Old Fashioned Hardtack Candy

2 C. sugar
3/4 C. corn syrup
1 C. water

Mix and cook to 270 degrees F. or hard brittle stage with threads as it falls

Hee Hee! I just thought I'd see who really reads these things. B) Really I think I know the candy and if you go to a quaint gift shop you will pay through the nose for it.

I am betting that Angelic will reply. LOL

Well I would have offered to try the recipe to give you feedback, but I don't know where I'll get corn syrup. Luckily, because the candy probably tastes really good!

Corn syrup is kind of old fashioned. It is available here in a brand named Karo. When the children were younger I used it a lot. I believe (could be wrong) it is healthier than sugar if there is such a thing.
