Since starting the diet, I've had a real battle with sleep. At first I thought it was food withdrawal, but now that it's been several weeks and I'm still having trouble sleeping, is that normal? I usually get 8 hours a night and I'm getting around 4 and maybe an hour nap. I don't feel I have the emotional or spiritual strength with that little bit of sleep and it makes life more of a struggle. I meditate scriptures or pray while I'm tossing and turning, so it's productive time; but I want more sleep! Any hints to sleep better that don't include medication? Debbie |

Tht is not enough sleep! I do feel for you, I am not able to function well on any level on that kind of sleep. Anyway, there are lots of things that help from getting exercise and sunshine each day (which affects your hormone levels of melatonin) to several different herbs and supplements. Do you find you have trouble getting to sleep OR staying asleep? |

No, I don't think that is typical. I do know that if I fast or have a very lean day of eating, I do not get "food drunk" and do not take my afternoon nap equating to less sleep. On the other hand obesity is linked with less sleep according to reports. Further studies show that less sleep when dieting can pack on the pounds. I am not positive that it would be dieting that is disrupting your sleep. |
