From "Minute Motivators for Dieters," by Stan Toler Fill up on crunchy vegetables. "Nothing stretches slacks like snacks." ~Chuck Crow Choice Just because you're trying to lose weight doesn't mean you have to go hungry all the time. There are foods that will satisfy your desire to eat without destroying your diet. It's a matter of making the right choices. For instance, how many rabbits have you seen at a weight-loss center? They've decided to fill up on such healthy foods as carrots, celery, and lettuce! Nachos, potato chips, candy bars---we love these foods because they're so satisfying to eat. They crunch when you bite into them, and they make you feel full. But try some broccoli or cauliflower dipped in a low-fat dressing. Over time, substitutes will become the main thing. You don't have to scale that mile-high chocolate cake at your favorite restaurant. Scaling a mile-high cake and scaling a mountain both have one thing in common: In either case, you'll soon need oxygen! You can still eat. Just choose to eat right. Eat a lot of "little," and soon you'll be more little than lot! |

Great tips and something we are working on in our household. We recently have made our house a "no candy zone" (uh, Editor... you'd still be welcomed). We also have made the decision to eliminate from the grocery cart things like snack crackers and potato chips, tortilla chips, etc. |

I have found that if I pray not only over my meals, but also my shopping list and coupon clipping, I soon have a pantry full of nothing but healthy and non-trigger foods. Sounds like your family is the same, Tim. Way to go! Wish we could have a "no candy zone" (editor excepted  ) but DH just would not be happy, thus neither would I! :) My coworkers sure love me, tho - lately I've been filtering in all the junk I bought (not DH's goodies) to set out. :) |
