Sow Profitably

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Gal. 6:7-8

As sowers to the flesh we certainly wanted to avoid talking about the sowing and reaping principle. We tried to apply it only to sin and stay away from its obvious spiritual and physical application to our lives. In our hearts, we knew every time we sowed three thousand extra calories, we reaped on extra pounds of fat on our bodies. What we really didn't want to think about was the other damage to our internal organs that couldn't be as readily seen but was there just the same.

The Word clearly says if your works (like eating) are fleshly and lustful (like gluttony and compulsive eating) then your bodies will reap the effects of decay, ruin, and death. Those are the facts. God said it, and it can't be gotten around.

"But, I've repented of my sin of gluttony, changed my eating, and I still have some physical problems like fat. Why?" well, God promised to forgive and He did, but you are still reaping what you've sown in the past. It will take a lot of time sowing good food and good eating habits to reap weight loss and health. This is all the more reason not to delay a day longer. Haven't you been reaping the devil's trash long enough? Start sowing good food, good diet, good nutrition, and temperance, and start reaping weight loss, health, and a controlled appetite.

Father, I've spent too many years sowing gluttony and reaping fat. I've always realized in the back of my mind that I was reaping what I had sown, but I just ignored it. Thank you for making it clear for me and giving me your assurance that as I sow good eating habits and good nutrition, I'll reap a slim, healthy body.
