Nothing wrong with fried veggies. That's how most Asian's eat them. It is how you fry them that is the problem. I am still trying to work out how you can have food swimming in grease as they do here and yet the food doesn't taste greasy. Well I have been eating fried foods for the last year and dropped 2 dress sizes. Anyone got a low calorie pizza recipe? Must bring topic back on track or CE will ban us all and she will only have herself to talk to. |

I was always told a low calorie pizza was blotting the grease off it with a napkin. I am amazed you adjusted so well to fired foods. It is an automatic temporary weight gain for me. The admin has extraordinary powers and leeway. My favorite fruit to eat is chocolate covered cherries. |

ban CE she used the chocolate word Most Asian food is cooked in a wok, but somehow there is no greasy taste to it. It is most odd feeling seeing all this fat on the dish and yet not feeling like you are eating fat. I did a Thai cookery course and there again they use oil like it goes out of fashion. I now make a lot of Thai food but hardly any fat in the wok. When we were in India they added fat (ghee) to the boiled rice before they ate it. Why would you want to do that? |

The difference is cooking with a wok. It is not quite as popular now, but fried foods were made in a deep fryer which meant a quart or more or oil! |

No it doesn't work for out here, as there are no deep fat fryers, so the wok is the deep fat fryer. You walk through the market and they have huge woks with at least a couple of pints of oil in it. Basically if you take a standard wok and fill it more than 3/4 full with oil then you have about the right amount. And then when you serve the dish pour at least half to one pint of hot oil over the dish or even chilli oil over the dish and serve. |

That type of eating would take a big effort on my part to get used to. My stomach would rebel. |

that's what I am saying, it is strange because it taste different and it doesn't behave on the stomach as we would imagine. It must have something to do with the spices and herbs they use. |

I don't know what the deal is. I know growing up my Mom deep fried everything. Donuts, potato chips, fish, chicken, french fries--I mean everything. She even bought me one out here that I never used. |

I will take a pizza with a wheat crust, fat free cheese, and lots of broccoli on top! Or better yet, asparagus. The joys of guilt free pizza! |
