Devotions for Dieters
A 365-Day Guide to a Lighter You

April 4

Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Is there anything worse than skinny people who act as if dieting were no big deal? It is so difficult to hear others criticize our efforts when they have absolutely no idea what we are going through. However, we need to understand that the comments of those who don't understand us really shouldn't affect us. The Lord loves us as we are, and He truly does understand the struggles we grapple with. He has compassion on His children, and He will deal with those who are cruel or unthinking in their dealings with us. Listen to the Lord, not to others who don't know us nearly as well.

Today's thought: Beware skinny people with fat mouths!

:dunno: ... it shouldn't but it usually does. Does that mean that our eyes are off God and on us?... If so, then my prayer is:

:ph43r: Lord, help me keep my eyes on you and hide me in the cleft of your hand. Help me use your Word as a shield so that I am protected from the comments of others that don't understand my struggles. :ph43r:

It's true, and for the most part I heed that quite well.

:goodpost: :goodpost: :goodpost: This is so true. The important thing to remember is that as we lose weight to not judge those who aren't having as much success. My sister and brother-in-law used to be highly judgmental of those who were overweight, until my sister became ill and gained a great deal of weight herself. My brother-in-law also has a hard time with his weight now.

:goodpost: I really liked that. It is hard not to let people's comments get to you. I have been doing better with that with prayer. :ph43r:

God speaks so much kinder and gentler than people. We do need to take all to Him in prayer.
