From "Slim for Him," by Patricia B. Kreml

Welcome the Trials

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever: forsake not the works of Thine own hands. Ps. 138:7-8

When you're in a mess, that's the time you really need to be looking in the correct direction for help. A time of deepest trouble can be a time of deepest peace and love between you and God if you are in harmony with God's Word concerning this situation. Perhaps you've reached a plateau in your diet where you don't seem to lose weight no matter how hard you try. Temptations to eat the wrong kind of foods have been too numerous to count. You've had a family crisis which tempts you to the old desire to eat for comfort, and you've got more work to do at home or on the job than ever.

It all sounds like too much, and you feel like you're drowning with no way of swimming to shore. Get happy and call on Jesus. He'll be right there to revive you if you turn it over to Him and trust Him for a miracle. The Word says God will protect you from the wrath of your enemies, and He's going to use temptation as a perfecting agent because you are His child and His creation. You can either trust God, look to Him for your answer and come out more like Him, or you can cry, scream, and try to get out of it your own way and come out spiritually weak and less perfect in the ways of God. The choice is yours. Choose God. With Him you'll never lose anything except the bad and never gain anything except the good.

Father, my life is in so much turmoil now that the bottom looks like up. I know there is no hope for my situation unless I turn it over to you. Take these circumstances and show me clearly what is necessary for me to do (or not to do) in each instance. Lord, I know you can turn this battle into a victory celebration, and I claim in Jesus' name, that it be so done. Thank you, Lord, for the answer.
