Devotions for Dieters
A 365-Day Guide to a Lighter You

March 22

Isaiah 54:10

'For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed,' saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.

There are times when we feel God has left us to struggle on our own. No matter how we pray, how we plead, it seems no help will come to us. The temptations mount, and our strength and will-power get weaker and weaker. This is where faith comes in. In those times we feel God is absent from us, we must believe that He is still there. God will never leave us, no matter how we may feel. He stays constant for His children. Nothing can move God from our hearts, and we need to know that. God will give us strength in time of need. He will not abandon us, ever.

Today's thought: I may lose weight, but I can't lose God.

[I may lose weight, but I can't lose God]....I like that thought....and even when I - for whatever reason - am not losing weight...I still can't lose God! I am never alone, He is with me always. And, as the one sign says... 1 + God = a majority!....and majority rules, right! So -- we can't lose!!

I also never feel alone. I know He is there waiting for me to contact Him.

I must admit that I have had a few "Elijah in the cave" experiences. It's not a fun place to be and usually involves a degree of self-pity. Truly, the only time I feel as if God has left me is when all my focus is on me and/or my problems.
