From "Minute Motivators for Dieters," by Stan Toler Write out your life mission. "Make long-range plans as if you are going to live forever, and live today as if it were your last day on earth." ~Orville Hagan Purpose "Jack!" the driver's education teacher shouted as her pupil turned the wrong way on a one-way street. "Do you know where you're going?" Unfazed, the young driver responded, "No, Ma'am, but it looks like we're the only ones headin' in this direction." What's your direction? What are you doing with your life? I don't mean right now. I'm talking about the big picture. What are your long-term plans? What is your life about? Why are you here? When you find solid answers to those questions, you'll discover new discipline for all areas of life. You may have outlined your diet plan. The menu may be in order, but how about the rest of your life? Where do you want to be in five years? Ten years? Get alone with your Bible, your notebook, and your journal. Reflect on where you've been where you are now, and where you want to be in your life journey. When your life has purpose, your physical health is much easier to manage. Begin by pondering this question: What is my mission in life? |
