Hi, I just get so frustrated when I feel I am doing good, someone tells me If you eat like that you are going to loose muscle, or you are going to just gain it back, or "my favorite" You can't loose weight like that. I am just curious how healthy everyone thinks their diet is and what is a healthy diet. I am so tired of hearing Carb. I heard of carbohydrates my whole life but I now keep hearing this so trendy word - carb. The evil of dieting. I am undergoing counseling for emotional eating and my counselor has said that my diet sounds bad for me because it is high in fat and sugar. Tell that to my scales. I am losing and I feel good about my choices. Yes I eat fast food on occasion, I don't throw away the bun and I even (oh that is awful) eat a cookie now and then! but I am cutting my calories drastically (she should have seen my 5 fastfood meal a week plan lol) Furthermore I am not eating when I am not hungry anymore! I am well aware I will have to get more and more strict with myself with each plateau but geesh!

I chose eating low fat and staying within a calorie/fat range because that is how I lost 85 pounds in one year. But I honestly have to say the right diet is a) the one that works for you and fits into your lifestyle and b) the one that you don't gain the weight back when you are finished dieting. It has to be something you can continue to monitor.

I completely agree. I chose I eat when I am hungry because for me that is the big thing...for so long I ate for all sorts of reasons so eating only when I am hungry is a huge improvement. As I loose weight I will have to be more and more careful about what I eat and how much, but the beauty of that is I will also be able to do harder workouts without all that fat. I go back and forth on this issue, and sometimes really hate food because of all the decision making involved, but quite honestly it is one day at a time with the best choices I can make for me on any given day!
Thanks for the validation!

I also have taken the approach to only eat when hungry. That just makes sense to me. I use the CrockPot mostly and have a warm ready meal even if the rest of the family is not ready to eat. And yes, with the weight loss and regular exercise it does turn into sheer joy eventually to mooooooove that body. :)

Hey there :) right now Iam retracing my steps from last year when I lost weight . I ate low fat meals, I ate three meals a day , and tried to drink alot of water. I tried to include alot of high fibre foods, veggies, fruit, and meats like chicken and fish...After losing the weight and gaining it back because of poor choices with food in my case chocolate, I want to do it right this time with God's help...Editor I really like your crock pot idea I love to use my crockpots for cooking but I recently bought a small one I think I will make myself something in it so it's ready for me at supper time. Sometimes its difficult I get some people telling me oh dont deprive yourself your obsessed with calories fat grams ect.. I know I have to change the way I eat for life and lets face it when you are losing weight you need to take a look at what your eating, why you are eating ect. Congats to everyone in the successes in their weight loss. :go:

J.I.L., that is an excellent idea to use the small one just for your meals. I was so fortunate. When I lost weight my dh ate whatever I ate. Bless his heart he even ate tofu. Now I have my MIL living with us and common meals would not work. But I have a small one too. (I have 4!) Good thinking.

LOL - CE, the tofu spinach cannelloni I made were excellent - with the Parmesan in there, and it all blended togetehr, it was the texture and flavor of ricotta.

I said balanced diet but I also think eat when hungry, stop before full - this is just really hard because most of us have gained our extra poundage because our "hungry" and "full" signals are so out of whack due to bad choices or ignoring them or whatever, that we really need to work to get them back in tune.

Excellent thread/question, Wendy! :)

I think that was because some people have voted today.

The more you post, the more advanced of a member you become.
