"Inner Harvest" Hazelden Meditation Series Everything is now. Recovery teaches us to operate in the present. All we have is today, this moment, and when we delve deeply into now, we find it contains everything we need. Those of us with an eating disorder tend to put off living until the scales register an "ideal" number of pounds. If we are compulsively perfectionistic about how we look, that day may never arrive. Recovering means accepting ourselves today just as we are today so we can get on with the business of living. When we concentrate on now, we don't have to be sorry about what we didn't have yesterday or what we might not have tomorrow. We can be what we are today, even if we're not perfect. We can share today's gifts and enjoy them, believing that living well in the present is our best preparation for the future. * I will fully experience the gifts of now. |
