Sugarless Cookies

1 cup dates
1 cup raisins
1 cup water
1/2 stick or 1/8 lb. butter
1 cup whole wheat flour (or pastry flour)
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Boil dates, raisins and water for 3 minutes, or until
thickened. Add 1/2 stick of butter before cooling. Cool
thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Drop
by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375
degrees for 10-12 minutes (depends on your oven).
