From "Minute Motivators for Dieters," by Stan Toler Establish a daily devotional plan. "If a man's Bible is coming apart, it is an indication that he himself is fairly well put together." ~James Jennings Piety It would be nice if spirituality came out of a box that we could pull from the freezer and microwave on high for two minutes. But it doesn't. There is no instant piety. Like most things, spiritual growth requires effort. Your life has individual parts---physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Neglect any of the areas, and imbalance results. Fitness begins on the inside. Make a plan to grow spiritually. Set a daily appointment for prayer and meditation. Allot some time for Scripture and devotional reading. Ask the Lord for strength to meet your goals. A little boy knocked on a big door in a rather upscale section of town. The butler answered, "May I help you, young man?" "I'm raising money to buy a new house for my mom," the little boy answered. "My, my!" the butler responded. "That's going to take a lot of money. Are you sure you can do that all by yourself?" The little boy answered, "Oh, no sir, my brother's gonna help me when he gets done deliverin' his papers." You don't have to do it alone. |

[You don't have to do it alone.] Thank the Lord because I know I couldn't do it alone. There's a sign in front of a church I pass on the way to work that says..... ...'God plus 1 = a majority' ---- Everytime I read that it makes me sit up a bit straighter in my car, and, because it is only about 2 minutes from work, I walk into work a bit taller and definately more confident. It I am the majority, what I can't handle, He can. |
