sug: thanks!! -Katy

Have you tried fat free hot chocolate? I like to add a little to my coffee in the mornings.

I would keep the chocolate out of the house and keep hot diet chocolate in the house. It really soothes the cravings.

Katy, it sounds like chocolate is one of your 'trigger' foods. Maybe for now you should not have it in the house. For myself, I only allow myself my 'trigger' foods once a week. Basically I'm calling trigger foods those foods where it's more challenging to only eat one serving. Sunday is 'trigger' food day. The rest of the week, I keep them far away from me.

WOW! thanks all you guys for the great suggestions! they are all really good - i like the fat-free hot chocolate one. i actually have hot chocolate (i'll have to switch to fat-free), but i didn't think to use that instead of the candy bar! i'll have to definitely try that and let you know...i'm sure it will do the trick! thanks again -

:god: Maybe someone has already suggested this, but I find that when I fill up on other food, chocolate doesn't bother me so much.

Hi Katy.. I too am a BIG chocoholic.. I have just realized..I can't have it in the houser..AT ALL..because I will eat it all if I have access.. It is for sure a big trigger food for me! I cant even have those lowfat snackwells chocolate cookies in the house because the whole box will be gone in minutes!! I know exactly how you feell..I wonder if the hot chocolate thing will work..I may try that!

I have to share with you something Angelic told me. I love chocolate covered cherries. My dh keeps buying them for me and I eat a whole layer at a time. This last box I shared my dilemma with others. She suggested I put the box in dh's glove compartment and walk out there when I thought I wanted one. It worked. I haven't touched the box. Too cold and too lazy, and I would hate for him to ask my how many did you demolish this trip?
