Devotions for Dieters A 365-Day Guide to a Lighter You October 12 John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Corey had to admit that his friends were making better progress than he was. He just wasn't disciplined enough. His friends didn't seem to have nearly as much trouble with discipline. When he asked them why, they all just grinned and told him to pray about it. Finally, it dawned on him what they were talking about. Corey wasn't much of a Christian, but he wasn't stupid, either. His friends obviously had something he needed and wanted. If God could do so much to help them, then Corey believed He would do it for him, also. By receiving the truth of Christ, Corey was given all the strength needed to succeed in his diet. Today's thought: God is ready to help me lose weight! |

Amen to that! Prayer is vital for my weight loss! A serious problem with my spiritual life, is that I don't pray enough! Not nearly enough!! Here's my "typical" prayer day: -when I first get out of bed, for about 10 minutes -on the way to work (45 minute drive)...usually pray for about 5 or 10 minutes, then listen to my fav Bible radio programs. -during my lunch break... I typically nap in my car for about 30 minutes. During those first 10 or 15 minutes, I pray, then slowly drift off (I sleep on pupose, otherwise I am a total FLAKE for the afternoon). --very quickly thank God before meals. --we pray together as a family before bedtime, less than 5 minutes. I envy those who take literally HOURS for prayer time. The very occasional times I have done that, I have gotten so much revelation and peace (and many tears released!). What is your typical prayer life like? Can you share suggestions on finding more time? I know that I should really be praying all the 45 mintues of the way home, but I just don't. I choose instead to listen to radio talk shows, Here I am, really feeling too tired and lazy to pray on the way home, when I should be praying to the One who will give me STRENGTH. |

I think your prayer life is fabulous, Chrissy! Mine is active because I don't work and because I am presented with so many requests and opportunities throughout the day on the Internet. |
