From "Slim for Him," by Patricia B. Kreml For Your Perfection My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4 The last thing we want to be when temptations and tests come along is joyful. Even though we know the Bible says we should, it makes no sense to our natural minds. Our minds tell us we should complain and yell out about it, but our hearts, our spiritual parts, tell us it is all for our own good. The Word says that when temptations come upon us, we are not only supposed to be joyful about it, but we're to be patient in it. We are not to seek to be quickly rescued from a test, but are to let our patience have a chance to fully blossom and be strengthened and perfected in us. We hate pain, especially where food is concerned, and we tend to fight patience because we're used to giving our stomachs what they want as soon as they cry out. We must learn to say no to them. Be firm in that resolve and allow patience to grow and mature inside. In this way, the Word says, we become perfected and not lacking in those good, spiritual things. Let us grow perfect in Him, for His sake, and be proved strong, faithful children of the King. Father, I know patience is one virtue I really need and abundance of in my life. When I begin to be impatient for you to take me through a trial, remind me this trial is a good thing for me and that you are faithful to help me through in due time. Perfect that patience within me that I might grow stronger in your image and example. |

Patience I have. Applying it to weight loss is an art though. |
