From "Slim for Him," by Patricia B. Kreml

Sweet Words

How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119:103

Most people feel that verse of Psalm 119 is just a figure of speech, sort of an overstatement of that fact that God's words are good. When your stomach is aching and your spirit is longing, God's words can slip into you and you speak them and they satisfy and are more delicious than any gooey old dessert. Honey is concentrated sweetness, but God's Word will taste better and more satisfying than even honey. If you're in a slump today and are eating just to feel better or at least are tempted to do so, go before the Lord and start feasting on His Word (maybe through mealtime). Enjoy His delicacies and fill up on His promises and laws. See for yourself if His words are not sweeter than honey to your taste and more profitable than food to both your body and spirit. Your eating habit will take on a new meaning to you and victory will be yours!

Father, I have a banquet of your words before me to feast upon when I want, and I never realized it before. Lord, teach me to reach for your Word instead of the refrigerator. Let me hunger for your words of life, then fill me to overflowing with your truth that I might grow strong in spirit and temperate in the flesh.

Good post. As someone that puts huney on their oatmeal, I know it takes more sugar to sweeten my oatmeal....1 1/2 tsp of honey is fine....with sugar I use about 3 tsp. .......[I have a 'sweet tooth/teeth/mouth.... :loll: ] The challenge is causing me to cut back even the honey on the oatmeal. And .... I certainly do know that God's word is more satisfing than a chocolate chip cookie...
